A solid indie with some interesting gameplay elements that aren’t anything we haven’t seen before but is enjoyable anyway. I loved the interactive score in the game as well as the beautiful melancholic visuals. Never thought I’d dig Soviet aesthetic, but I did! I also wish I could get all the references written in Russian, I’m sure there were a lot. This game is just so good! I was so immersed in the discovery of this bizarre world and the time-travel aspect is such a great addition. First and foremost here is the ATMOSPHERE. I mean it is THAT good, trust me. Music, sound, artwork are always at the right place and right time (pun intended). Voice acting is strange but in a good way.

Of course the game is not perfect but it is a low-budget Indie for Christs sake! And it is studio's debut. I wish every debut was like that. Anyway, highly RECOMMEND!

Amazing atmosphere, art and music. I love how smart and deep this game can be even tho I wouldn't call it a game with hard and unique gameplay. Main mechanic is a joy to play around with. That's what i call a great Indie.

Games that allow me to plunge into such a touching, complex and wise story are extremely rare. I finished The Great Perhaps in one evening and it was amazing. The atmosphere is enhanced by the stunning music. And the art reminds that this is the first project of an indie studio that follows their own vision and wants to bring something of their own. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This was a real treat, played it and finished in 2 sessions around 2 hours each. So a short game, but that's a good thing as it delivers the story and ending in a concise manner. It doesn't overstay it's welcome like some other games, extending gameplay just to get extra hours in there.

The music, atmosphere and graphics are literally haunting. The contrast between the current time which has been destroyed by something (??) vs the idyllic (and maybe jaded) past before the disaster was really emotional for me.

Here's an example - in the past time, I noticed there would always be a background hum. Birds tweeting, engines running, sounds of life. Jump to the present and it's dead silence.

**Kinda spoilers for one of the scenes**
I walked past a church - in the past it was well looked after and beautiful. In the present it was boarded up, decaying, and someone had written "God is dead" on the walls. These are just a few of the gut-punching contrasts you see walking through the city. Honestly I haven't felt this much in a game for quite a while. It's not a AAA game, but I enjoyed it and I fished it (which is more than I can say for most of the big budget games I buy!!) Give it a try, even if just on sale, it's totally worth the experience.

Perhaps this is the rare case when I allow myself to disagree with reviews of reputable publications.
Yes, I agree, the game is simple, yes, the quests are unpretentious, BUT the idea is gorgeous! The ending is unexpected and leaves a pleasant aftertaste. Great result for indie developers!

The Great Perhaps - just another 2D adventure game, that can make your evening.

Игра хорошая, может увлечь на один вечер.
В игре мне много что понравилась, но особенно мне понравилась атмосфера.
Советую купить, но только со скидкой.

The Great Perhaps has a lot of good ideas yet fails to devote enough attention to them, raising lots of questions but not answering many. While the artwork and music are highlights, they’re not enough to balance out what is otherwise a disappointing experience.

TheGreat Perhaps sounds like a missed opportunity to deliver a truly enjoyable and unique piece of adventure.

Inspired by the great adventures and platformers of the last decade, The Great Perhaps doesn’t have even an ounce of their charm and magic.
