Nice space shooter, looks simple at first but don't judge it too quickly. Give the game a bit of time and you will find hidden depth. Every mode is quite different and offers new takes on classic shooter gameplay. Playing in 2p cooperative is a lot of fun one of my favorite couch 2 player game of 2020 so far. Definitely worth the asking price, I got 2 copies on Switch and PS4. PS4 is good for the trophies but the Switch version is good for the handheld portable element.

In survival mode the player must blast away the enemies while not running out of ammo and fuel and then defeat the boss. In protect the mothership mode the player must blast away enemies while stopping a massive mother ship from taking damage. In competitive mode 2 players battle it out. The art style is nice to look at and different from the usual pixel-art styles.

Xbox and PS4 controllers work perfectly with the game. Playing in local co-op brings back those retro feelings. As you progress through the modes you complete challenges to collect coins and collect coins from destroyed enemies. These coins can be spent on new ships with very different flying styles, fire rates and other specifications. Some have rotating cannons that can be controlled by the right stick or the mouse, once unlocked these games really open the game up and score chasing becomes easier.

The game is amazing fun especially for the price. Highly recommended.

Part of my under $1 space shooter games on Steam review series. The new turbo version is out now as well for only $4.99, the PC version does not have a Metacritic page so I'll say here that with the increased price and the new content it would also get a 9/10, well worth the price.

Blast your way through challenges, unlock ships, climb the leader boards. Really addictive retro style space shooter. Lots of fun.
