not so good technically, but really nice plotly. i won't complain about choices cuz its extremely stupid, plot is great, you dont think about matters of your choices generally, you just play. atmosphere is great, but game is too slow, sometimes its too boring. but overall its good

Its a great interactive story, i had never watched the Series or read the comics for The Walking Dead, but i found this game a great emotional experience.
However, the game sometimes has graphical bugs and glitches, and it crashes and soft-locks for seemingly random reasons, but the rest of the game is great, 7/10

The Walking Dead: The Game Season 1 – игра, благодаря которой мы с вами знаем о компании TellTale и ее творчестве. Barely passable, cannot understand why people were thrilled with it. Maybe the zombie apocalypse setting and what you can do with it just isn't for me. I think the whole telltale series was a niche product of its time, but maybe it will inspire future games. This one sure didn't have much game in it

The Walking Dead is a good game... until you have to replay it for friends that want to see it who never play video games. You get to see that choices don't matter that much. Anyway, just watching a story wasn't that much fun. Some of the early puzzles felt a bit too obtuse, but they improved the following episodes.

I did find it a tad tedious at times, and some of the QT events are a little annoying. It’s also sadly lacking in humour. But overall this is an engaging adventure game which incorporates elements of combat, puzzle solving, and some very simple platforming. The characters are well developed and come across as believable. You will fall for the charm of the child female lead and will feel protective towards her (unless you’re a heartless SOB). You’ll also care about the fate of some, but not all, of the other folks you meet along the way. I’m always a little dubious about how much difference your choices make in games like this, as there are always a limited number of outcomes, but it’s interesting making the necessary decisions along the way. Maybe one day I’ll play it again, with different choices, and see what happens. Graphically it’s perfectly suited for a comic book adaptation and it ran without any glitches. If you like adventure games, and if, like me, you’re a fan of the Walking Dead franchise, this is a game well worth playing.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story was absolutely excellent, eliciting real emotions from me. The characters were great, and the variety of game play was great, although not the best (easily overlooked by the great story). However, one thing I feel that was done terribly was the choices and how they affect the game. The ability to make choices is a great concept, but it wasn't executed properly, as it appears to be the mere illusion of choice (e.g. saving Shawn is pointless as he dies anyway, and you might as well steal from the Stranger, because he's going to come after you anyway, so might as well be guilty of stealing) which can easily be seen through. If the story didn't follow a set/linear storyline and had multiple endings that varied greatly from one another, it would've gotten a 9 or 10, but that being said, I was disappointed that your choices didn't matter a whole lot to the story, with only minor changes in dialogue and what happens (the biggest change being the presence of Carley or Doug, depending on who you saved at the drug store). But other than the choices, a great game for those who prioritize story over complexity of game play. Expand

Overall, the game commits what, for me, is the worst crime a game like this can commit, it renders all choices you make in the game feel unimportant. Time and time again. By the end I didn't feel like participating and only did so to see the story through. Save your money, watch a walkthrough on YouTube or Twitch.

    2) The glitches and errors. I lost my saved game first time playing and I also had issues getting the game to work with a particular screen I was using (odd I know it was nothing to do with the resolution just refused to launch). Also my choices moving from chapter 4 to 5 were lost and the game just made up some for me. This isn't just me as well, check the forums and you can see how many issues people have had with this game.

    CONCLUSION:

Overally good game, poor gameplay and problems with the game itself experianced by multiple players lowers the rating.

Good story. Great atmosphere. The cell shading is awesome. I shed some tears. But it begs the question: what makes a videogame, a videogame? Because even though I liked it, it looked like a giant cutscene which is interactive. Call me purists, but I think a videogame needs to be more "game" than "video."

I appreciate that making the story actually branching and having different outcomes requires an insane amount of content and can be incredibly expensive, but I don't understand the need for what is essentially false advertising of a feature that is pretty much absent.

I had the same problem with Mass Effect series.

Other than that and some clumsy controls on the PC, I think the game is very enjoyable.

The fictional choices I could make promised way more than it delivered. Telltale games also over sell this part of the game. In the first episode (for example) I could make two choices on who to save in a crisis. The first choice had no effect on the outcome (same person died both time) and the choice of the second choice turned to have very little effect as the character saved didn't have any "air time" in the 2nd episode and disappeared in episode 3. I can understand why Telltale Games does this because they feel that it would be too much work to make different graphical sequences with different characters and choices. But it ruins the feeling of me making choices.

Similarly the choices I make as a survivor is just for show. It's a point and click adventure. When asked to solve tasks like distributing food (scarce) the best way it's a social game and not a real dilemma. In other words, the performance for the characters left hungry isn't affected, which is why it's easy to avoid giving food to oneself.

Overall an average game for me. It would have been better if Telltale games hadn't oversold the game so much, promising my choices have consequences. They only have effect if you are VERY generous with that expression.

Unfortunately this is also where one of the games biggest faults comes in. It's amazing how Mass Effect 3 was torn apart for it's ending but this game escaped almost unscathed. The ending wasn't bad or poorly written, but in a game where it seems as if every choice matters, there is no unique ending. Every players ending will be the same. The same people will always die, the same people will always survive. If saving one person causes another to die later, choosing to not save that person will still result in the other's death. There is only one ending, and the way this game was made, that should not have been the case. The ending could not have been more disappointing, it has single handedly knocked 3 points off my score for it. Even with that fault though, this is still an amazing game, and should be purchased. You will laugh, and this game WILL make you cry at some point.

I knew from the moment I was forced to pick between two survivors to save that the game was going to be a forced story and that my actions would be limited, but hell, I never expected the game to blatently and utterly disregard my choices physically, with only getting some verbal acknowledgment of the choice I made.
