    This is one of the most unique and interesting games I have ever played. Everything about it is relaxing and you never feel rushed. The game is beautiful and so is the music that accompanies it. This is the type of game that everyone should buy because I believe almost everyone can find something to like about it.

    I don't play many platformers, so I normally wouldn't try a game like this, but the art and presentation looked interesting to me so I tried it. Overall I found it very playable for someone like myself who's not used to platformers. It had a few frustrating moments, but not many. One of my favorites was the western themed level with one of the western fonts, but the there are other good levels also and they're generally interesting to play through. The colon shape is interesting for the game mechanics as it allows you to grab corners and spin as you play. I think this game might appeal more to a gamer who's not really into platformers like myself. If you're experienced at platformers the game might not present much challenge. I play slowly, and got about 4 hours of play finishing everything except the secret level which is quite a bit harder than the rest of the game. Overall, I had fun with with the game, and enjoyed the artwork, music and concept. Probably won't play again though. If it sounds interesting, give it a try.… Expand

    While the idea of a game about typography is vaguely interesting (and is the reason why I installed the game in the first place – with an offbeat premise like that, at least it has a hook), the game itself is actually quite bad.

    The problem is really mechanical in nature; the colon is just not a very interesting thing to control. Or, more accurately, it is a somewhat interesting idea which, in practice, is really annoying to control because of the controls. The colon can jump, wall jump, can rotate around itself, and… that’s about it. The fact that it is two circles means that it can sometimes have its two halves separated by things, which is used as a sort of gimmicky thing a few times, but only a few portions of the game make use of dangling one circle below a thin platform and rolling along it.

    Unfortunately, the actual mechanics are not very good. Controlling the colon is awkward due to an awkward amount of inertia, and it never felt very good to control the colon. The levels themselves are mostly very easy, with pretty generous checkpoints, with only the final two levels really posing any degree of significant challenge. However, even in the easier levels, the controls always feel clunky and unpleasant, and it is really just never a game that managed to make me say “Gee, I’m having fun.”

    Even the little collectible bits of history didn’t particularly impress me; beyond not really showing off the font faces in a very interesting manner (the in-game explanatory text is actually all in the same font, rather than reflecting the various eras), it was just the sort of stuff I had already picked up off of Wikipedia.

    In the end, there is really not much here to recommend; the actual gameplay is clunky, the game overall is quite short (under 4 hours to 100%), and there’s just nothing particularly interesting here. An idea isn’t enough; a game actually has to be fun to play, and this game never really managed that.    … Expand

    Type: Rider provides a very well presented history of typography. The atmosphere and level design wonderfully compliment the information provided. However, at times imprecise platforming only serves to frustrate and lessen the experience. The occasional imprecision does not make the game unplayable, it only made me wish the controls matched the polish of the audio and visual design.     For about 5 minutes I actually thought comic sans was kinda fun... and then I went right back to hating it. This was a nice casual game that reminded me a bit of Limbo. The levels, graphics, and music were all well done and I even learned a little history along the way. Education + video games for the win!

    I’ll say right away that I liked the basic game play and concept of Type: Rider. I found the platforming and puzzle aspects to be overall pretty good and enjoyable. I did find the dots to be annoying to control and maneuver at times but I was able to to get through the levels. The special level after the ending is terrible though in my opinion. While the levels before all have checkpoints at different points the special level has none at all and any mistakes mean starting the level from scratch. Throw in that you’re being pursed by an enemy who kills you if they catch up with you and it was even worse. I hate crap mechanics like that, especially when the rest of the game doesn’t have it. The art style and graphics were well done and I liked what they did especially the western themed level.

    I played Type: Rider on Linux. This is where the game goes into unforgivable territory. There is a bug with dual screen monitors where the game doesn’t display properly unless you disable your secondary monitor. This bug was reported over eight years ago, at the time of writing this, and it still isn’t fixed. That is trash customer service and this developer and publisher deserve to go out of business if they haven’t already. There are also no resolution options above 1280x720 which is terrible even for 2013 when it came out. There is only one graphics setting other than the resolution. Performance was great but considering the low resolution and that there was a 60 FPS cap I was not surprised.

    I don’t recommend this game at all at any price. The developer and publisher don’t deserve the sale. They have put zero effort into fixing issues and the special level was atrocious. I am giving as high of a score as I did simply because the overall mechanics are decent and the art style was good. I finished the game in one hour and fifty four minutes.

    "Type:Rider" is a one of a kind game that blends the world of typography and plat-former, you play as a colon symbol witch seems odd but you work your way through levels designed with different types of Font/Type. From older Gothic and Serif fonts to newer San-Serif and Script, It's extremely interesting looking at all these forms of type in a whole knew light, They are no longer just"Type:Rider" is a one of a kind game that blends the world of typography and plat-former, you play as a colon symbol witch seems odd but you work your way through levels designed with different types of Font/Type. From older Gothic and Serif fonts to newer San-Serif and Script, It's extremely interesting looking at all these forms of type in a whole knew light, They are no longer just Letters but pathways you must follow to progress and I feel this lets you see the art and precision behind Typography design.     Type Rider is a side scrolling platforming Games where you play as a colon 2 dots not the other one The game starts out pretty okay, decently fun, learning the history of fonts.. hopping on letters and slowly this 2 hours game gets more and more challenging… I really enjoyed the first half.. it was pretty numbing.. simple and enjoyable enough…    Type Rider

    I really enjoyed the first half..
    it was pretty numbing..
    simple and enjoyable enough…
    a few puzzles thrown in there to get a white dot into a slot and move on…
    But as the challenge increased..
    the less fun the game got…
    These dots aren’t exactly the most fluent characters in platforming game history..
    one will weigh the other down…
    you can balance with the triggers, but throughout my journey I never got the hangout it
    I button mashed my way through the frustrating final level which by the way also feature a game braking bug
    This game has a feature where if youre stuck you can press triangle to restart a section of a chapter…
    Of course id bump this button way too many times on a table while frustratingly trying to balance these characters mid air only to lose my progress…
    And one of these accidental redos set me a good ways back and when I got to the point I was at in the level, it was closed off and I couldn’t progress,
    so I had to exit the level and retry this frustrating section again..
    Most of the few final levels are frustrating as they make you deal with the balancing mechanic that the game never really prepares you for..
    youre just suddenly forced to use it after you learned about it way back in the tutorial…
    But frustrations aside.. none of the levels are really interesting or well design..
    aside for some very few and tiny neat moments in the game..
    The level design really just feels like a bunch of random levels all over the place and nothing more…
    Type Rider is an okay time..
    Nothing Special..
    Nothing youll remember after you reach its credits..
    I give Type Rider
    a 5/10    … Expand

    Type:Rider in really an unique game. Is a game that manages to mix wisely entertainment and culture, reinventing at the same time a formula like platform with few but valid variants.
