Best game of my life, visual are terrific, best soundtrack of any game of all time. Rayman 2 is minecraft compared to this beast of a game, if you don't agree with me you are wrong.

The game that possibly marked the first signs of Ubisoft's tendency to sometimes release unfinished and.or quite rough around the edges products.
This game is highly unpopular (Barely any reviews even, shame) and was probably just a sound check and preparation for Rayman 2.
Nowadays it is quite difficult to run this game on modern systems, and the PC is considered the better version...

After some fighting with the game I did manage to run it on Windows 10 but seems after the latest update it somehow broke my attempts as I was about 70% throughout the game.

While Tonic is not at all a bad game, and seems like it is filled with good intentions, it ended up being not too fun and sometimes felt to me more like a chore rather than a game so spend my leisure time on (As I usually prefer to finish what I'm playing).

One could say it's too old to be good nowadays and Yet I've finished and enjoyed Rayman 2 plenty of times by now, and can still enjoy it.

Perhaps it would have been a better idea to finish with this game back before Rayman 2 was released, but really, after playing Rayman 1&2 It's pretty hard to miss that this is a huge tech demo to Rayman 2. The whole atmosphere is very Raymanish, and yet this game just feels very unpolished.

Controls are not 100% responsible and pretty clunky, causing you to fall to your death over and over (perhaps that's why the game is quite easy and so generous with extra lives etc?) and that unfortunately impacts the entire experience.

Otherwise this might have been a bearable playthrough, but add the controls to the so-so graphics, music, story, not too likeable characters, and level design which is actually OK but really nothing compared to any of Ubi's Rayman series, I repeat - this game felt more like a chore at times, as much as it's painful to say.
There actually WERE couple of interesting ideas and game mechanics, some originality and some moments of fun, so this game actually had a potential.
Fact that Ubi never revived this game - it isn't really sold anywhere and never maintained support to more modern systems - shows that it really did fell flat, unfortunately!

I ended up thanking Microsoft for apparently setting me free of this game because of changes in the OS which made the game stop running on my machine. Possibly it's fixable (andor one can easily play the N64 version nowadays) but at this stage I figured I'd pass.

Rayman 2: The Great Escape is one of the most tedious, boring and vapid games I have ever trudged through. It shakes to the core my faith in mankind to distinguish between good and bad. Tonic Trouble is a little better than that.
