Perfect DLC. CD Project red created a wonderful story with amazing and interesting characters. The map got a bit bigger and a new forging system are included in the DLC. For its very cheap price and lots of content I have to say that this is one of the best DLCs out there.

This is how DLC should be done. Truly 10 hours of new, great content. A stable of new (and old) characters that both fit the tone of the game overall and move it in new directions. It's a fantastic DLC,well worth the small asking price.Besides the expected new weapons, armour, quests etc,it contains a truly brilliant main story and excellent characters, music and dialogue. The Witcher (and CDPR) keep on giving in what is now,I have decided, the greatest video game I've ever experienced (4 times so far).Blood and Wine cannot come soon enough...Masterful.

Perfect in every way. One thing, however, you have to ignore: reviews that bicker over the word "expansion." We have known for several months what this expansion entails and so it makes no sense to criticize it for "oh it doesn't have an extra map and this is more of the same." What does that even mean? Every expansion from every game is more of the same.

If you enjoyed the stories of the Wild Hunt, you'll fall in love with this...excellent characterization with great dialogue, strong, compelling themes, more humor and horror, funny Geralt's 11 heist, fun and challenging boss battles with enemies, game play enhancements and more.

A great example of what DLC should be. It adds a new crafting system to the game and expands the world a bit. The real treat, however, is the story. Without spoiling anything, I'll say that the antagonist is one of the most interesting I've encountered in a video game, ever. I really enjoyed the 10 hours I put into and I think it's well worth the $15 it cost.

The story is simply amazing, especially the parts about the new antagonist which is a very interesting character by himself. Be warned though, the fights are much harder than in the original game and you have to adjust your tactics to the bosses as well as you can.

It is not a simple DLC but a complex, rich parallel storyline!
    Great music.
    Story well told.

I played it before the end of the main quest, and the intrigue is partially linked with some events in the game. Maybe if it wasn't detached into a separate DLC the integration could be better. However, it's 10/10 because is the best DLC I've seen so far.

Great expansion pack with great story. It starts kind of slow, and I was initially disappointed when it started with a mission to kill some monster in the sewers, but then the story quickly starts taking unexpected turns, and builds up to become a really great storyline on par with the best storylines of the original game (such as the Bloody Baron storyline). Overall, a great expansion.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Witcher 3 is almost perfect, so is this DLC. I would give it 9.9/10 if this site allows floating point scores.
    Pros:
--- Shani, what a wonderful lass! I find myself fortunate to have lighthoused Triss and unicorned Yen and ended up being a happy bachelor, because I can now boat Shani without qualms!
--- The enemies are more challenging to fight, such as the boars, wraiths, and Olgierd.
--- Some plots are creepy and scary as fok, such as coming into Iris memory, fighting the self-healing wraith , and searching master mirror. I love that feeling!

    Cons:
--- 10,000 for enchantments, are you kidding me? It feels this secondary quest encourages players to seek free money glitches ...
--- bugs still exists --- such as loss of keyboard response after dialogue, and crash --- rarely though.

Some people might have expected this DLC to be a continuation on the original story, but honestly, that makes absolutely no sense. If you indeed finished the whole main story, you'll see that there is no way the story could continue on the same tracks. It's a new mission for Geralt in a long line of new missions.

    And why it works?

    Because witchers' gonna witch.

This add-on is an additional main-quest-row with a lot of new, interesting and vivid characters, a brilliant story and last but not least a lot of action, fun and romance. Considering the price of the DLC (got it for eight euros) I am just overwhelmed by its massive good content!

If you liked the main game, you will very likely have good times with this add-on too, because it makes more or less use of the same technical approach. This game will only offer new content, if you got some technical flaws in the main game, solve them before getting it.

To sum up you will have a lot of fun with this add-on and its new content, provided that your main game performed in a pleasant way from a technical point of view.

Nice bit of extra content, a DLC that is substantial in size and worth the price of admission.

Lastly the bosses were not hard or frustrating despite what some might claim, yes they're harder bosses than the Wild Hunt but those were the weakest spectre riders ever.

You'll know if this expansion is your thing if you've played the base game!

This expansion pack offered me a tremendous experience for a relatively small amount of money. I enjoyed virtually every minute, from the tougher boss fights to the awesomely-designed quests that spanned the main story of Hearts of Stone. This expansion is a great addition to the main game and a shining example of how additional content for all games should look.

    Well done, CDP.

The monsters, characters and environments stay true to the Witcher world. You can tell the people who made this game really care about this game and its environment. They are providing free DLC, but you can buy a season pass if you want even more Witcher goodness.

The fighting is fluid and there are horse races, crafting and collectible card games to add even more variety to a great well thought out game. Shame there are no sex cards this time though ;-)

The graphics look great even on the lowest settings and each quest feels like a proper adventure, not just fetch some feathers or kill ten wolves because they look scary. You actually feel like you are making a difference to the world around you, liberating towns and developing relationships.

This is one of the best games I have played. I won't say game of the year just yet, but it is clearly going to be in the top five!

graphics and story got any new stuff, but is as wonderful as always.
Allot of new songs with an oriental theme has been added that fits perfectly in to the game story. voice acting on the english version is as good as it can be 10/10

i cant give point for the lack of new quest, but they never said the game will have new side quest in this expansion .. it definitely could be a draw back, but i chose not the remove any points on this side since it never has been announced they would add.

if you like the witcher 3 story and story telling you will guaranteed love this expansion. Allot has been added ,allot of work has been done , its incredible that this expansions was even that cheap .. if you think on the content vs price you get more content her than some other games have for the full price, this is actually half of a new game or even more with its 10 hour of main story telling .. if CD project keeps spiting out more expansion in that price range , this quality i would happily by them all, after this expansion i started wishing that they instead of doing a new witcher just add 2-3 expansions with 10-30 hours each expansion and i think this game could life as long as world of warcraft .. ohh they also make a movie now that is not based on the game but more books.. that can be nice if you fell in love with the witcher world. The movie will have a hard time to life up to quality in story telling , acting and the world it self, old attempts haven't been very great but wasen't the worst ether

Hearts of Stone ads about 10 hours and tons of greatness we got from the main game, more undiscovered locations, treasure hunts, side quests, boobs, new enemies, new loot, and 13 trophies.
This is unfortunately just more of the same, most of this dlc is more side quest feely than something that could stand on its own.
We do however now have the ability to enchant our armor and weapons.
The recommended level to start this dlc is 30.
You can start the new dlc with your older save or with a premade level 32 geralt.
Hearts of Stone Starts out with Geralt killing a giant toad, only problem is, this toad is a prince.
Geralt is in a bit of trouble, or is he?
He gets some help and now you have to spend the rest of the game clearing your debt by being David beckhams genie.
You set out into the for the most part new locations to grant his seemingly impossible 3 wishes.
You’ll end up doing a heist, find yourself in a painted world, solving puzzles, and taking on some pretty great bosses.
There are quite a few awesome bosses, so you won’t be missing the lack of contracts too much, but these bosses are nowhere near as awesome as they are in the main game.
Hearts of Stone in my opinions starts off a bit slow, but once you get over the initial hump 3 hour hump, the much better 2nd half of the dlc and its story will have you hooked.
I loved the new characters introduced, I loved solving the mystery behind this stone hearted character and this mystery man that’s been following Geralt around.
If you’re still hungry for more witcher content, grab this dlc

Olgierd von Everec appears to be David Beckham with scars and a cocky attitude that makes you want to kill him from the get go - but he cannot be killed! You can however kill him right at the end of the game if you want!

There's not much to be said about gameplay - the expansion introduces no new concepts, so if you liked it before, you'll like it now, and if you didn't like it before, well, it's still the same.

The principal new addition to the game, mechanics-wise, comes in the form of an alternate way of upgrading your gear, the Runewright. Essentially, instead of adding glyphs and signs to your gear, you can add a single "Runeword", which has a very powerful effect, but takes up all three slots (it won't work with gear with less than three available slots). The whole process of unlocking the various levels of Runewords was expensive, time-consuming, and, in my opinion, not worth the effort - I'd rather just make due with my usual hodge-podge of glyphs and signs. All in all, the Runewright doesn't really fit anywhere - if you've already beaten the game, odds are you don't need what he's selling, and it you're starting a new game, his services are too expensive for you to realistically afford.

My one complaint about this expansion (and it is a minor one) is that it feels too disconnected from the main story. I'm sure this is because it takes place at an undefined time - the player could complete it before or after resolving the main quest, and it makes quite a difference one way or the other who would be around to interact with. But I missed the interaction with Geralt's usual circle of friends, even though we did get a brief reunion with Shani from the first Witcher game. I hope CDPR can improve on this one aspect in Blood and Wine, and make it feel a little more connected to the overall Witcher universe.

WOW, this is how you do it, one of the best expansions I have ever played. I loved The Witcher 3 and I was expecting this to be just a few more hours of questing, but it took the already fantastic game and improved it further on so many levels.

First and foremost, the main quest here is just brilliant, it's honestly better than anything in the main game, so fatal, so dark, so good.

The music is fantastic, the main theme in many different forms. I started to first pay attention to it after listening to some random kids on the street singing the song, thinking about it and how it connects to the story, it later become integrated into the music in game, making it so much more impactful, i loved this.

New armor sets are finally looking elegant and stylish, loving the New Moon set and with the new Runemaster you can improve it to your liking, transform it into the armor type fo your choice and so on.

Boss Fights!!! Finally really, really good boss fights probably for the first time in this series actually. Something that's been missing from The Witcher 3. This is basically Dark Souls quality. The Frog fight and The Caretaker especially, playing on Death March these were amazing challenges, I died to that frog like 20 times, but as in DS, you learn from your mistakes, learn the patterns and behaviour of your enemy and then with your skill you will beat the boss, satisfaction guaranteed. Even regular monsters are pretty tough around these new parts of the world.

Shani, my favourite girl from The Witcher 1 strikes back with absolutely amazing romance that puts Yennefer and Triss to shame. Way better than both of those, it's fun, it's romantic and just overall more satisfying.

So in summary - better quests, better armors, better fights, better romance. I love this Expansion and I'm now seriously looking forward to the next Blood and Wine DLC, because if it's even better than this... oh man. 10/10

With regards to the main story, there's little to complain about. Strong characters and strong gameplay elements overall. The exception to this are the few side quests and treasure hunts that simply devolved into go here and loot this thing or kill this guy. By Witcher 3 standards, these were fairly unremarkable. The ability to enchant items also had potential to diversify customisation options, but unfortunately is really nothing more than an expensive gimmick that serves no useful purpose.

With Geralt's final adventure coming to an end, CD Projekt Red did a masterful job. Action, intrigue, love and Gwent - it's all there and it's better than ever. Truly a finale worthy of the legendary Witcher.
