    The game still has its flaws, but it's actually pretty brilliant and addictive, even in 2023. Unlike The Crew 2, it doesn't have aircraft or boats, but if you're car-focused, don't even hesitate. Speaking of cars and the story, this game is far better than its sequel. The car physics is better, the map is better, graphics are better (!) and the overall fun is better. Tried it when I got tired of The Crew 2 after reaching 93% completion and I sucked in badly. I honestly recommend this title even in 2023. I wouldn't go for comparisons with the FH, NFS or Test Drive, because every one of those games has its individual touch. And I would easily assess all of them like 10/10, but not forgetting that The Crew still has some minor bugs and can become a bit repetitive, I need to give it 9. All of the mentioned games have something fresh in them and should be tried. It's the same about The Crew. If you love TC2, you'll love TC, and if you didn't like TC2, I'm even more sure you'll like TC. Just try it, it's cheap as hell.… Expand

    Excelente juego, totalmente infravalorado. Ofrece un mundo que explorar, en el que competir, descubrir, o sencillamente, dejarse llevar. La historia, sin ser innovadora, ofrece suficiente variedad como invitar a ser finalizada. Es un mundo fotorrealista, con unos colores desaturados que van en dirección contraria a la tónica general (HDR).

    Lets face it street racers are street scum. This was a free giveaway on PC Uplay. Looks fine, runs fine, sounds fine. Street Arcade racers have been done to death. So more of the same really. Kind of reminds me of the old Test Drive series. I do credit the crew with one thing. At least they put people on streets.     Average graphics, gameplay and history. You have to be online which is pretty bad. Mechanics are often frustrating. The game is quite repetitive and does not have a good influence on changing and tuning a car, or changing a car. Can't even beat games of the past decade.

    At first i thought this will be the new underground 2 with incredible graphics, after few hours it becomes rather boring and the multiplayer races dont save it at all, pity :(

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I like this game very much. I bought it in July 2016 and still love it. There's a lot to experience. From story missions to individual PvP races, tests, faction missions and other challenges. After all, free riding with and without your crew is a lot of fun.     I am a huge fan of open world racing games and racing games in general.If i take a look at The Crew,the game is good.It has a fun arcade feel to it,nice cars and a map suitable for everyone`s taste.
    But the thing is,its not perfect.It has a lot of flaws.
    First of all, i understand that playing with others is fun but does this game seriously need to be a always-online title ?     First of all, i understand that playing with others is fun but does this game seriously need to be a always-online title ? No, it does not because it has enough features to be considered a great single player experience,not to mention that it has a freaking story line!
    Well,at least when entering solo events,you can pause and even continue playing if somehow the internet connection goes down.
    Second thing i have to point out is the rubber banding AI,which ruins the whole racing experience.
    Why ? Because the game has a system of upgrading your rides where you get them by completing skills,events or buying them in tune up shops.But the problem is, those upgrades don`t mean s*it when a 100 lvl slower car can magically get passed you in a race and leave you in the dust!
    Seriously ???!!!
    Another thing,the crash physics.They are terrible.
    When driving 300 km/h,after colliding with a car,my car does not slow down,it feels like the traffic are a bunch of balloons! Hit a tree ? No problem ? You can easily move past it , no sweat.
    I also noticed some modeling fails.While driving my Dirt spec Camaro on a wooden bridge during a race,it suddenly "trips" and starts to roll at the finish line!
    I said enough,its a fun game but it feels very unoptimized at the same time.

    Ivory Tower's intention may have been something good. But at the end of the day, The Crew is as deep as a pond. A badly-rendered, microtransaction-filled and always-online pond.

    This game look like a super game, better than Test Drive Unlimited 2... Just look beautiful. But driving is juste awful : I have impression that cars are aerocraft (lol!) and same on road (wet/dry), in water, offroad... and collisions... no comment, this is totally unrealistic.
    I think this game is as zero and boring than all the last Need for speed also...

    Ignore the NVIDIA gameworks graphics !!!! Get shocked for the first street racing game ever to travel across america !!! Tune your cars either buy or get them through challenges scattered on the road and fight your way through 5-1-0 underground racing leagues that divided in each America's continent. interface are great and unique, lots of customization but lack of Japanese cars since itIgnore the NVIDIA gameworks graphics !!!!     Bad Experience and Bad Investment in both the game and Ubisoft. Experiencing never ending errors and crashes from the day of purchase and would never be able to even experience the game as the support team in Ubisoft does not help at all. It's exactly like burning your money away. Please do not buy this game and I will not trust their second release of The Crew 2.     The game is so bugy it's unplayable.
    Game was released in 2014 - Bought it with my brother in middle of 2015 - The game is still FULL of bugs and the servers are lagging unbelievably.
    -Frequent freezing -rubberbanding AI and PC cars -multiple different "connection issue" screens, that simply dump you from your game into menu -desynchronisation issues causing cars being suddenly 10    The game is so bugy it's unplayable.
    Game was released in 2014 - Bought it with my brother in middle of 2015 - The game is still FULL of bugs and the servers are lagging unbelievably.

    -Frequent freezing
    -rubberbanding AI and PC cars
    -multiple different "connection issue" screens, that simply dump you from your game into menu
    -desynchronisation issues causing cars being suddenly 10 times faster then the other cars of the same model
    -unable to join crew with other players
    -unable to join mission together in a crew
    -unable to receive invitations to random missions (chases) while in a crew with anybody or even alone
    The list goes on and on.

    All those issues are still not fixed in 2017 !
    The devs / publisher apparently don't care to fix this game at all.

    ..and Ubisoft support will tell you to check your game files integrity :[
    After 3 days of waiting for reply.

    The game's 3d engine is really slow compared to other, better looking car games.
    The world in game is very undetailed.

    I am sorry I cannot really review the gameplay since for both me and my brother the game is so broken we weren't able to really enjoy a single mission out of about 15 we suffered thru.

    Please take my advice and don't make a stupid mistake we made, of buying this game.

Bisogna dire che io ci ho giocato solo nel 2017 ed ha subito tanti aggiornamenti e alcuni (Wild Run) lo hanno completamente stravolto, quindi il gioco di adesso non é sicuramente nello stato in cui era al rilascio. La prima cosa che mi ha lasciato a bocca aperta é la mappa. Si hanno a disposizione tutti gli USA (ovviamente in scala), maDevo dire che questo gioco mi ha colpito in positivo. Bisogna dire che io ci ho giocato solo nel 2017 ed ha subito tanti aggiornamenti e alcuni (Wild Run) lo hanno completamente stravolto, quindi il gioco di adesso non é sicuramente nello stato in cui era al rilascio. Visitare nuove cittá come New York, Las Vegas, Detroit, é semplicemente fantastico. Il senso di libertá che ti da questo gioco é veramente altissimo. Giocare con un amico é relativamente facile, anche se a volte l'auto del nostro compagno puó scomparire nel nulla per poi ritornare per magia a caso. A livello di gestione dell'online infatti direi che ha i suoi piú grossi difetti, che comunque a me personalmente non mi hanno mai impedito di giocare con un mio amico e divertirmi. Il parco macchine é molto buono, ci sono tanti veicoli disponibili e molto diversi tra loro (ci sono anche le moto, i SUV, le supercar, hypercar, auto comuni, ...) e le gare si dividono in varie categorie (categoria off road, tuner, pista, raid, ...) . Comprando 1 volta una macchina (ad esempio una Skyline) si possono comprare poi i vari kit e scambiarli ogni volta a seconda della gara che ci aspetta. L'economia di gioco nelle prime ore di gioco é molto severa e probabilmente spinge all'acquisto in-game di contenuti aggiuntivi, cosa che mi ha scocciato abbastanza in quanto non siamo di fronte ad un freetoplay. Le possibilitá di modificare le proprie auto sono tantissime e si possono cambiare anche gli interni, le minigonne, i fanali , come su need for speed! Ogni tanto girando a caso per la mappa (assolutamente gigantesca) si incontrano delle mini-sfide che permettono di fare punti e sbloccare nuove parti per la nostra auto, rendendo i viaggi mai noiosi. Anche tutto il resto della componente online é studiato veramente bene, ci sono un sacco di modalitá per il PvP e il sistema a fazioni (ogni fazione corrisponde ad un animale) fa si che grosse quantitá di giocatori collaborino assieme per concludere delle missioni (missioni di fazione) e fare punti per poter superare le altre fazioni. Nel complesso un gioco ricchissimi di contenuti, originale, con un'ottimo comparto tecnico (musiche e grafica) ma afflitto da qualche problemino con l'online e una politica di acquisti in-game poco appropriata. In ogni caso assolutamente consigliato a tutti gli amanti dei giochi di guida… Expand

    Started off boring, difficult AF to control the vehicle they give you (poor handling). Pushed myself to play a bit further.
    Story started getting considerably more interesting but I realized the poor handling is going to require A LOT of grinding to fix -- it is a Car-pg after all.
    It made the game unreasonably difficult from the start. Things took a turn for the worst a few "tasks"    Started off boring, difficult AF to control the vehicle they give you (poor handling). Pushed myself to play a bit further.

    Things took a turn for the worst a few "tasks" into the story when they introduced an "American" law enforcement officer by the name of "Clara WASHINGTON" (!!), who opens her mouth and belches out a thick British accent... I knew at this point this story is going to be cheesy AF to compliment the difficult AF and tedious AF, so I quit and uninstalled the game.

    Buy this game if you're into difficult games, time-consuming games, and cheesy plots such as a British voiced American presidents or female Navy SEALs, etc.    … Expand

Boring story, with a bunch of cliches, not interesting, even annoying cut-scenes that often are very illogically placed. Poor menus and UI.     The map covers the Americas, and she is really great! The game looks good, the scenery varied, to ride across America very nice!     Your car can be strongly customized. This is executed perfectly! You literally retirees the car and replace the part. With your car you really cherish.
    But the game has a huge problem that is catastrophic for the racing game is piiska machines. They are ruled awful! As the irons on people. The game was released in December 2014 and physics are not fixed. To drive the car really hard. hard to turn and sometimes. when you dial the speed, then the car starts to go in zigzags, even if you go in a straight line. In a racing game just do not comfortable to ride!
    If physics would have been different, then The Crew would be a wonderful game. All the same, the open world is beautiful and nice to ride across America. On the road are scattered various tests you can pass the race. The game does not get bored. Especially on this ride obshirnom the world and other players. You can ride with your friends. But because of the terrible car physics you will not want to return to the game.    … Expand

    The Crew was definitely better than expected. The racing is fun and never gets boring because of all the different terrains and car classes. At the same time you can explore and level up like an MMO. Doesn't need more than that to have an entertaining game.

    Online functions are shallow. It does not feel important at all.
    One you make a mistake in a race, there is no fixing. You are going to play the same race again and again and again till eternity
    Cutscenes that you can't skip at the beginning of some races
    Cars do not feel that different
    Glitchy wildlife and pedestrians
    Pointless radio towers. This works in AC and FC but not in a racing game.
    Loading times can be long sometimes

    Conclusion:
    I don't know how Reflections manage to mess this up, since they have decades of experience making games, but most core aspects of the game: graphics, gameplay, story, handling, online functions are below average. You will have fun, if you like doing road trip in a video game, because driving around is still fun, and very relaxing, but if you want to complete missions, or simply wanted to race, this is definitely not your choice.    … Expand

    Rarely works correctly, generic storyline, freemium construction, and less than adequate car customization. On the plus side, the cars are cool, the graphics are alright, and it's a big world. I'm almost surprised that they haven't worked the bugs out in the 2 years that this has been out, but after all, this is ubisoft.

    Rating The Crew is problematic, because you can look at this game from two perspectives. In view of some simplifications and scripted moments it will not delight those in search of pure racing. Those who appreciate large open worlds however will be overjoyed. [01/2015, p.70]

    This ambitious attempt to create an MMO racing game pretty much failed thanks to horrible bugs and poor gameplay balance. And if you prefer playing alone, The Crew is not good enough for that, either.
