Surfingers is another game by Forever Entertainment and it is quite similar to their other game Timberman, where you had to chop trees.

As the title already says, this game is about surfing. But you don’t control the surfer himself. Your job is to change the placement of the waves (up and down) to get a good ride and score as many points as you can. You have to bypass different objects like ships, rocks and bones and try not to hit any of these.
But there are not only usual waves to surf on. You can surf in the ocean by day or by night, on snow, in the desert and even in the hell on waves of blood (or maybe lava?). Usually you start surfing in the ocean by day and every once in a while you have to pass a cave with deadly obstacles leading you into a new level and world.
The game offers 26 characters to unlock by getting achievements or by buying them for stars (you get them just by playing the game). Some of them look quite similar to other popular characters. For example there is a super hero looking like Captain America, Timberman, riding a log and there is even Gaben, surfing on a big 100 Dollar bill! And there are some special characters who don’t have to start at the Ocean level. Just take the guy with the snowboard and you begin in the snowy hills, take Aladdin and you start in the desert, the zombie to surf by night or take the reaper, whose starting location is the hell. There are also a number of robots, with nothing special besides showing the number of stars upside down. So if you get bored of water, keep that in mind!
The graphics are very colorful, look very nice and you feel like in a surfing movie. The surf rock music also helps you to get this feeling but as the game offers only one soundtrack this is the only thing you get annoyed of after playing the game some hours without resting.
The gameplay is very easy to understand but hard to master. You have to press 2 buttons, one for bringing the waves up, the other one to bring them down. So you can play with the arrow keys, or pressing W and S or with the help of a gamepad. I even tried to mix it, so I tried to press S with the left hand and Arrow Up with the right but you have to get used to this. And then I called a friend, connected 2 gamepads and the Single Player Mode became a “One-button-Multiplayer”. My job was to press “Down”, his job was to press “Up”, and it was great fun! You know, this brings teamplay to this game and as you always know who messed up it’s great fun to see the reaction and making fun of each other. This way we managed to get the highest score.
Surfingers also offers local and online multiplayer. You play splitscreen and the one getting farther than the others wins. I played a bit with my friend locally (as I couldn’t find anyone online) and we found our invented “Co-op Mode” more fun.
Let’s sum up.
Positive:
+ simple gameplay (2 buttons)
+ many different colorful characters
+ different landscapes
+ cool soundtrack and graphics style
+ very addictive
+ multiplayer
+ controller support
+ achievements and trading cards
+ cheap
Negative:
- couldn’t find anyone in Online Multiplayer
- soundtrack gets annoying after playing some hours
- after a long ride I was dizzy
So all in all I think this is a great game for killing time and definitely fun to play with your friends and have a laugh. And it’s definitely worth the money.
