    Superb twin stick shooter. I cannot get enough of it. It is like Ruiner but on steroids with more guns,more customization and more enemies. The game looks stunning on large ultrawide monitor. Guns sounds, music are all spot on. What makes this game superb is absolutely superb combat.This game is awesome! I want The Ascent 2 or at least DLC please. 10 out 10 for me.     I heard about this game by chance from a friend that is making an isometric game and wanted me to check it out for comparison. What a nice surprise. This is a Godlike game. It's the Cyberpunk we deserve and we got finally.

    Of course there are problems with a small team of 12 people core programmers making it but they put all their efforts into the right places. It's short but sweet.     The story is as good as an early Mass Effect and if they build onto it we might get some epic world and epic saga in the years to come.    … Expand

    The game is amazing I don't understand the reviews. I played 10hours already and its such a nice break from 3rd person action adventures and fps games. The game just is insane for the fact that only 12 people made it. Brovo

    Amazing game, has some teething issues and a few bugs, which i am sure will be sorted, but game of the year so far for me, absolutely stunning and fun game

    One of the most beautiful games I've ever played on PC. I love cyberpunk and I love twin stick shooters so this right up my ally. After the abortion that was Cyberpunk 2077 this is a breathe of fresh air.

    The music is so fantastic, reminds me of "ghost in the shell".
    The atmosphere of the whole game is so rusty, muddy, underground and dark.
    True cyberpunk style vibes.
    The story so far is good, i'm really enjoying it.
    Whoever likes bladerunner movie, will like this game too. It is fun enough!
    It's also has true rpg elements and the graphics are good.

    Just play it!

    Best Sci-Fi Diablo ARPG game out there. People who give it anything less then 9/10 didnt probably finish tutorial arena. GFX, Music and "feeling" alone are 10/10, and gameplay wise its most fUN ive had in ARPG in years. But yeah, it doesnt have mindless grind multiplayer (which you play single anyway. like POE). GEM

    Play it! Dont mind the others. If you like what you see - you will be in The Ascent for hours and hours!
    The soundtrack alone is oozing atmosphere and fits the art direction very well.
    The story is okay but if you are here for the twin stick shooting, you will have a great time!

    Best game I have played this year. It has an issue here and there but they cannot take away from the fact that this game is Cyberpunk done right. The environments are amazing and the gameplay is frantic. violent and exhilarating.

    I played it and for me it is a very good game, the critics have been unfair. We have been waiting for a game like this for a long time and I honestly don't read the articles written by the reviewers anymore because they are too ignorant to understand games like this.

    Graphics are stunning, i'm getting 120-160 fps on a 9900K and 3090 at 1440P. Best ARPG graphics i ever saw.
    Gamplay is amazing, lot's of missions/story's and side missions to do while the gunplay is challenging and ever evolving. Fun factor is a 10/10, don't let the bad reviews and trol "0" score reviews say otherwise. I've encountered only a    Great ARPG, and i've played alot of em.

    I've encountered only a few bugs up until now in the form of some stuttering during transportation cutscenes (metro and taxi). Other than that it's been smooth

    If you are a fan of dead nation (because that's what you should compare it with, NOT diablo) this is a must buy.
    Slight rpg elements elevate the whole game even more. Con i could think of is the armor that is not randomized. I would like to find a identical piece of armor but with different or better stats. Now the only thing you can do is sell the duplicate armor for Ucreds. Maybe this is something they can add/change later.

    Oh and for a game THIS amazing, look at the price. Puts many triple A developers to shame.    … Expand

Red CD Project need to learn from indie studios how make great games .This game doesn't pretend to be AAA but it IS. Folks we need to support the indie game studios and show them respect for the hard work that they make. And for those suckers who give 0 score ... There are indeed few possibilities of character customization and there are some missions you can't do at the beginning although you may have the required level. That's only because you have to advance in the main missions in order to get access to some parts of the map. Sometimes you can even be bored by the quests, partly because you don't have any stuff management : no ammo count, no armor damage to repair; and partly because you, maybe, already met all the existing enemies.
    But boy, the universe is immersive ! Everything in level design, artistic direction, level of details and, last but far from least, the sound fx and musical direction is delightful. Sometimes I just love to have a walk in those Veles archology streets, on those bridges and those catwalks because it's simply magnificent. To get a picture of the level of detail, just imagine you can switch off/on the news screens or hologram ads in the city ! Combined with what you hear, from sound fx to especially music, the game achieves to project you in a Blade Runner movie.
    This is largely enough to deserve the best reception from the cyberpunk fans. I hope this will be the case, so the development team will have the possibility to fix the few bugs, maybe add some content, and, why not, think about a sequel.

    Die Grafik wahnsinnsing flüssig (OK, ich spiele mit 3090), die Kampagne und Kampfeffekte, das Craften, das Zusammenspiel der Fertigkeiten mit der Rüstung. Ach, einfach alles echt genial.

    Für mich ein überwältigender Überraschungs-Hit! Wow. Sorry, muss mich kurz fassen, muss weiter spielen... ;-)    … Expand

    Una experiencia totalmente increíble, una sorpresa a nivel técnica que nunca me lo habría esperado, entiendo a las personas que no les llama la atención ya que si este juego lo pulieran seria 1000 veces mejor pero realmente fue una genial experiencia.

    Me gusta como se ve el juego. Las ciudades de ven vivas hay muchos NPC misiones secundarias el sistema de juego es más para jugar con teclado y ratón aunque con el control también se puede jugar muy bien, los gráficos está muy impresionantes se merece un 8.5 pero como hay muchos Hates que solo ponen 0 porque si y nunca lo an tocado... le podré un 10

    Pros: - good visuals - fun combat - much choices whit customisation - story is good - I love how difficult the game can    I want to put a positive review because I think people go in whit the wrong expectations.     The Story was pretty good, got me really hooked and was satisfied by the ending.
    Seen a few people put it down since they don't like how much swearing there is? i didn't even really notice it tbh. Dialogue felt mostly natural to me, like that's how real people in these situations would probably talk to each other.
    There is a fair amount of "technobabble" but again, it's from characters who i felt would talk that way.

    This isn't a live service cashcow, so no there isn't an "endgame". I would very much like more content for this game though.

    Did i mention how gorgeous it looks?

    I've maybe had the game crash to ue4 crash reporter twice in that whole time, not the bug riddled mess that others seem to be reporting.
    Only other noticeable bugs ive had were the weapon skins i had unlocked disappeared for a time, leaving me with only default.
    Sometimes when you try to start shooting again while reloading, it can mess up and not actually reload the gun, quickly got used to this and isn't really an issue if you spec for fast reloads anyway.

    Co-op quest progress does not seem to carry over, e.g if you complete a quest in someone else's game, it doesn't seem to count as you completing it, which is a shame.

    Overall, this might be my game of the year.
    But then it's not had much competition, so that may not be the most affirming statement.    … Expand

    Jogo de drogas. Mundo superdetalhado, bons efeitos sonoros e eu absolutamente amo a atmosfera do punk cibernético. Este mundo é irreal. Deveria ter sido o mundo usado em Cyberpunk 2077. Normalmente não fique louco com atiradores de stick duplo, mas este é definitivamente bem feito.

    Un juego económico que ofrece una jugabilidad y una estética extremadamente hermosas, un mundo increíblemente inmersivo y mucha diversión. Cada detalle te dejará absolutamente atónito.

    En serio, es uno de los mejores juegos lanzados en mucho tiempo.

    Great fun. Have had a blast playing this over the last few days. Immersive environment to explore, satisfying gameplay loop shooting up the place and pumping sound track keep you going. Simple story but well acted dialogue keeps you engaged with it. It may tone perfect but irks the best game I’ve played in along while.

    Je veux mettre une critique positive parce que je pense que les gens ont de mauvaises attentes. Ce jeu est un jeu de tir à deux bâtons avec des éléments rpg. J'ai joué 9 heures pour l'instant. Coop et solo, les deux expériences étaient plutôt bonnes. J'ai rencontré 1 bug (aucun son nécessaire pour redémarrer le jeu).

    The artwork is so friggin' detailed, inspired and believable it's uncanny. I just love it to bits and I think the people responsible for the world design should win a few prizes. It's simply ART with a capital A in my book and they must have invested an incredible amount of passion, time and effort into it. The writing and characters really complement that art-style and I love the overall idea behind the setting.

    Game play grows on you quickly too, and though quite simple, it is highly compelling and more engaging than the average hack-and-slash action rpg. Another thing this game does well is the pacing of its rpg elements like loot and upgrades: valuable upgrades at the right intervals, appealing chests to hunt down, interesting abilities to unlock, cool guns, etc. Not much filler stuff here and you won't be overburdened either.

    The game doesn't hold your hand much, it can be quite challenging here and there and at times explains very little. Eventually things work out though, doors get unlocked, locked out chests become available and the high level enemies that one-shotted you earlier, will be destroyed.

    Only downsides so far: the map can be confusing at times and I encountered a bug where a door in the Morgue wouldn't open for me for some time but I think they fixed that with an upgrade.

    Performance is excellent I think. I'm playing this at 1440p on my old GTX970 and I have most of the settings (that are available to my set-up) maxed out, except for shadow quality as I saw a yt vid on that being the biggest resource hog.

    Conclusion: If you like action rpgs and if you like an inspired cyberpunk setting it's simply a must buy. For around 20 bucks on Steam this really is kind of a steal. I'm really looking forward to see what these people will be working on next.    … Expand

    Great world building.

    Very satisfying combat.

    Amazing, immersive graphics. This was ten times more fun than cyberpunk. And the voice acting was great too.

    Don't understand why this isn't getting better reviews.

They created such a rich and detailed world with interesting characters and plots, the weaker part of the formula is the gameplay but I've grown to really enjoy it. Kudos to the team for putting this together, the art team, the design team, the sound and music team.     On the negative the mini-map and navigation can be quite tricky, there are multiple levels and each level also has multiple level. Keeping track of where to go, and where side-missions are, can take some effort. But it works, sort of. Expect to do a lot of backtracking along familiar routes, at least the world is stunning to look at.

    It can also be quite annoying to constantly get attacked by low level thugs in some areas even though you're 10 levels above them, in the real world I imagine those thugs would know better. It just gets annoying after a while. Sometimes also the game path finding takes you through patches of higher-level enemies and you'll get slaughtered, then you'll have to find your own way around somehow.

    The difference between low and high-level is quite significant in this game and there can be difficulty spikes if you're under-level or specced or equipped your character badly. I can see how some less experienced gamers might paint themselves into a corner if they make a few bad choices or purchases. You'll need to think ahead and spend your credits wisely or you run the risk of being under-gunned, badly specced and out of cash. You can grind it back and fix most errors but even normal can turn our very challenging if you make a few bad choices and don't pay attention to weapon damage types etc. Experienced gamers should be fine mostly but some less experienced gamers might get frustrated.

    There could be some kind of repercussion for killing too many civilians, like kill five or more civilians inside of a minute and some kind of bounty hunter, or police or militia comes after you. Possibly the function could be toggled on or off, or you'd have to pay off the bounty hunter or something like that.

    So essentially it's not perfect, but what game is. It's still an absolutely stunning game and a must play if you like Action-RPG's and Cyperpunk. One of the highlights of the year.    … Expand

    It reminds me of Syndicate Wars (1996), which I loved as a teenager. The locations, enemies etc. are all really well made and the sound design and music is especially good.     A cheap game that offers extremely beautiful gameplay, aesthetics, an incredibly immersive world and lots of fun. Every detail will leave you absolutely stunned.

    It is seriously one of the best games released in a very long time.

    A cyberpunk game done right.

    Impressive game. So glad I picked this up.Game environment is stunning and the story drags you in. At first it was hard to use any fast travel as just wante to keep in the environment. However once you discover how big this game is you don’t miss a thing.

It's absolutely gorgeous, the gunplay is hella fun, the voice-acting, dialogue and character design are well done, the world-building is supreme. But mostly its just fun.     Le gameplay est vraiment bon et esthétiquement c'est propre.
    De loin le meilleur jeu du mois de juillet. J'en suis à presque 35 heures de jeu et je m'en lasse pas. Que ce soit solo ou coop. Et dire que ce jeu a été fait avec une équipe comptant seulement 12 personnes. Très    Qu'est ce que ce jeu est bon.     The proposals of The ascent and his world are impressive. The essence of what a cyberpunk is is very well represented in the title

    The game is very much enjoyed in cooperative, since its gameplay lends itself to it, but playing it alone is not a negligible experience at all.

    A real cyberpunk game with great graphics and gameplay mechanics. The only thing that it is quite bad it is the story, but this does not interfere the quality of this masterpiece.

    Great game, nice implementation of cyber punk world. The story could use work, menus, shooting mechanic's and cinematography could also use work. A bit buggy at launch but I'm sure they working on a patch. Keep it up guys

    Dope game. Super detailed world, nice sound effects, and I absolutely love the cyber punk atmosphere. This world is unreal. Should have been the world used in Cyberpunk 2077. Don't usually go crazy over twin stick shooters but this one is definitely well made.

    The Ascent has an excellent shooting experience and is great for playing with friends. However, apart from "shooting another wave of enemies", the game can bring very limited fun. The dull story and gameplay will easily bore you in this cyberpunk world.
