The Typing of the Dead really shows how anything can be improved by adding "…of the Dead" to it. Just think of "Windows XP of the Dead," or "Civilization III of the Dead."
-
This is the first time that a survival/horror game has made me laugh out loud, and still manages to retain all of the scariness that was present in the shooting version of the game. In some cases it's scarier because you're typing for your life, which is hardly an easy thing to do.
-
The word challenges and speed are challenging, and often funny, but the challenge level won't stop even a mediocre typist from finishing the game in just a few hours.
-
It's simple and immensely addictive. If not for a few graphical and aural problems it'd be a near perfect game to waste hours upon hours on.
-
An unusual game that might not have amazing graphics or sound, but its gameplay is unique and extremely fun.

PC GamerGenuinely fun – for the first 10 minutes or so, before it gets repetive. [Holiday 2001, p.68]
-
It has an interesting plot with lots of wandering around shooting off the limbs of the walking dead. However, you shouldn’t expect too much out of the dialogue or the background music.
-
Computer Gaming WorldIncredibly addictive. [Jan 2002, p.110]
