Jul 23, 2024Stray Gods: Orpheus is an easy recommendation for fans of the base game despite its short runtime. I enjoyed the many songs and visuals in the DLC a lot more than I expected, but it should’ve either been cheaper or offered a bit more story. If you’re ok with an hour or so long experience, Stray Gods: Orpheus is worth grabbing, and it also reminded me of how good the game runs and looks on Steam Deck OLED.

Jul 8, 2024Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical is a creative, choice-heavy game focusing on interactive music at the root of a murder mystery involving ancient myths in the modern day. Stray Gods: Orpheus is a genuinely compelling DLC addition to that mythos centered around one person’s quest for self-discovery long after they thought their story was over. Ultimately, I love the hopeful possibility inherent in the plot as this DLC proves to be a welcome return to an enjoyable game.

Jul 1, 2024The original did feel like it offered a bit more player agency via things like a map interface and the initial choice of a personality trait for Grace, and the romantic conversation options don't lead to anything nearly as fleshed out. However, Orpheus is about one-third the length and price of the original, making it a more-than-worthwhile pursuit for fans of the first installment, particularly considering the replay value. Orpheus is very much a different sort of story than Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical, but it continues the stellar writing and musicality in a brilliant new way.
