These risks paid off, BIG TIME! After playing Sims 3 you wonder how we ever managed before? There is now a whole town that you can explore in (which looks incredible btw), all with no loading screens. There is new music, A brilliant brilliant game! There is new music, and combined with the look of the game feels like you are playing a game of Desperate Housewives or the Stepford Wives. While this by it self is great there is a lot more. New "moodlets" keep the game much more interesting, as do lifetime wishes. I did think that I would miss all of The Sims 2 expansions, but EA have taken the best from each and put them all into The Sims 3. The game continues to impress me everytime I play it, there is so much depth. The only problem I can find is with performance. I have all the graphical options turned up, and the game runs very slow (there are few more powerful computers than mine). I suspect performance will be improved in upcoming patches. Overall I would give this game full marks...it is truely deserved!… Expand

    All I can say is, wow! What an improvement on the last two games! The only thing that set me back is that there were a few items missing (diving board, hot tub, pool table) but like any Sims game they're on their way shortly, and judging by how much i like this one at the moment I'm going to be investing a lot in this title. It can be a little confusing with selecting houses and things from the neighbourhood screen (I think it goes without saying the old systems were more simple) but it's a new touch and judging by how you now play the game, it works. You zoom out from your home, mid gameplay, click a restaurant, and within 10 seconds your Sims have responded and are on their way in a cab (or your own, very generous costing car). Behing able to put an object on a table in a grid of 9 rather than just one spot is much more appealing than you'd think. Having a lamp and a pot plant on the same side table puts that little bit more depth into your design.. the capabilities are endless. There is so much humour within the game and the new Sim character design is great, although for some reason the stock heads are awfully wide, it doesnt take much to squeeze the cheekbones in. Skill raising is even more challenging than before and the game has seriously added a whole new lifespan to it with this 3rd title.… Expand

    I am giving this a 10, because I believe this game really is as good as it gets. I am a huge fan of MMOs, RPGs, Action FPS, RTS - what have you, the normal fare. But every so often games in other genres come along and grab me. This is one. I must be one of the few who never spent a long time on previous Sims incarnations - a bit here and there, so was familiar with the basics but not much I am giving this a 10, because I believe this game really is as good as it gets. I am a huge fan of MMOs, RPGs, Action FPS, RTS - what have you, the normal fare. But every so often games in other genres come along and grab me. This is one. I must be one of the few who never spent a long time on previous Sims incarnations - a bit here and there, so was familiar with the basics but not much more. So I come with a relatively fresh mind; dont really judge it by its history. This is one of those game that really can keep you going til the wee hours of the morning.. the effort reward structure is perfect - always one more thing to achieve. Its funny, and alluring, and entertaining - and creative! The movie mode is golden. Games really do not come better than this. My main concern is this: that certain tools have been denied the user in order to drive a vibrant microtransactions market. But that is not so much a comment on the game, but the revenue model.… Expand

    The Sims 3 is truly magnificent and an amazing peak highlight to the Sims franchise! With amazing visuals and graphics, it definitely pushes The Sims 2 to another level. Some might argue that the Sims actually look less like Sims now, but more human... which is a somewhat legitimate complaint. However, I believe it's a great improvement since they are not as abstract as they were before asThe Sims 3 is truly magnificent and an amazing peak highlight to the Sims franchise!     Also, the ability to just go through the entire town is simply great, and the ability to enter other people's houses immediately, makes the game so much more pleasurable.

    Of course, the expansions will add all the things we've lost that we had accumulated in The Sims 2, so one can only get those and fully enjoy the Sims 3. Maxim managed the nearly impossible task of making a better game out of the almost perfect Sims 2.

    The Sims 3 is an amazing game, that is very life like. I am looking forward to getting the new Expansion Packs. But I will agree that having no choice to have pets does kinda suck, and the graphics aren't the best. But this game will have you singing along to whatever Sim Language song is on the radio.

    The Sims 3 is an amazing game which gets better and better every time a new expansion is released adding new items new things and something that drags me pack to the game every time right now I'm prepping my family for Generations lol :)

    I am a simsholic. I love the games, now with this one it's more fun to build houses and design. So if you love that part of the game this is top notch. The sims characters can be more varied and more exciting than before. I miss playing pets and seasons from sims 2. This game will take getting used to, especially the camera angles.     Man oh man. This game is just ... too great. There is more customization and the sims in this game just really stands out. The graphics are beast on High settings and you can basically do whatever you want in the environment. Not much is really limited to what you want to do with your sims!

    Good game. First release (without the update) the game was bad because off the random crashing. Now late 2011 the fixes it take them almost 2 years to find the hidden bug. However about this game is that when you play it, the time will fly :D its a great game have fun with it. Ps there are always cry ers and trolls so ignore them play this :D you will love it

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I love this game - much better than it's predecessor. There's so much more you can do on here, what with all the new improvements. Now you can style your Sims clothes using a free, almost limitless range of patterns and colours. Creating amazing houses and gardens is fun too - what with making a matching bathroom or bedroom, or contrasting two different colours together so you can improve your Sims environment. And what makes it so much different than what came before is the addition of moodlets which shows exactly how your Sim is feeling, and the addition of traits that you can assign your Sim. It's a very interesting game, and goes into the more minor details - with all the creativity and imagination in the world you can do whatever you want to create an infinite number of possibilities for your Sims.… Expand

It would be nice to see a Free to Play Expansion, but it doesn't matter too much.     The sims 3 is really awesome. I love having the ability to suck up ghosts or to be a master thief. Adventures is lots of fun too, though I have trouble woo hooing the locals. I hate to say it but I can't find one thing wrong with this game... well other than lack of more expansions for me to buy. Keep it coming ea.

    This game is great fun. There's so much to do in this compared to the Sims 3, plus much more easy to navigate. I love the addition of new things like Moodlets, Lifetime Wishes and Rewards and Wishes. Also, it's also overwhelmingly addictive. It's my favourite game of all time.

    I have been playing EA The Sims, 2 and 3 plus their Online Game for many years and I just have to say, its gets better and better! Each game has its perks and yes there is a repetitiveness to it but if you are already a fan of The Sims, you won't be disappointed.

And there are a lot of things to do, it's never boring. I have to say just a few things: it's REALLY a shame not seeing the inside of a shop or building. Sure, this can be fixed with expansions like ambitions, but installing 3357127This is one of my favourite games and the definition of crazyness. I have to say just a few things: it's REALLY a shame not seeing the inside of a shop or building.     i came in on sims 3 and i am totally adicted to it. if you have never played the sims before you should love this game. i didnt think i'd be interested in it much but now its my most played game. it is a huge time sink though

    I love the Sims 3. I love it. I have never played the Sims or the Sims 2 so I cannot compare the two.

    I wanted to play a game where I could take control of someone's life and my friends recommended the Sims. It is very life like with many things you can do. The traits are unique and are plausible. Great game!!

    The Sims 3 is one of those games that you must play in your life.
    You won't be disappointed: even if you try, you would not find a negative aspect.
    If you want to enjoy this game at the maximum of the possibilities, you have to play it with a very strong PC.
    Anyway, I think that it could be called a masterpiece!

    Good game to play, great graphics, and no lags. I'm a Sims fan and this is my third game from the franchise. The first two being the original Sims and Life Stories. Huge improvement compared to its predecessor, where you have unrestricted access to other cities. I find myself spending at least an hour creating the houses to my taste, lol. The menus in Build Mode greatly improve, but mightGood game to play, great graphics, and no lags. I'm a Sims fan and this is my third game from the franchise. Apart from the occasional "woohoo", "try for a baby" and "kiss/make out" options on the game, I would suggest that it is suitable for fairly young viewers, and that the 12+ limit that is inflicted in the UK is well suited to the content of the game!     The Car driving, taxi riding, running to places, seeing your sim actually travel to places, etc. It's how a Sims game truly needs to be.
    Released in 2009 and yet has way too much to do that you end up being sucked in to the world of Sims for countless hours.
    Many Careers to choose from and even controllable ones.
    So many traits to choose from even from base game.
    Amazing moodlet system that feels rewarding in every way and isn't too hard to deal with.
    Lifetime rewards to challenge yourself.
    Unlockable Lifetime wishes for rewarding yourself afterwards.
    A Create-A-Sim that'll keep you making Sims as you keep downloading more and more mods.
    A never ending "Story Progression" System. When you don't control your Sims they live on their own and can raise families, pass away, travel around, move, etc. It's like they actually can do things players do.

    And so much more.
    Sims 3 is the best game there is in the Franchise. No other Sims game can beat it with the amount of Open World and content this game has.    … Expand

    I should not enjoy this game this much, I should not have sunk 300 hours into it, I should not have recreated my best friends, but I have, ad I keep going back. I don't like the philosophy of holding back a lot of features for dlc, but I can forgive it. The modding community made this even more special, especially nraas.

    i have the sims 3 from sunset valley to isla paradiso and i want to say that this game rocks! i have many story, many supernatural story, many job story, affair story, many town setting story. the music is great, listening sims music doesn't make you dork at all.

    OMG! Best Sims game ever! I liked the Sims Bustin Out and Sims 2 on consoles, but I didn't like how there wasn't a huge open world. Luckily, Sims 3 does full justice on that. It's a steal getting it for $19.99, with a very good expansion and the best stuff pack ever made. Highly recommended. Only downside is that trying to stop playing this game is like trying to stop doing a drug, so be careful!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A masterpiece coming out of the mouth of Electronic Arts. I was dumbfounded by this amazing machinery. The graphics are great, and the voices are clear, so you can hear them. Although there's a bit of graphic content such as WooHoo (sexual intercourse), it's all for the better side. I do think they (Sims) can be a bit annoying and/or dramatic sometimes, but they're only doing it so it's more realistic. During fires, Sims stand up and start to freak out. In real life, you don't always get out of your chair to have a pandemonium tantrum. Other than that, it's a perfect 5 Star game!… Expand

    The possibilities are endless in this AMAZING game. It's one of those games that you play almost non-stop for about a month, leave for a few months and then repeat over and over again.
    The Sims 4 doesn't even hold a candle to the greatness of Sims 3

    This is the best main Sims title that was made. The Sims 3 is very realistic and there's so much you can do with each Sim you control and that right there deserves every single credit it gets. Masterpiece!

    I like every single bit of the game - the world, CAS (although I think that the Sims 4 CAS is better, because you can just pick a body part on your sim by your mouse, and change it, for ex. you can just get your mouse on your sims stomach and get it fatter or skinnier), the house creator, the furniture, the clothes, and many more.     Sims 2 war schon der Hammer, Sims 3 ist einfach alles was ich immer wollte. Die DLC's sind top, Grafikstil 1A, Gameplay überragend.     The Sims series is one of the best known worldwide. After the great success of The Sims 1 and 2, The Sims 3 implemented significant graphics improvements, but it was no longer new. It is undoubtedly a game that guarantees hours of fun, but when I played it I had the feeling of being "more of the same". But I will give 10 stars!

    Best Sims base game. You can buy buildings and become a tycoon. You can buy fancy cars. you can grow veggies in the garden and improve their quality in time. A challenging one would be to make ambrosia. Which requires 2 very rare ingredients: Death fish and Life plant, and a very expensive recipe. One your sim eats it, it resets their age and expend their life span. You can live forever

The only reason I'm giving it a 9 is the apparent move to microtransactions, which rubs me the wrong way. There are very few items in-game and most items and articles of clothing cost the equivalent of $0.75 The Sims 3 is by far the best of the series. Apart from a few things which could be improved (stairs and dropping terrain) the build mode is v intuative and the 'Create Style' option lets you customise almost anything.     The game is good. It feels like a solid game but is missing a few features that have always been there. The first is the fact that they skimped in some areas where they added it other.     It's a really good game,but you can't built any lots!It was my fave part,so it's a bit bad for me.The other things are really exciting.Fishing,parties are fantastic!I love the graphics! But you've got to buy a new graphic card.If you don't your game will stuck.

("spoilers" of features below) No loading screens across town. The ability to place objects diagonally. Adding rooms and roofs to houses are much easier (click-and-drag will automatically do it. There are also "opportunities" (basically quests) doled out over time to get extra cash and maybe a raise at work. You can also choose what your Sim does while at work or school, which has an effect on job and social performance and may also help increase skills. Your Sims don't go to college, don't have pets to play with and can't "go on vacation", but considering the graphic upgrade and great attention to detail, there's no reason to let that stop you -- your hands will be full enough.… Expand

    Well worth the wait, the Sims 3 is a masterpiece. While not perfect, it improves so completely on the Sims 2 by offering both an open world with no load screens and endless customization. It retains the charm and humor of previous games, but it is a dramatic step forward technology wise.

    The Sims games have always put in a new era of life-and-style! Ive played the Sims 1 and 2 many times. Ive imagined that one day the Sims 3 would come out one day when I was younger. My friend and I even submitted many ideas about a Sims 3 game. Im still questioning whether this game was made because of me and my friends submits to the company.

    The Sims 3, is just plan fun. It has taken the very best from both sims games before it and improved upon it. Though the paying to get new sets is just an money grab i am looking forward to see what new stuff the expansion will add.

    I really enjoyed The Sims 3. It showed some impressive development from The Sims 2. I'm very glad to see its improvement and looking forward to The Sims 4 (if any). The graphic is incredible. At some point the game gets a bit inconvenient though acceptable. I wish they work on it a little bit and this game will be flawless.

    I can understand the complaints this game gets. That doesn't change the fact that this game is very fun and addicting, if only for just a week. This game implemented a lot of ideas that move the series closer to an immersive simulated reality, which is exciting. The next game is probably going to be a lot better.

    If I liked playing Sims I would love this game. It's got it all, real-time moving round the city, go to friend's houses, get a job, go to library, go out with your friends, go to the graveyard, build your house, furniture etc. If you love simulation games which are a copy of your own life but 100 times better, you will love this.

Without expansions, its a fun, content filled, funny, enjoyable simulation, with tons of things to do in your beautiful town. Meet friends, make food, make your sims wishes true...You can do it all. Only down side is you can spend some time learning how to do everything. Plus ipos version sucks

Not only do you have your career and relationships to focus on, but the "crafting" (for lack of a better term) - gardening, fishing, logic, etc. - is a lot more fun. I also like the option of being able to run your own business (I make HELLA Simoleons as a busker) and the exploration aspect of finding new seeds, meteors and making money that way. It kind of makes me wish real life was like that. LOL! I also love how your offspring don't end up with pointed ears like they did in Sims 2, which annoyed the crap out of me. I wish EA didn't take out the ability to have children with the Grim Reaper, that added a humorous aspect to the game that I loved, though apparently you can still mate with ghosts. LOL! So though I hate EA, I love this game, and I love most of the expansions, which I will review at a later time. I wish EA would add a multiplayer aspect to this game, though I guess that would make it an MMO, and seeing how The Sims Online was a spectacular failure I'm sure that won't happen anytime soon, but it would be cool if you could instance into other people's towns and explore around. Great game if you like simulation games like this. I've always been a fan of the Sims franchise and will continue to play it. Though I don't play it every day, every now and then I get into a "Sims mood" and will play it for a few weeks before moving on to the next game. There's something irresistible about meticulously creating your ideal life in as realistic a way as you can...and then bringing a ghost home, having a baby with it and trying to save your marriage. LOL! Your Sim's life can be as close to your real life or as wild and crazy as you want - or something in between - and that's something I simply love about this game.… Expand

    Its so much better than Sims 4, and offers the etiquette of a good simulation game. Fun, addictive, many options and more options than Sims 4 gives more freedom possibilities than ever before. Nevertheless, its great and the best Sims game to date.

    I didn't play The Sims 3 when it came out in 2009 because I was still on the curve of The Sims 2, plus I wasn't convinced it could surpass its predecessor. However, after playing, this game exceeded my expectations. We can find lots of new features, especially the open world and create-a-style, a more complex gameplay and the best visuals of the series. I guess the main complaints I haveI didn't play The Sims 3 when it came out in 2009 because I was still on the curve of The Sims 2, plus I wasn't convinced it could surpass its predecessor.     Amazing game with lively characters and lots of places to go and things to do! Watch your characters transform into a virtual character as you control them to either go to a friend's and throw a party, or take a dip in the public pool. If you loved the Sims 2, this is the game for you!

    I've spent more time on this game than any game that i've ever played. Even more than Rome Total War. This game was practically living through my teenage life!
    I'm too tired to write an extensive review so here are some positive and negative:
    + Indescribable replayability. + Amazing graphics for it time, especially for it genre. + Very innovative for it time too, if i'm not wrong, it    I've spent more time on this game than any game that i've ever played. Even more than Rome Total War. This game was practically living through my teenage life!

    Not as good as the 1st and not to nostalgic but this game has the best and most useful expansion packs and the game is more addicting than sims 2 and 4. I love this game!

    The Sims 3 has become one of my favourite games; with its expansions (and even without them) your experience playing this game will be simply wonderful. I really highly recommend this game if you love simulation games.

    The Sims 3 is a good game I play it on steam it runs well on my 4 gb computer.
    and ending on the 7/5/2017 most games are on sale I got the game for 5 bucks
    and 2 expansion packs for 10 bucks

    Sims 3 is amazing! It's an older game so the graphics aren't amazing, but the variety to control your sims is great! It's such a good game that the only thing the Sims 4 does better is graphics. Now, this game is one point away from 10 points. My reason for that is because as usual, it's another game EA released unfinished and sold the rest of it in like ten, two dollar DLC packs, whichSims 3 is amazing!     The first game I ever got addicted to. I still rarely will find myself coming back to this game. Only problem is the loading times and glitches.

    apesar de não adicionar muita coisa compararado com o the sims 2, o the sims 3 impressiona pelo o maravilhoso mundo aberto, ferramenta de criar mundos, progresso de historia e a ferramenta de criar um estilo. da raiva por que esse jogo quase acaba com seu computador

    The Sims 3 is easily the best installment of The Sims franchise. Even though it has lots of bugs and doesn't work that well on lower-end PCs, it's fun. DLCs are pretty good, adding lots of new options and objects. However, in 2020, most objects look outdated and not fashionable, which makes Custom Content needed to make perfect Sims.

    A game iv played since 2013 and will likely keep playing for many years to come as EA likely wont ever make a better sims game, the sims 4 sure wasn't.     The Sims 3 isn't a bad game, not in slightest, and too a different group of gamers this might be all they wanted, but for me this feels like a sequel that Will Wright had nothing to do with. There is no new magic, or amazing new idea that is going to re-imagine the whole series, it's just more and better stuff that we got in Sims 1.
