Jul 20, 2020Same problems as the first game; terrible level design, cheap enemy placement, claustrophobic environments, frustrating and repetitive combat, irritating gear upgrade system, etc. It’s an improvement over the last game, and it looks like nice, but it isn’t enough to overshadow the games glaring flaws.
-
Apr 3, 2020A pretty good soulslike game that introduces its own mechanics to the genre, however, it relies to heavily on its progression system, going too far in a grind-to-win direction.
-
Jul 22, 2020Can be rather repetitive at times, but it`s a good sequel, has a fun combat and simple but interesting character customization. Some welcome changes like parrying can spice up the combat. The voice acting it`s pretty bad for most characters.

Oct 22, 2019Favorite Thing: I loved The Surge 1 and I continued to have a blast with The Surge 2. It's still a killer Souls-like.
Least Favorite Thing: I crashed a few times in the early hours.
Date Completed: 2019-10-21
Playtime: ~ 27h
Enjoyment: 9/10
Recommendation: If you like The Surge 1 or Souls-likes then definitely. -

Dec 5, 2019Great game. With its own special atmosphere. It is very different from the Dark Souls series. Wonderful locations that are very interesting to explore and find new ways.

Sep 25, 2019Классная игруля ! Значительно лучше 1й части. Боёвка - топ. Локации стали больше и разнообразнее.

Sep 24, 2019Love it, big step up from the first game, which surprised me out of nowhere. Customization is insane in this game, worth a buy if you have the extra money after buying borderlands 3

Sep 26, 2019Really liked it! After the first one finished a month ago, I see that devs really made it 120% better. Bugs from the first part are gone, the mechanics are slightly different but I really dig it! Waiting for dlc!

Nov 19, 2019I couldn't get into the first Surge but this one swallowed me whole. I'm having a blast even though the improvements, while noticeable, are not exactly game changing. But the level design and enemy variety improved a lot and that's good enough for me. One of the best Souls-likes on the market.

Jan 19, 2020I've registered on metacritic, just to say how much piece of s**t that game is

Sep 27, 2019Оптимизация ниже дна. Играть невозможно. На экране каша.
-
Sep 26, 2019Usually I trust Jimquisition and Skill-up reviews... this game is a boring grind time waster, The difficulty is artificially inflated to create the souls feel. Combat is mindlessly repetitive once you figure out the patterns.

Jan 17, 2020With the environment changing from a factory to a city, The Surge 2 loses its appeal of heavy machinery. With a spiritual story and a confusing map, it was never really clear where The Surge 2’s gameplay or world atmosphere was heading. Luckily, changes in the game’s system are more clear. By making battles less challenging and improving the upgrade system, the game’s dismemberment-focused action has become genuinely more fun. That being said, there are just too many aspects that hold it back.

Game World Navigator MagazineJan 14, 2020Graphics are rarely worth mentioning nowadays, since most games look good or great. That’s not The Surge 2’s case: sometimes graphics are so bad it messes with gameplay, as it gets hard to tell if it’s a puddle of water, poison or a chasm. [Issue#242, p.50]

Nov 22, 2019Despite a few technical hiccups, The Surge 2 presents a marked improvement over its predecessors and an all-around good game.
