    I've search far and wide for another game even remotely close to Urban Assault, and every single one of them has fallen short. Sure, its super repetitive and every mission basically plays exactly the same, but Urban Assault's core mechanics have always been enough to keep me coming back to it. One thing to note is that Urban Assault's storytelling is convoluted as hell. One thing to note is that Urban Assault's storytelling is convoluted as hell. There's no clear good or evil among the human factions, with each side's mission briefings weaving a very different view of one another (Note that only one faction is playable without the expansion... which was never officially released). I've always considered this one of the game's strengths, as it helps to create the game's inrcedibly bleak and broken world.
    Urban Assault's graphics are pretty rustic (about what you'd expect from 1998), but the overall look of the game still holds up, mostly due to its dirty and dark aesthetic being a pretty accurate reflection of the story world.

    Urban Assault is, to me, the forgotten crown jewel of the RTS/FPS hybrid genre. Its a flawed beast and I love every blemish.    … Expand
