Great game on a great universe, a wonderful soundtrack (albeit a remix of the original Zun games), great gameplay, lots of easter eggs and content.

Amazing action-oriented Metroidvania, kinda like Castlevania set in a Japanese castle. Check this out if you love Mega Man Zero, Momodora, Hollow Knight, or Castlevania..

A beautiful Touhou-themed Metroidvania indie that scratches the same itch of Symphony of the Night. The graphics, gameplay, and soundtrack are so exceptional that it is hard to imagine it was made by indie developers.

What makes Luna Nights unique is that the main character, Sakuya, can control time. The game allows you to do that generously and is balanced so that it isn't abusable.

The map is built to reflect this ability as well, as it requires intelligent use of it to progress. There are also plenty of secret rooms that you can find.

The bosses in this game are difficult, but not impossible. They are designed to require you to learn their moves in order to beat them. Luna Nights does have some bullet hell elements, but you almost never feel like it does since they feel like ordinary moves you would encounter in any other platformer game with bosses.

If you are a Metroidvania fan, definitely give this game a try. There are some areas in the game that are tedious obstacle courses which will definitely frustrate you and put the game's score into question, but apart from that, everything else in the game is incredibly satisfying to play.

Solid gameplay, excellent music and gorgeous pixel art, the only cons is the game is rather short.

A fun platformer with good music and tight time based gameplay. A solid bit of fun.

Went into this game knowing nothing about touhou or this genre of game. Found it surprisingly fun! Level design was good, art, music and animation was great. Three major complaints, though. First, all your skills and items are on the same wheel, with no way to skip to exactly what you need. This got cumbersome. Second: I had some technical issues on the PC port. Nothing game-breaking, butWent into this game knowing nothing about touhou or this genre of game. Found it surprisingly fun! Level design was good, art, music and animation was great. Third: it felt short, and it felt like most of the game was made to keep you from getting to each boss too quickly.

Overall had fun. would recommend it :)

Gameplay: The game gets very creative with the time manipulation and types of weapons you get. Once Sakuya gains the ability to walk and jump on time-frozen knives, the game becomes a whole different beast.
It makes each tool useful for combat, platforming and puzzles in their own way. Its remarkable. The "Graze" mechanic functions extremely well here. Grazing past enemies and projectiles

Grazing past enemies and projectiles is the fastest way to recover MP so it incentives the player to stop throwing knives from a safe distance and maneuver between the enemies using the different knife types as platforms or for attacking. Brilliant stuff.

Music: The music fits very well and they hype you up for the whole journey. Story: Its not very deep but it serves it's purpose: giving some time to breath from the tense combat, giving a goal and a mystery to look forward to.

    Presentation:
The animations are great (maybe the walk cycle is a bit wonky). Most of the enemies look great. The stages look sleek. The hud and menus look and function great.

It's hard to put into words how fun it is to stop time and jump on all the frozen knives you've thrown. You just gotta play it to get how it feels.

Touhou Luna Nights is a good metroidvania game with an frenetic and funny combat system, plus epic against boss fights.
