    Don't compare this game to Skyrim. It's unique, especially for the time it was released. Magnificent world, great storyline, absolutely fantastic soundtrack: this game has it all.

    Oblivion is-in my opinion-Bethesda's magnum opus.Yes,it's that epic.It includes a huge amount of quests,many RPG elements,a gameplay that's more fluid than Morrowind,with more balance in combat and magic.The main quest of this game is-hands down- the best main quest in the franchise.And it's very familiar with Lord Of The Rings.In the end,TES IV is my favourite game of all time.EspecialyOblivion is-in my opinion-Bethesda's magnum opus.Yes,it's that epic.It includes a huge amount of quests,many RPG elements,a gameplay that's more fluid than Morrowind,with more balance in combat and magic.The main quest of this game is-hands down- the best main quest in the franchise.And it's very familiar with Lord Of The Rings.In the end,TES IV is my favourite game of all time.Especialy since it's so addictive.I can't remember how many hours I've spent in this game.So with all that said I highly recommend you to play it.If your first Elder Scrolls game was Skyrim,you're gonna love even more Oblivion.… Expand

    Truly one of the best games of all time (Or at least my favorite) even a decade after it's release date.
    Brings back so many nostalgic memories, everything ties together so well & the music can be separated from the game and still stand on it's own two legs.

    Easily one of the best RPG games ever made. This incredible followup to Morrowind carries the same soul of the game while fixing many of the issues that Morrowind was often criticized for. Horses, fast travel, better merchant and leveling systems, better visuals, pretty much everything is much improved. Oblivion boasts a great story, gorgeous map to explore, seemingly endless amounts ofEasily one of the best RPG games ever made. This incredible followup to Morrowind carries the same soul of the game while fixing many of the issues that Morrowind was often criticized for. Horses, fast travel, better merchant and leveling systems, better visuals, pretty much everything is much improved. Oblivion boasts a great story, gorgeous map to explore, seemingly endless amounts of fun and quirky side-quests, excellent main quest and add-on material (looking at you Shivering Isles), and fantastic music. There are a handful of known bugs that can be fixed with the free "Unofficial Oblivion Patch" found online.… Expand

    Required alot of mods to fix. It became one of the best games in history with the amount of features you could add for free. I made a mod for it myself. A very interesting RPG.

    This is one of my favorite games of all time, it is indeed a spectacular game with so much content. This is a solid 10/10 from me, the fantasy aspects in Oblivion are top notch and you can really be who you want to be. except that you can't skip the main quest line, but that is not important.     I feel like I have to play Skyrim again, since it's been a while since my last playthrough, before I say this. But I think I may like Oblivion more than Skyrim.     I feel like I have to play Skyrim again, since it's been a while since my last playthrough, before I say this. But I think I may like Oblivion more than Skyrim. I spent around 150 hours in this game, and I did not start the main story untill I had played 80 hours, just exploring, joining guilds, making money, buying houses. If you have played Oblivion, you know what I'm talking about.

    Very good RPG game. Best 3D RPG ever made , Best Graphics ever made , Best modding system ever made. Best Lore ever made. Great gameplay, Nice quest. Oblivion is just Brilliant.

    The game may be buggy and glitchy, but it's one hell of a funny game, I can also tell without any hesitation that it's one of the most fun game due to how broken it is. Hell, it is even more interesting than BOTW so.

    My first game in TES Universe and the most favorite game :3 I love this game much more than Skyrim but never played in Morrowind.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. the elder scrolls 4 oblivion is the forth mainline game in the popular elder scrolls series it was developed by Bethesda game studies it was released in 2006 for the xbox 360 Microsoft windows and the ps3 this will be reviewed on pc so the games plot is about the emperor of the empire being assassinated by a cult named the mythic dawn but before he dies he hands you the amulet of kings and then the game just says go do whatever you want to do and it aint lying you can do anything want to go join the fighters guild then go to the fighters guild and join then makes some money and then buy a house or go join the mages guild and make spells want to follow the story go follow the story so the story is amazing with In depth lore and the gameplay is just as amazing with a good leveling system and combat making ur blood pumping anyway the game is worth a buy so go buy it on gog and or steam… Expand

    Tu personaje es completamente personalizable, ya que debes elegir una clase que se adapte a tu forma de jugar, incluso puedes crear una con las habilidades que mas te gusten, que no son pocas: mano a mano, cuchilla, despunte,    Una obra maestra. El mejor de la saga en mi opinion. Empiezas el juego pudiendo crear tu personaje, con varias razas a elegir, ademas de sexo, nombre, etc...
    Tu personaje es completamente personalizable, ya que debes elegir una clase que se adapte a tu forma de jugar, incluso puedes crear una con las habilidades que mas te gusten, que no son pocas: mano a mano, cuchilla, despunte, bloqueo, tirador, mercantil, discreción, robo, magia de destrucción, de ilusion, alteración, conjuración, misticismo, entre muchisimas otras habilidades que puedes mejorar y perfeccionar. El juego relata la Crisis de Oblivion, en que el emperador Uriel Septim ha muerto y no hay heredero, y solo tu puedes cerrar los portones de Oblivion que llevan a los planos infernales y malévolos de los daedra y el principe de la destrucción, Mehrunes Dagon.
    Asi pues, deberás explorar un inmenso mundo lleno de vida, enmigos lugares, ciudades y miles de personajes con su propia rutina, dialogos en que tu tomas partido y misiones en que ayudarles, todo esto con una inteligencia artificial increíble aun a día de hoy. Los lugares (cuevas, mazmorras, castillos, planos de Oblivion...) cuentan con un diseño y colocación de enemigos sublime, en que siempre estaras en tensión. Los gráficos de los escenarios son muy bonitos, aunque si es cierto en cuanto a los personajes no nordicos, bretones e imperiales los rostros son un poco feos en ocasiones. La música es muy buena y de una grata composición orquestral de épica y fantasia. Toda decisión que realices influye en el juego, y a la rutina de los personajes. Puedes unirte a distintos gremios como el de magos, el de los ladrones el de los luchadores para poner a prueba tus habilidades junto a otros que, como tu, aspiran a ser que el mejor.
    La cantidad de items, armas, hechizos, bastones magicos, alimentos, armaduras y vestimentas que puedas encontrar son casi ilimitadas, ademas de que puedes encantarlas para que tengan mejores efectos al llevarlas puestas o atacar con diversas armas, pudiendo incluso editar su nombre. Puedes trabajar en la alquimia y crear pociones con las diversas plantas y hojas que recojas, pudiendo crear combinaciones unicas debido al alto numero de ingredientes esparcidos por el mundo. Es un juego maravilloso y unico que no debes dudar en jugar, una cantidad de horas practicamente ilimitada, docenas de habilidades que mejorar, items que conseguir, gente con que hablar, enmigos que eliminar y misiones que cumplir, todo esto en una trama aplastante llena de magia, fantasía y un mundo lleno de vida. Tambien hay dos expansiones llamadas Knight of the Nines, en que haces frente a un malvado caballero a petición de los dioses, y Shivering Isles, en que te encuentras en las Islas de la Locura para servir a Lord Sheogorat (principe daedrico de la locura) y ayudar a su reino, divido en Demencia y Mania.    … Expand

    The magnum opus of the Elder Scroll series in my opinion. The other entries do have some things that are better than Oblivion but I think Oblivion really hit the nail on the head in terms of creating a game that was both easily accessible and complicated for more hardcore RPG fans.     Perfect rpg. Everything i ever wanted from rpg. Original quests, Captivating storyline, and this wierd feeling that you get when you boot it up. That just makes you want to play it forever. Better than Skyrim.

    This is the best Game from Bethesda. It's a Masterpiece. The quests are perfect, the story is unbelivable good and the world is very nice. The only bad thing are the Oblivion gates. They are every time nearly the same and are not fit well in, in the game design and the world.

    Thats my childhood right there. I remember how i got scared of everything and those bugs are just AWESOME. (Bugs in Oblivion are an actual enjoyable part of the game, if you dont like them you know nothing about Oblivion :)

    My favourite game ever. The graphics and clunky AI is what gives this game characterics and makes it memorable and I honestly feel bad for the people that can't see the beautiful universe, quests and lore behind it. No game's world has ever fascinated me as much as this one.

    Recently re-played this game, and although it is as janky and weird as it always has been, this is still one of my all-time favourite first-person role-playing games, and probably the only game I have replayed as much as this. Coupled with The Shivering Isles expansion this game is just unbeatable. Would I recommend this game to someone who has never played Oblivion before? Probably not.

    The game engine is FAR from perfect, and the developers in their current state are a bit of a toss-up, but this game right here defined and set the bar for RPGs to come after. I have played a bit of morrowind and of course skyrim, but to this day, no other game can do for me what Oblivion did. Just wow. This game is bethesda's eternal shining jewel, best Elder Scrolls experience imo (atThe game engine is FAR from perfect, and the developers in their current state are a bit of a toss-up, but this game right here defined and set the bar for RPGs to come after. I have played a bit of morrowind and of course skyrim, but to this day, no other game can do for me what Oblivion did. Just wow. This game is bethesda's eternal shining jewel, best Elder Scrolls experience imo (at least until TES VI, if that's better than of course this statement doesn't stand, but idk... seems like there's a number of ways TES VI can flop given the expectation and hype).

    This is the game for the hardcore crowd, the D&Ders, the PFers. TES V Skyrim while nice, is a watered down RPG made to appeal to the masses. Let's hope for VI that they'll give us another diamond of an RPG.

    Visuals - 5* (at the time of release it was probably like an 8)

    Another side note I found the voice acting to be decent and often hilarious (in a good way). Sure it's limited in the amount of different/unique voice actors they used, but to this day I'll never forget certain character's lines and the quality/timbre of their voices.     1) Horrible, boring and monotonous dungeons.
    2) RPG elements are present in the form of stubs 3) The world is pretty monotonous, but very beautiful 4) Fighting is better than in Morrowind, but still needs some work. I can't say that I didn't like the game, I really like the additions and factions in this game, they are made at their best here. Because    Well, let's start with the cons:

    That was mmy go to when I found my old PC couldn't run Skyrim back in the day. Freaking great game! Some side quests here really blown my mind, and every time I think about Oblivion I get sad for the fact that many games today abuse repetitiveness to pretend they have a lot of content.

    One minus in difficulty settings. It's not balanced at all. Better play on normal.

    One of the best games of all time in my opinion, When i was young and this game came out, it was huge. I feel like it opened up the door for games of this nature, Would highly recommend, even in 2022.

    I've had TES IV: Oblivion GOTY ever since it came out and this was my teenage-years' favorite game; of course, this is still one of my favorite games. There are some strange things in the game (like how guards can detect a crime, sometimes, about 1 km away--just check the construction kit) that make parts of it funny.

    The story is good and there are quite a few side quests to go with,    I've had TES IV: Oblivion GOTY ever since it came out and this was my teenage-years' favorite game; of course, this is still one of my favorite games.     Graphics are obviously outdated, as this is now a very old game. However, if you're an RPG fan or Bethesda fan in general, you can't NOT play this. The plot's great, the writing and scripting of the quests are so fun and have twists and you'll definitely come back to this game time and time again to play. Fun game overall. Worth a play!

    Old and buggy, but still good. I played TES V Skyrim and got deeply immersed in the lore of The Elder Scrolls long before I ever even considered playing this game, but I really love the added context you get when exploring Cyrodiil and going through the main Quest. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys Skyrim and it's lore and especially to those who are still new to the series as whole.

    I find it very addicting so in that sense I wouldn't recommend it. But yeah, it's a great game. Buggy as heck, but a lot of fun.

    Even after over a decade of Skyrim, I'd say Oblivion is still worth playing. Skyrim is undoubtedly better-designed as a game, but Oblivion feels more like a fantasy-adventure to me.

    16 yr old game is refreshing to play, a break from all the high tech glitz & glamour often seen in today's games. The mechanics & elements of this game are unique for its time.

This game has high replayability, intense depth, and each playthrough and character can be completely different.     Amazing game. I just started and solved some quests (like 5 hours of play) and this game pushes you to play and pay with sleepless nights. It's hard to play Oblivion and have a job.

Is the game buged? Yes, some problems with quests and the stealing system definatly needs to be changed because how are they going to know that a spoon I stole is in fact stolen when no one saw me do it? Have I heard of other problems, of course but at least most of them are not as severe as Morrowind when it was first released. The only major complaints I have is the removale of the minor skills (you only have major skills to level up on now) and many other skills are now gone, I don't feel that there is any less customization involved for the players as far as items go but it does feel less flexable for players to actually progress them the way that they want. The new way to use the speechcraft skill is indeed ludacrist, I also have a high end pc and the draw distance for the outdoor buildings needs to be looked into because all I see with building in my direct line of view is see popups when walking towards them but coming over hills or through the forest its fine because something is obscuring your view anyways. Those are my only rants about so what do I like? Literally everything else, so much so I can't describe them all in this vote! This maybe a spoiler but if you find something that can cast electrical damage, find the nearest body of water than cast it into the water and you will see an awesome effect. Why did I give this a 9 then when I like it so much? Simple even though the bugs are few and far between and there are some petty annoyances with some of the systems it does take away from the imerssion factor which is what any rpg tries to do with annoying but you can't like everything there is but don't let these problems distract from what is done really really well, besides what good is a pc game with out a patch? oh and mods too!… Expand

    This is a fine combination of action, RPG and FPS. The sounds are great, as are the graphics. My only complaint is the fact that the PC version is prone to crashing. The expansion packs are also great. If it ran consistently, I'd give it a solid 10. Save yourself some money in the long-run, and buy the game of the year edition.

    Aelius makes a good point about the production values with some of the voices, but most of this game is grat and the gameplay is excellent, with massive regions, on-the-fly loading acrosss large maps, and amazingly fun and detailed combat. Even better, it's running fine on my 9800pro with some pretty nice graphics, though certainly not as pretty as say the XBOX 360 version.     Morrowind was one of my favorite games... Oblivion improves on it in every single way exept one! The awsome leveling system from Morrowind returns. Alchemy is a joy to perform. I have a top of the line gaming PC, and I would say it is absolutely the best looking game ever, the Oblivion Gates are the best effect I've seen in a game. The fighting system is more fun than oblivion, and Morrowind was one of my favorite games... Oblivion improves on it in every single way exept one! The awsome leveling system from Morrowind returns. The fighting system is more fun than oblivion, and magic is lots of fun. The new journaling system makes figuring out what to do on a quest after a long break easy. No complaints except: 9 instead of 10 because the menu system is perhaps the worst menu system ever on a Windows XP game. At level 20 you have 50 spells to cast, but you have to scroll through them 7 at a time with only 8 hot keys. Swapping dagger for a bow is tedious (my hot keys are used up for magic already). Basically, the menu interface of Oblivion is terrible, but at least the game pauses while you suffer thru the 1980's console reject screens. The interface is so bad I would have given the game a 5 my first couple days playing... but I've gotten used to it.… Expand

    its one of the best prg that i ever saw,in my life and i have seen a lot..played the morrowind,it took me a lot of time which i wont regret on neglecting other real time expieriences,something that i ll probably do with oblivion also..great game...Also something to mention to giancarlo b,and all other pc fan boys;maybe if u looked at the xbox360 version on a 52" something monitor u wouldits one of the best prg that i ever saw,in my life and i have seen a lot..played the morrowind,it took me a lot of time which i wont regret on neglecting other real time expieriences,something that i ll probably do with oblivion also..great game...Also something to mention to giancarlo b,and all other pc fan boys;maybe if u looked at the xbox360 version on a 52" something monitor u would nt be happy with the result....i trashed my friends pc version,with no antialising and hdr at the same time running has at 1024*768....on 6800 ultra,with newst drivers,2gigabyte ram and amd anything at full,(sorryyyyyy!!!)playing my xbox version on my 1600*1200 pc monitor at 1280 p wtih a component 2 vga transoder....my mate is still gathering the pieces of his jaw from the ground....and he version was at least choppy,(the horse ride,.....yuk...)As for the controls,i can still beat most of pc wannabe either mouse,or joypad...if you practice it will come....and i come clean at both(although i still b lieve that mouse key +fps,are currntly the best combination) ....just 2 set somethings straight....and 4 the record,try not compering cheap tv or oversyzed set ups with a smaller pc monitor,cause u would b surpised how auful a good image shows at three to 4 times bigger screen..now matter the resolution...try hooking up the pc on a 36 or bigger monitor with the same resolution and u ll see what i mean...support games,not tech specs..… Expand

    I hated morrowind but this game is AWESOME. I would have given it a 10 but the graphics engine sucks(at least for me. I have 6600GT). I can run farcry with all settings high and game runs extremely smooth but even with all settings set to minimum oblivion still stutters. Other than that the game is perfact a must have rpg fans.

    One of the best RPGs in years. Stunning landscapes, detailed indoor scenes, decent AI, and a great story make this a great game. While not perfect, it is a close as a RPG has yet come.

    A free-form non-linear game that offers so many choices of adventuring and so many options to do the quests. I was impressed with the challenge it provided and the graphics were superb. My only complaint is with the levelling system, being too slow and it takes a long time to level up.     With mods this is one of the best games out there. Out of the box the game lacks because of some stupid features (like the leveling system which is completely retarded), however, the thousands of mods make this a fantastic game. Somewhat steep hardware requirements to enjoy all the graphical eyecandy. Recommended

As far as the main quest goes, yes it's short and rather unimpressive but much like old RPGs the wonder of the game is in the side-quests and off-the-path interactions. I put dozens of hours into this game without touching the main quest for days on end; I've played through four times and STILL find new things to uncover with each playthrough The game is relaxing when you want it to be, tense when it needs to be, and always engrossing. I don't know why the "old school" crowd is so venomous because it doesn't adhere to the rules of other RPGs. Why does everything have to be the same? Don't see Oblivion for what it isn't, see it for what it is. I can appreciate and love both types. 9 because while the game most definitely deserves its acclaim, some of its niggles had no business being there, like the console-ish menu system and repetitive voice actors.… Expand

    Great, no brilliant game, leveling system gets annoying some time, love the addons. Great graphics, though it seemed to be missing something, and the few odd glitches got annoying.

First of all there is a skill setting in the options menu...if it gets to hard, put it down a tad...and if its all the way down and you're still getting your butt kicked, well then you just suck, because the very first fight i got in i owned some poor sap in red robes with my fists alone...so complaining about it beingok...i got a bone to pick with some of you..."OMG IT GOT TO HARD!"     This game is flat out amazing. I have never played a game of this depth and scope. The plot in incredibley involving. The quests are challenging, the detail is incredible. Ther is just such an amzing amount to do. The only thing stopping me giving it a 10 is the fact that to truly experience this game ( on the pc version) you will need a fairly hefty machine.

    Oblivion is by far the closest I have come to playing D&D Sunday afternoons with my friends (yes, I did that, though I’m on medication now), all wrapped up in a stunning package with tens of thousands of lines of spoken dialog and good music.
