I can't recall assigning a game such a low score before. I usually ignore the really low scores because usually the reviewer didn't like one aspect of the game (e.g. no redefinable keys) and gave the game a 0.

Because the reviews of this game are very positive I gave this game more time than I think it deserves. I still doesn't deserve a score of 0, it did run and I didn't find any bugs

I tried to like it. I ignored the graphics, which are so bad they hinder gameplay. I don't mind the lack of voice acting. Not having played the first season the story didn't make much sense - more bizarre than interesting.

What is left - the puzzles. There aren't many puzzles and when I got stuck it was because I hadn't done enough blob hunting (low resolution version of pixel hunting) or I didn't walk on the correct section of the floor.

This game is an incredibly well written narrative experience. The soundtrack is superb as is the writing and game play. What truly holds it back is the very poor design decision to make it super low 8 bit graphics. I really think this interfered with immersion. Pixel art is fine and had this been done in the resolution of say the Blackwell series it would have been much better. This game is an incredibly well written narrative experience. Regardless, if you enjoy old style horror such as HP Lovecraft or Edgar Allen Poe then you owe it to yourself to purchase and play this incredible gem.

These reviews are very strange. Season 2 is clearly quite inferior to Season 1. Yet most of the reviews here seem to think there is little difference. I know opinions on games are subjective but in this case I think some objectivity is possible.

Season 1 works because of a great atmosphere that is in large part created by the excellent music. The story was also intriguing. Season 2

Season 1 works because of a great atmosphere that is in large part created by the excellent music. The story was also intriguing.

Season 2 fails miserably in all of these areas. It's like the developer was inspired and made Season 1, but then didn't really have any ideas for the continuation but just made the game just to continue.

Season 2 quickly becomes boring. The music is nowhere near as good as in the first season, and I can see how it would be hard to match in this followup. The atmosphere is gone and it seems like the developer decided that since they couldn't recreate the music and atmosphere of the first game, they would just make it an ordinary puzzle game. Even worse, the puzzles are idiotic and annoying.

I saw somewhere that people were inquiring about a possible season 3, and that the developer responded with something like: "We might in the future, but right now we want to do something else." It came across as if they were saying they were bored with that and out of ideas right now. Well, I can tell you that they must have been bored with the game and out of ideas when they did season 2, because that is definitely the impression I got while playing the game.

Season 2 of the Last Door is pretty much the same as season 1. It continues the story with different protagonist but nothing else really changes. So if you liked 1st season then you will like this one too and visa versa,

With a script that could have easily come from the haunted pen of H.P. Lovecraft, a haunting, minimalist string soundtrack by Carlos Viola and a genuine understanding of what constitutes true, primal terror, The Game Kitchen brilliantly concludes The Last Door’s narrative with an adventure that will richly reward players looking past the ultra-retro presentation.

The Last Door Season 2 was exactly what I expected it would be. It’s scary, the story is amazing and weird, the music is beautiful, and overall, it was just a wonderful series.

If Lovecraft and Poe could play The Last Door, they would be delighted by its remarkable atmosphere. [05/2016, p.44]
