    Resembles the style of Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker Guide To The Galaxy. You will find similar sarcastic and critical humor here. With the cleverly designed puzzle, you will encounter the intelligent mind of developers.

    You can't see the like of this game, there is only 1 of this game. Your choices in this game are extremely beautiful. It tells you that it doesn't really matter at all and that your choices are actually equivalent. It can be compared to the relationship between God and human.

    idea of this game is really interesting, but the realisation, imo is bad. there is a tv show "Severance", and its awesome, really awesome, but this game is just... iunno its really boring just to walk and do nothing, also its too short

    It's litteraly my favourite game ever. Not for everyone, but at least try it! Even 50 years old peoples can realy much enjoy it. And the voice acting is just AMAZING.

    Funny novelty for all audiences! Or at least for people who area amused by things that are … unusual. I’ve read that more content will be added in the Super Deluxe edition, and I certainly plan on purchasing that in the future.

    It's difficult to rate a game so poorly when you love what it tries to achieve. There's this sense that you should just go back and play it one more time to see if you're in the wrong, or you played it at a bad time, or should try another play through. Sadly after 6 attempts, I'm pretty sure that The Stanley Parable just doesn't work for me.

    Stanley Parable isn't for every players. When you prefer good mechanics from good plot, you don't have anything interesting here, because it's experience, not game. Plot is very good, funny and interesting and the narrator is splendid! But gameplay... just walking and clicking on things, nothing else.

It's nothing amazing, and it's not really a "game", but it's the story of a man named Stanley who goes through a very mysterious life changing event with a sarcastic narrator reacting to the choices you make. Way too short for 15 USD, so I'd say add about 20 more endings and more secrets and this would justify the price a lot more. It's witty and humorous with funnyThis game is alright. It's nothing amazing, and it's not really a "game", but it's the story of a man named Stanley who goes through a very mysterious life changing event with a sarcastic narrator reacting to the choices you make. Way too short for 15 USD, so I'd say add about 20 more endings and more secrets and this would justify the price a lot more. 'The Stanley Parable' is kind of a funny, relevant, deep, creative, mysterious, frustrating and destabilizing game all at once. The narrator will sometimes make you get stuck for long minutes, and the proposed environment will sometimes seem very narrow. But that is the point, because this game puts everything it has on the scenario. It is full or original endings, discreet easter eggs, hilarious lines and philosophical puns. Get ready because 'The Stanley Parable' will do everything to make you feel uncomfortable.
    Can't wait for the 'ultra deluxe' version promised back in 2018.

Если почитать о проекте, то становится понятно, что он хотел доказать общественности определенную идею: в существующих играх слишком мало вариативности, слишком мало свободы для игрока, он все время остается зажат тесными рамками авторского повествования, в котором ему дается лишь незначительный выборТут надо понимать, что это не совсем игра, это перформанс и творческий манифест автора. Если почитать о проекте, то становится понятно, что он хотел доказать общественности определенную идею: в существующих играх слишком мало вариативности, слишком мало свободы для игрока, он все время остается зажат тесными рамками авторского повествования, в котором ему дается лишь незначительный выбор или вообще - его иллюзия. Кто играл в серию Mass Effect, тот знает, о чем речь - вроде бы очень много выборов, вроде какие-то персонажи могут умереть, но вместо них все равно находятся новые, и те фрагменты сюжета, которые казались упущенными, все равно заполняются подобиями. "Байка о Стэнли" - веселая ерунда, которая целиком посвящена высмеиванию таких ограничений. В ней по сути нет ничего, кроме концовок, но надо отдать должное - такого не делал еще никто. Здесь вы не встретите противников и вообще кого-либо, здесь нет испытаний, нет проверки умений игрока, ваш единственный враг, он же друг, здесь - это сам рассказчик, которого так приятно провоцировать на реакцию.
    Кстати, как ни странно, в игре хорошая графика, качественная работа со светом.

    Тем не менее могу назвать 3 недостатка:

    - Автор явно не умеет делать игровую анимацию. Отсутствие персонажей в игре - это не только творческая задумка, это еще и "ниасилил". В игре все-таки дважды появляются образы людей и один раз - манекен, который согласно своей роли должен бы двигаться, но нет, анимация отсутствует. Автор хорошо сумел обыграть это, но опытный глаз видит, в чем дело.

    - Игра почти ничего не запоминает об игроке. Например когда рассказчик ругает Стенли при манекене, он упоминает несколько других концовок, хотя игрок их мог еще и не проходить. Когда ты попадаешь в зал со статистикой, эта самая статистика - фейковая. А что мешало отобразить там реальную? Например в зале с секретной дверью рассказчик помнит, сколько раз ты туда попадал, и реагирует на это, но в большинстве случаев такого не сделано.

    - Концовку, к которой ведет диктор, игрок получает одной из первых. Она достаточно эпична, но ее наличие в начале игрового процесса наводит на мысль, что впереди должно быть нечто более грандиозное именно в парадигме сюжета. Но это не так. Хотя в игре 18 или около того концовок, ни одна из них не отвечает на вопрос, куда делись работники. И вот это плохо. Да понял я, что игра не об этом, но она ничего бы не потеряла, если бы ответ все же был.

    Получил ли я удовольствие от этой игры? Безусловно да. Но оно не имеет ничего общего со знакомым широкому игроку экспириенсом. Автору определенно спасибо за такой необычный проект. Но его бы еще чуть доделать каким-нибудь dlc и привести к завершенности.    … Expand

    I don't know what I can say about this game without spoiling anything so I will keep it short. The Stanley Parable is more a philophical thesis than an actual game. Do we have a choice? Does free will truly exist? What does it mean to be free? This game doesn't answer these questions (or does it?) but it makes you to ask them and find the answers yourself.

    Good - Having the narrator converse directly to the protagonist (Stanley) is an interesting perspective. It breaks the fourth wall in a way that you don't see in any other game. - The narrator had some clever, interesting, and funny things to say about game design, and choices. - Spurs some deep thoughts about the relationship    Decent for an interactive short.     - Narrator's voice sounded good.

    Bad

    - The game is too short. Even after completing and restarting to experience every path, it gave me less than 3 hours of play time.

    - The game is way too shallow. I couldn't interact with many objects, and ones that I could interact with didn't do anything.

    - The premise was too simple. The office is empty because the narrator removed them. Disobey Narrator, and he'll do some stuff to you, then restarts the game. This basically summarizes what happens on every path. There is very little depth to be found after the game has made its point.    … Expand

    It's a fun, refreshing experience. It's not much of a game though, much more of an experience or some sort of art within itself. It's a fun, refreshing experience. However this game is really short (2-3 hours of gameplay)

    Every little detail of this game is great, I don't think I can talk more without spoiling the game, I really like this game with every small portion of my heart, But that doesn't mean the game doesn't have downsides, The lack of replayability value and the short length it offers are the only two things that are keeping it from the 10/10 review.

    Simple, tiny, short exploration game trying to make the message about people's lives, with narrator trying to be briliant and funny. Sometimes the game itself and narration is surprising and valuable, but on the other hand most of the time it is infantile and borring.

    Genius. A very clever game that explores the limits of gaming with a very good sense of humor. There is not much to it with 2 - 3 hours of gameplay, but the price is pretty low to compensate for that.

    Interesting, but ultimately only a vignette, and having a new version does little to enhance the core, only the accessibility. The seed of an idea to be planted and bear fruit much later. As of 2020 the fruits are yet to ripen.

    Stanley´s Parable its a fantastic game. I give it the maximum score, because it achieves what only video games can achieve, it uses all its potential to give the player what only a video game can give. Its a fun, and great experience, which you don´t get in any other place.

    I loved it. I really really loved it. I laughed so hard about some of the narrator's comments.
    The Stanley parable is short and it's meant to be replayed over and over in different ways. It's cheap, but give the demo a chance too. It's not at all like the game (on purpose. it'll make sense) but it does give you a feeling of the kind of humor you can expect.

    The Stanley Parable is a very charming unique game, it takes you in this office building listening to the narrator speak and the game gives you the choice to either let him tell you the story, or just ruin it all completely. It was an alright experience when I played it but I think I may have just been tricked by the funny English accent into thinking this is actually a good game. Even though it gets some things right, I certainly don't think it's as funny as it thinks it is.

    The game does have a good resolution I guess, with the general point being that you shouldn't waste too much of your life playing video games. I loved the philosophical aspect of it really, you can't win the game in the game, you're just stuck in a devil's labyrinth. The only way you can win is to stop playing. Maybe they were too on the nose with this, because I did stop playing rather quickly, and I left with very mixed feelings about the whole experience.    … Expand

    A lot of endings, great sarcasm and communication with the player, breaking the 4th wall, the Source engine will be squeezed to the maximum.

    For the game made by one person - a masterpiece. And in general - a masterpiece.

    A truly bizarre and surreal narrative that talks to the way we play games as a whole, this is a fun and strange little adventure that will always make you keep playing to see what bizarre, mutant rabbit this magician of a game will pull out of its top hat.

    This is a brilliant narrative experience, but The Stanley Parable actually lacks somr gameplay features and some interaction with the world you're evolving in. The narrator's voice is perfect though, and the story (stories?) unfold itself in a very interesting way.

You play as Stanley, and you walk around an office while a guy tells you what to do. The End. Except there are 19 different ways to end the game. My only complaint is the lack of vehicles, skills trees, and emotion booths. Although the demo had emotion booths, so nevermind about that. I showed this game to a friend, who decided to turn around, shut the door, and lock himself in his office. In this game, you just walk around, open some doors, explode a facility, kill yourself (twice, maybe three times?), break the game (twice), and get very confused.… Expand

    This was a really interesting exploration of the tension between player choice and developers vision in game development. Hilarious, if you like dry humour.

    It has an hilarious demo. Very different from the game, but gives the right feel. I strongly recommend this demo, even if you have played the game.

    Not a particularly brilliant game. Some jokes were amusing, but quickly became old and boring with each "replay". Easy to get all endings within a few hours, and game quickly becomes pointless and worthless thereafter. Definitely not worth its overinflated reviews or price. Wait for a sale.
