What an amazing discovery! I got this on sale but put off playing it because of the somewhat cutesy art style and "little big" aesthetic which I'm not crazy about. I don't think that presentation does this game any favors, because this is actually a deviously clever first person puzzle platformer. The puzzles are heavily physics based, and rely on both your knowledge of how the world works, and on the tool upgrades you discover as you explore. This game most reminded me of "The Talos Principle", but with metroidvania upgrades and map exploration. Nearly every place you can see, you'll eventually be able to get to. Sometimes you think you've reached an area that the developer never could have intended for you to reach, only to discover a treasure chest waiting for you around the next corner. The number of upgrades and secrets is staggering, but not necessary to continue. You can get as much or as little as you want out of this game.
The negatives are the story, which is trite and cliche, and the combat. The combat feels like an afterthought and really shouldn't be in there at all. Fortunately the developer seems to have realized this. The first DLC is described as having tons of puzzles, exploration, and surprises... and way less combat.
I absolutely loved this game and it's a shame that it seems to be getting overlooked. It's less than $20 even when it's not on sale, go get it!

Just an incredibly beautiful and fun game. It's game-play, levels, puzzles and game-feel is leaps and bounds beyond even some triple A productions. It has become my new standard to which I will hold indie titles and all other games for that matter.
Do yourself a favor and at least try the free demo; you'll get hooked and it will be the beginning some of the most fun 20 hour experiences

Every treasure, great or small had some element of a puzzle to it. There is only one puzzle game on the level of quality that I could compare this to and that would be Portal, but this... this is not Portal. This is something new, and colorful... and ALIVE. I love the light-hearted yet still mature fun that I can reap from this game. The challenges are balanced, the glitches are very few, and the journey is worth every cent (and more!)

Wonderful game made by just 1 developer. The game's combat is easy enough to not interfere with the puzzles and once you play for a couple of minutes you'll be hooked to play more and finish the story. The actual story is not much to write home about but the challenging puzzles and amazing art-style 100% make up for that.

20$ for this game is a steal. 9/10

This is a wonderful game that is suitable for just about every type of gamer. I tried the demo a few months ago and didn't really give it a chance, but I decided to try it again now that's it's been officially released, and this is one of those games that gives me hope for the future of computer gaming.

In Supraland, you basically run around in a colorful, minimalist world, trying to solve puzzles. You gain access to new areas as you purchase powers and find upgrades. You'll gain a double, then a triple jump that allows you to access previously unexplored areas higher up. Every nook and cranny offers surprises, and exploration of the environment definitely pays off. The combat is pretty basic and really sort of frustrating early on, but your sword gets upgrades helping to fend off enemies more easily, and eventually you find a gun, which also benefits from upgrades, making it more and more powerful. Combat definitely becomes more fun as you go.

Starting off, the introductory area you explore is small, sufficient to get you used to the game mechanics, but around the 2 hour mark it REALLY starts to open up and eventually gets very expansive. There's lots of Portal, some first person shooter, among other influences. I'm at around the 10 hour mark, and the puzzles have become very challenging, not impossible, giving great satisfaction when a solution is discovered. All the while the game will dangle the mystery of unexplored areas that you can see, but can't get to yet. There's lots of jumping around and battling enemies, but the focus on the game is on the puzzles. Movement from area to area is helped with portals for fast travel that you discover as you go. Revisiting earlier areas with new powers, allows you to find more upgrades and secrets. I'm not particularly good at jumping/platform type games, but I never found this title overly difficult or frustrating.

Supraland oozes creativity and is one of the best indie games I've every played. It's available on Steam, but you can also buy it directly from the developer website. Also, Steam has a demo, and that same demo is also available to download from the game's website. This one is special, folks. Highly recommended.

The one glaring flaw with the game is that it's so hard to stay still when landing on a slope. 1) When jumping, it often feels like the entire game is on a Mario ice level where I keep slipping around. 2) Sometimes when I stand on a flat surface or box, I'll still slide around all over the place, or the box will bounce around. It makes the platforming aspect of the game a lot less enjoyable. Of course, all that frustration goes away once you get the Happiness upgrade :D Expand

Supraland is already a spectacular game; a quake-style FPS/metroidvania/sandbox puzzle game with a world that is as creative as it is fun to explore.

But the fact that it was made mostly by one dude elevates it to the masterpiece zone

I love Supraland but I hate it just as much as I love it.. you play as a red stick figure that sets out to confront the blue kin cause the blue squad is out here messing with red teams water… and instantly I fellin love with this game.. this in an open wolrd set inside of a sandbox puzzle platformer game.. for the first couple of hours I was so immersed in this world, collecting couns for upgrds, searching for all of its secret chests.. again for upgrades.. and I don’t just mean cash.. these chests have permanent upgrades making them actually worth hunting down and making it super addictive to explor. I love this.. howver after the first world.. Supraland turns into an action version or portal.. on top of that, this is a first person metroidvania in a way…and you might think that sounds amazing.. but what makes portal so manageable for someone like me thts super imapatients when they play video games like this, is that portal is linear, not in an open world… and also theres a super intriguing nd hilarious story to go along with it pulling you through.. and while supraland definitely has a little charm here.. there definitely isn’t drag players to end end level of charm… so sadly a gamethat started out as a great, puzzle platformer with some of the best adventure aspects ive ever played.. turns into a drug out slog of switch puzzle after puzzle to solve… and this is when supraland started to lose me.. But I am very aware this is a personal gripe against this game.. this is a great puzzle game, if you go into spraland being fine that it ultimately is an open world puzzle game with more emphasis on the puzzle as it goes on, you will be pleased with all of the bonus aspects it throws at you… as again its so addictive to upgrade your character as you make it through this 11 hour long journey…
I for one am definitely not one for puzzles, I can only deal with them if theyre really good, clever, or unique… I don’t seek out puzzle games just for the sake of it..
So while I can appreciate that Supraland is a hidden gem puzzle game definitely owrth your attention if you are a puzzle fan… it was just something that struggled to keep my intrigue or attention…
    I give Supraland
    a 7.5/10

Supraland is a real gem: funny and cute, enchanting and full of ideas... and when you consider it was made by just one man, it's really astonishing!

Usually I'm not a fan of platformers nor puzzle games (I hate the first, and I'm lousy with the second), yet here I managed most platforming and I was able to guess around half puzzles by myself. This means that, without a good walkthrough,

This means that, without a good walkthrough, I would have been utterly stumped (as I usually am with puzzle games).
Thanks to Internet help, though, I was able to finish the game and enjoying myself.

    Why just 7, then?
Mostly because the game drags on for too long (for me, at least), and at around half it became a slog: I wanted to finish it as soon as possible.
    - Perhaps because of all the puzzles when I couldn't figure out the solution, and I had to switch to the walkthrough over and over.
    - Perhaps for all the monsters that popped out frequently and had to be dealt with, breaking the pace.
IMHO there's too much to do: puzzles to solve, enemies to kill (but they respawn), areas to explore, secrets to find, upgrades to get... over and over again. It's like with some open world games, so filled with activities they feel like a job in the end.

    But that's just me :-)
Maybe you will have the best of time - especially if you're good with puzzles.

This game beautifully blends multiple genres and tones and manages to keep surprising me as a player, I loved the puzzles, the exploration, the upgrades but most importantly I loved the sense of humour the developer has and the lighthearted story compliements that.

The whole tone of the game is perfectly put together from the sound effects, to the environments, narrative and characters.
