I have to say that Steel Division did not have the production value of previous games such as Company of Heros, or RUSE. BUT I must say this game is a creative interpretation of any other wise over saturated World War 2 RTS genre. I really do like this games take as it requires people to think about there troops sense they have a limited amount

Steel Division has a rocky start, its obvious from the beginning that it does not have the production value of Company of Heroes, or even of Eugen's other games like Wargame. What it does have is the strategic depth associated with Eugens titles but with the accessibility of a much simpler game. Spend an hour into the tutorial (too long if you ask me, and the VO is AWFUL) and you have a very basic grasp on infantry tactics. However, you are completely unprepared for the arty spam and complicated armor warfare of the game. No where in the tutorial does it tell you that each time your tank misses its chance of hitting goes up, a key fact especially when shermans with no experience can't hit the broadside of a barn. All in all a fun game and definitely worth the 40 bucks i dropped on it.

    Pros:
-Excellent strategic depth and easy accessibility
    -Good variety of units
-Tanks are fun as hell to command at a battalion level
    -Not a twitch rts

    Cons:
    -Production value is meh
-Unit movement is often painfully slow
    -Arty spam
-Tutorial does not prepare you for even the basic concepts of armored warfare (essential if you wish to jump into multiplayer )
    -The VO is absolutely horrific

Best rts of 2017 so far

positive + huge amount of units + real use of brains to win + pretty graphics + wo 2 setting works well + overall good campaign + 10v10's are insanely fun negative - hard start in my opinion - slow moving can be boring for people ( however you will get use to it ) conclusion: Besides a rough start the game is perfect for me and one of the best wo 2 rts

The 10vs10 games were an instant sell arguement for me. I bought the game in beta and the development team really is working on balancing the game out. There are some stronger/weaker units, but their isn't a bias to allies or axis forces.

In a decade where quality rts are rare, this game really stands out. Be it the glorieus fields of normandy, the fluid frontline mechanic... I

I really dont like 1v1's or 2v2's, I dont like the competiveness in them. I rather prefer 10vs10, Some will call me noob, but I like to play with decs build around arty, air, or infantry. It lets you play the way u like it. The big collective games also take away a bit off indivudual skill, so their is less pressure to perform well.

10vs10 games really feel big and can get fun, but messy at times. 1 big chaos.

Very good RTS with historical accuracy and authentic feei. Feels quite realistic, though not as deep and complex as the legendary Close Combat series. Nice graphics and fun multiplayer. Definitely recommended!

Single player reminds me of old Close Combat games in a good way! Eugen systems have always given free updates with new units so I am sure skirmish games will get even better. Next is eastern front?!

Overall, it is a good game with only minor difficulties, like movement speed, balance issues, and also arty that destroys stuff in one shot. Its not War game, Its better, the movement speed is realllllly bad, its the only thing keepin' this from a 10/10, but still, BUY IT.

Too poor for game, which based on the trilogy of great realistic wargames, based on the Cold War. The best WW2 RTS since COH, and well worth the price. Its deep, graphically beautiful, and plays like a chess game. Building your own divisions is fun, within the set parameters. People who complain about balance issues just don't realize that some divisions just aren't as good as others- you can pick between about ten divisions on either Axis or Allied side and the balance is actuallyThe best WW2 RTS since COH, and well worth the price. Excellent Wargame style strategy game which requires planning and decision making. includes nice and challenging singleplayer and multiplayer. I can recommend this for all who are interested in WW2.

Close Combat and Wargame veterans cannot avoid this awsome tactical RTS. It's a deep strategy with everything what i want to see on virtual battlefield.

False advertisement on realist data, units and gameplay ,there aren't any respect on real Normandy other than very few instance such as beute firefly which is a historical fact. jumbo has better armor than King tiger and about 3 time the armor piecing damage increment from maximum firing range.

Aside from their marketing, the game itself is a mess, demanding load out yet pathetic graphic

Aside from their marketing, the game itself is a mess, demanding load out yet pathetic graphic output not even in 2015 can be tolerable. Network issue every 10 games in US is quite common, music are very repetitive and the game can barely go beyond 50 hours for the price aside for very short campaign with total of 12 extreme similar objective.

Beside false advertisement, this game also has to do with paradox who notorious in dlc ,expensive dlc for very minor game patching, pity that they abandon their generous dlc policy before this BS.the devs put shame on wargame series and might be the final nail on the coffin after AOA debacle.

Some people think it could be wargame:ww2 but this is not wargame nor ww2, only some ww2 theme cosplayers fighting on Normandy.

I won't suggest this to my worst enemy, that will be PUBG or something.

The campaign does a very poor job of introducing n00bs to the game in a stepwise fashion, such that they aren't completely overwhelmed, discouraged, and generally frustrated to the point of quitting. Like I said, I'm trying hard to enjoy it, but a long way from it so far.

EDIT: It has taken me months to get to the point where I could beat a medium AI with any consistency. That said, I find this game singularly rewarding and a huge pleasure to both play and watch it being played by the experts. I highly recommend this game!

THe game is just the best RTS in years, good balance, a lot of interesting mechanics. THe UI is a bit old school and the Playerbase isnt huge but its enough and the gameplay in MP is just top, esp. since the last patches and DLCs.

I really enjoy this game. The only thing I am missing is to run a larger campaign in Coop. Also a longer campaign with some strategic options would be nice. Quite nice mix between a feeling of realism and balance. I also enjoy how much better the artillery work compared to the Wargame series. A few more maps with different height in terrain would also be nice. I would also have like someI really enjoy this game. The only thing I am missing is to run a larger campaign in Coop. While the gameplay can feel rushed sometimes, Steel Division nevertheless is a great game that authentically recreates the World War II conflict and brings some new ideas to the RTS genre.

Despite its visual similarities with Wargame series, Steel Division Normandy 44 is nothing like it gameplay-wise. “If a bunch of tanks couldn’t take care of a problem, just send more next time” way of thinking doesn’t work here: two infantry platoons, a reconnaissance unit and a properly placed AT gun can lay waste to a whole battalion. And if you throw some machineguns and a mortar into that mix, enemy’d be hard-pressed to crack this nut without some serious artillery support. [Issue#222, p.52]
