    I can't believe a game this long in development emerged AHEAD of games at the time. I wish I could have given this game an 11, I would have been fine with another expansion to the original Starcraft. But no, Blizzard goes above and beyond and gives me cinematics of godlike proportions, choices, great graphics, STELLAR characters (I can't remember the last time I loved the characters inI can't believe a game this long in development emerged AHEAD of games at the time. EDIT: Also, the final hammer on the head for me that some of you may find laughable, is that they made this for MAC and PC.     It improves on every aspect of the original. Beautiful graphics, fantastically told story... What really blew my mind? How every single cutscene is so beautiful. My favourite scene was hands down the recreation of Sarah Kerrigan's death. It was flawless. There's just nothing quite like StarCraft.

The graphics put on ultra are nothing short of AMAZING. Sure these graphics suck....on a pentium 3....This is my most played video game by far, and I have alot.     Quite simply, the greatest game I've ever played. Multiplayer is amazing fun, the races are overall well balanced, the units do need a tiny bit of work but they're still sexy, and the gameplay itself is a ton of fun. I don't have much more to say beyond that, it's the epitome of gaming, it's the finest RTS, it's the pinnacle of strategy

    Truly one of the best games ever made. It may take work to get the hang of it but starcraft 2 is by far the most amazing experiences a game can produce. Blizzard really took the time to make sure that the game was perfect. This games is a must buy.

    This game took a really long time to come out and when it did I really couldn't spot much difference with Starcraft one in terms of gameplay :). Now is that a good or bad thing? I guess we can only answer this ourselves. I've answered with my score.

    This is, and without a doubt, the greatest RTS game ever made.

    Those who try very hard to be cool and buck the mainstream would beg to differ, but morons like that beg to differ about everything.

    This game is popular for a reason, people. There simply isn't a better RTS game available right now.

    Outside of SC:BW, it's the best RTS out there. I've put hundreds of hours into this game and enjoyed almost every minute of it. Right now zerg is super imba, (I play random), and the game seems to suffer from waves of imba ness.

    This is the best game known to man! i play this game as much as possible and once i started playing SC2 i just couldn't play any other game. I highly recommend this beautiful game but SC2 heart of the swarm is coming out soon this fall you might wanna wait for it, WARNING THIS GAME IS HIGHLY ADDICTIVE! IT IS THE BEST GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!

    Simply the smoothest, most balanced RTS game since the first Starcraft. Those that complain about graphics or story, no serious SC player has ever cared about those things. Good players play with lowest graphic settings just to reduce framelag.

    A job well done Blizzard, this is everything a fan of Starcraft can dream of, the graphics, the animations, the effects... everything is just amazing, the story is simply great very addictive, i don't see a point of writing a long thought out review about it's pluses and minuses... cause i simply like everything about this game.

Just look at this, starcraft 2 has 8.1 points user reviews points while Diablo 3 only has 4.1 now. 8.1 is almost double of 4.1 while 10 is the upper limit. Everything in Starcraft 2 is well designed and you can just feel it after playing it. I am sure the team who makes starcraft 2 is not the same team as Diablo 3, because anyone can just feel Diablo 3 is not even close to complete, Diablo 3 is just a beta of a demo, the design team doesn't even try to make it longer and create a game system which can last for long. People can play Starcraft 2 for 10 years and still find it is even more fun with crazy many patches. I download and install starcraft 2 patches with at least 30 minutes, that is a lot of patches just like Windows 7 itself. I played Diablo 3 for like 30 minutes then already feel it is so boring. It is just stupid to ask for Diablo 3 players to just play the exact same game again after finish the game once. Graphic of Starcraft 2 is actually much better than Diablo 3 even starcraft 2 is made 2 years ago. Anyway Diablo 3 is a pixxx of shxx while starcraft 2 is the best of its kind. Don't buy the crazy expensive but horrible quality Diablo 3 just because of its marketing effect, make the right choice.… Expand

    Even though the campaign story was a bit disappointing this is still one of my favorite games of all time. The campaign though having a bad story is still quite fun the first couple of playthroughs. The multiplayer is fantastic and even though the constant cheesing can be annoying, the macro games are so much fun and very different from game to game. The balance of the 3 races is exceptional, refined over numerous patches. As with all blizzard games, the attention to detail is exceptional and the visuals are breathtaking. It is unmatched in the RTS genre and you cant put any other RTS infront of it. Ive played tons and tons of other RTSI am extremely stunned to read some of the user reviews on this site. I cannot begin to describe to you the amount of strategy and techniques it takes to beat your opponent 1v1.     Great Game and Huge replay value, one of the few Game's i played through not just once but 3 times just to get all those shiny Achievements ;)

    Also has one of the best Multiplayer Mode's and Communities in the gaming industry. The Multiplayer matches are highly entertaining, not only to play for yourself but also to watch. Great game overall and lifes up to the first starcraft

After its release and playing for an extraordinary amount of time, I can say that SC2 is an amazing game. It is fair to also assess that it is the same level of quality as the original. Let it be known that there are people who devote their lives to this game, expect to get schooled in multi-player. If you do play for a while though, practice makes perfect, you will improve significantly over time. SC2 is remarkably flexible and balanced and every battle is a fight to the end. There are so many different strategies at your disposal, and even if you don't want to fight others you can team up against the computer or join one of the HUNDREDS of AWESOME UMS games that are provided. UMS for those who don't know means USE MAP SETTINGS, and is pretty much where the players create a map for others to play. I absolutely love defense UMS games such as turret defense, they are so simple yet totally satisfying. You will need a good PC to run SC2 on FULL settings, but if you qualify the reward is terrific. Blizzard truly did an excellent job making this game a successful predecessor to one of the best games ever made, too bad that didn't happen with Diablo 3 :)… Expand

    After a long wait starcraft 2 has finally arrived. The campaign is very satisfying with the unlock of new units making multiple playt hroughs very fun. I was very satisfied with the ending of this game. The multiplayer is also very fun

The rest of the game looks extremely polished, fun, and most importantly keeping the basic Starcraft formula that made it so successful. I'm glad Blizzard went with the good ol' formula that works and improved it, not hired a new team and went on it's own shenanigans with a "new modern version" of the game, like they did to Diablo 3 and destroyed the franchise. So yes, Starcraft 2 is and will be the greatest Competitive RTS just like Starcraft 1 was. And without the competitive side, it's still a great RTS, second only to Company of Heroes maybe. The no LAN, new battle net, controlled modding, etc, should not be a reason to deduct points from this masterpiece, because...well...times change, and if you are still living in your basement hoping the 90s era of PC gaming continue to exist, then you are in for a surprise.… Expand

    In one word: Amazing! The anticipation for Heart of the Swarm is killing me. I love the game, watch all the professional matches, and this from a guy that never even played Starcraft 1! Every gamer needs this in his staple of classics.

The tree races of the game are very interested and motivated too become a pro gamer. The "Arcade" mode is excited to play too other players. I mean that the story mode is interested too.

This game is not about leveling up your "character"/"force" so it should not be rated poorly because of this. You will find yourself fine tuning your "build" in conjunction with your matchups constantly. This is the beauty of Starcraft 1 and Starcraft 2 - Blizzard has done a great job with this game. Some of you wanted more races - and for each race to have a complete campaign. You feel everything should come in one installment. Whats great about starcraft 2 is it does not give into this idea - It preserves its quality over quantity guarentee. And I for one look forward to buying each expansion (most likely 2 more) with campaigns for zerg and protoss on the horizon; each packed with quality. Honestly, rate a game accurately.     I think Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty is the best RTS at the moment. It's a Classic Blizzard game with great campaign and definitely deserves 10/10.

    Graphics are cock on, the audio is very good and the point and click gameplay using just a mouse for me is perfect. Tons of additional content in the form of levels and loads of ways to affect the gameplay.

    Still play this today.

The game is fun but nothing special, while the online multiplayer is a fascinating world where one can lose himself in the hardcore strategies as one tries to rank up from bronze to grandmaster league.     I played this game before playing SC 1 or Brood Wars, but I immediately enjoyed it and became hooked on the game and the lore. The campaign is admittedly easier than Brood Wars, but the difficulty levels can accommodate anyone; from a weak player like myself to seasoned gamers. I'll admit, the online gaming can be slightly daunting, but I have found that the StarCraft II community is one of the most polite and helpful communities in gaming. In a personal account, I was getting wrecked by an online opponent, and he stopped his onslaught and started ordering me on builds so that I stood a chance. Ultimately, it is an excellent game. No, it is not the greatest game to ever be played, and no, it is not a difficult challenge, but I cannot say I've played an RTS that I enjoy more than StarCraft II.… Expand

Not only do you have the classic RTS elements in every map, but you have to strategize about how to upgrade your forces and what missions and research to focus on. Each mission is uniquely challenging and never feels repetitive because of the interesting new game elements it introduces. There is a real sense of progress through the accumulation of upgrades and units from previous missions. Aside from gameplay, the story is also engrossing and interesting. It kept me interested throughout the campaign and almost always seem to leave a cliffhanger after each cutscene.

    Multiplayer is, of course, genre-defining. It isn't the world's number one e-sport for no reason. The simplicity of the gameplay and yet endless variety of approaches make it a great experience for any strategy gamer. The only difficulty is that multiplayer is extremely intimidating for new players to get into. Even the beginner league is full of very strong players, so the learning curve is very steep.     The on line matchmaking works well - much less than a minute waits. In all honesty sometimes you take a few panning's in a row and other times you'll find it well controlled and a deserved win. The matchmaking gives you a 50/50 win rate over time which helps you to improve your game. When you're taking a real beating it just takes a win to get you back in love with the title.

    If you enjoy single players and you enjoyed the original you'll enjoy this. It's a reasonably interesting story with some good twists. I don't tend to play the campaigns but I completed and replayed this one. The campaign is limited to the Terran race, but the expansion 'Heart of the Swarm' introduces a Zerg campaign along with new units and extra features.

    Yes, there are some features missing. LAN would be nice. Share replays would be nice. But the competitive online experience is far beyond anything achieved by any other game. No matter how many tens of thousands of games you play, there will always be room for improvement, for evolution, for trying new things and finding new ways to have fun.

    Initially I had second thoughts about this game, and I really hated it.
    However, the day I bought the game, I was pretty much unable to put it down.
    The gameplay is simply awesome and it has a great multiplayer base to back it up.
    10/10 at least.

Even thou the story does`nt "top" the original SC1 story, its a good continue, and the game itself has renewed the way the campaign is build up. You can develop in different directions, between missions, and have to live with the choices you make.     10/10. This game was great. There is a great multiplayer ranking system. Each game lasts about 10-25 minutes on average. I would often play 2 games after work and then I was able to put it down. Many games got my heart racing. The single player campaign is excellent.

    - Music. Except for the Terran music I consider the soundtrack of part 1 to be the superior one. The great terran music in Sc2 is en par with the terran music in Sc1. They even captured the whole 'space cowboy' theme a little better this time around.
    - Story: The campaign didn't touch me or anything. The whole atmosphere wasn't as unforgiving, cold and gruesome as in Sc1. In Starcraft 1 the cold depth of space was present. The terrans were rugged, slightly degenerate nihilist basterds in Sc1 and it suited them. They were space dark, weird space humans. In the multiplayer of Sc2 everything feels alright about the terrans but in the campaign they're all too shiny and perfect at times. The dark awesome feel of part one is absent during Sc2's campaign. Still, the missions were fun and diverse (see above)
    - Protoss: when have the protoss become singing moral elves? Really they once were awesome radical superbeings who felt superior to everyone because they were. They had awesome big ships and erased entire planets with their radical advanced technolgy if it served their interest. Besides they had other faces and looked way more awesome. Now they just look... I don't know. Their faces are to edged, the eyes to little. I preferred the design in Sc1. It was simpler but it looked way more natural. The way an intelligent alien race should look. Besides, in Sc1 Protoss didn't wear shiny cute crystals everywhere. What happened to the Protoss? They were cool once...

    Conclusion:
    This is a multiplayer game so the minus of the story is a relatively unimportant one. The protoss problem is a question of personal preference of course. Don't like them? Play another faction. Overall they fit in with the other 2 (way more badass) factions well enough. So this minus is rendered rather meaningless, too. The music, while not as good as in part one at some points (again the Protoss music is my least favorite...) overall is still a solid piece of work and the terran theme is awesome. Zerg is cool, too, sounding very organic and aggressive which suits this race perfectly.    … Expand

    The definition of what a RTS game should be. As simple as that. I play it at minimum graphics: makes it run exceptionally fluid and it even looks better. No crappy 3D orientation in here. It's almost as you were playing a good old 2D Engine again: As it should be.

    Blizzard has done it again. After playing and being hooked on the original playing starcraft 2 was great. Playing the campaign was fun. It brought back many old units and introduced some new ones to go along with the mix. The greatness of the original story continues here with Jim Raynors story.     The best campaign i had ever played in a strategy game. I never seen such an interactive single player, gives you the feeling that you are playing Mass Effect or something lol.
    The story isnt ground breaking but its definitely good enough for what it is, and all of the cool stuff, the unique missions and everything else makes up for it big time.

    It surpasses Starcraft which is not easy to do. The single player is very interactive and top notch with brilliant humor added in. The multiplayer is incredible and intellectual. It is a game you can get years of fun play out of and one of the best strategy games all time with Rome total war.

    A few inevitable minor bugs, like absolutely every online game ever, but nothing gamebreaking.

    The campaign is great and the story is nice although the tone of it was made to appeal to younger audiences as well, but I am ok with it.

This is by far the best RTS game that I have played (I played a lot of RTS games, like Age one, two and three (the original and remasterd versions) and all c&c games). The A.I is by far one of the best, the online mode is fantastic (don't play on KoreanI've 3850 hours in this and the other three DLS's (Heart of the Swarm, Legacy of the void and The Nova Campaign) and on the online mode. This is by far the best RTS game that I have played (I played a lot of RTS games, like Age one, two and three (the original and remasterd versions) and all c&c games). The A.I is by far one of the best, the online mode is fantastic (don't play on Korean servers, you gonna lose). The performance is also good I get over 300 FPS on ultra settings (Gtx 970, without V-Sync). The voice actors have down great work. I never had bugs. The first part/DLC is the three (Wings of Liberty), for me this is the best campaign of all, but the others are also worth it. But it if you like RTS games and like the future setting… Expand

    They don't make games like this anymore. Now that Blizzard has been merged with Activision, there's no hope that Blizzard will come up with any game with an ounce of finesse and decent story.

    This is a bog-standard RTS. But given that it's Blizzard there was never any doubt that it was going to be an AWESOME bog-standard RTS. Beautiful design, great graphics, engaging storyline. Highly recommended.

    10 for great game play, though not many changes from sc1 cuz they didn't need to, great graphics, soundtrack and voice acting. -1 for trying to expand the storyline too much outside what was already established in sc1. The campaign didn't feel as epic as sc1, company of heroes, or even old classics like age of mythology.

Graphics cards can studder because of the mission breifing though bevause the card is rendering the on-ship enviroment and the onscreen enviroment seperately which is kinda impressive in its own right. The online portion for single player has advantages but has a very annoying disadvantage. I can play the game online at home and when I am out and about on my laptop and my progress will remain the same how ever if the connection drops you will loose your progress and might as well quite the misson because it wont remember your progress even on the machine you played on once you closed the game. I did not like having to repeat missions needlessly. the game should try to reconnect when the connection comes back after a few seconds.… Expand

And though it does look great on my system (e6300 and a radeon 4870) it will run on damn near anything that was built in the last half-decade when settings are tuned correctly. And all that without mentioning the multiplayer! Battle.net 2.0 is an amazing thing. No more lobbies to sit in, no more spam with comments from your friends mixed in. On the fly matchmaking that is quick and actually works! True the units do need some balancing, but Blizz spent 10 years perfecting the original, and it shows - the balance isn't terrible, it just needs some tweaking.     I'd feel bad if I gave lower rating to game which does so much right. Practically Starcraft 2 is "only" a graphics update. It still feels just like Starcraft since none of the things which made it so great really haven't been changed at all. But if it is almost perfect so why to change it? I kind of felt that campaign was too long. It was fun yes but it was few missions too long. I guess they're trying to make up for not including Zerg and Protoss campaigns. Original Starcraft had maybe 30 missions split between the factions. So Terrains had maybe 10 missions in original game. In Starcraft 2 Terrains have that about 30 missions just for them. Its full game and it's very good game. However I didn't give perfect score since it's practically stuff we have already seen and it isn't exactly perfect by any means but it is the best realtime strategy game in years.… Expand

Only thing I could ever complain about is the occasional sporadic matching, the slightly cartoonist look of things and the requirements to obtain any kind of unit decals is a little obsessive- but all are just minor complaints in an other wise truly epic game.… Expand

    OK lets get this straight this IS a full game. you can play 3 fractions and you do infact play 2 fractions in the campaign. There are 26 missions all together each mission about 20 mins in lenght ranging to a 1 hour mission i clocked up and that was me "blitzing it" there are 9 challenge remminisant of the mini games in rise of nation if not a full blown copy of it and then there's OK lets get this straight this IS a full game. you can play 3 fractions and you do infact play 2 fractions in the campaign. The gameplay is amazingly balance for a newly release product clocking maybe a little to easy to use since the ai doesn't twat you every time you use it like in starcraft 1. the audio is amazing you'll never hear a better sounding real time strategy (right up with napoleon TW) from the retro music down to the the people say "slam'n'". Bg question is it worth the inflated price only just. and depending if your the person who expects the next ps3 blockbuster to be the best looking game available. As for the people giving it 1 2's ect just read there comments there all about only 1/3 of a game. as i said 26 missions with amazing story telling is not 1/3 of a game these days. and they will all say so i'm not getting it. well there missiong out and well they havn't played the game all way through so how can they review it. sorry about grammer, puntuation, spellings ect i'm dyslexic and lazy. very nasty combo when writing long stuff.… Expand

    This game was worth the wait, it is extremely polished with smooth gameplay. It manages to capture the glorious essence of it's predecessor while adding new units, abilities and features creating a nostalgic, awesome effect. The graphics are beautiful and clean, with amazing cinematics.     Not 10 because the graphics arent up to scratch. AND i know that they deliberately toned down the graphics for lowere end PCs, but bad graphics is still bad graphics. But bloody awesome game.

Pros: New unit choices, dynamic story, mission choices, large campain (23 missions, most games come with 8 or 9 per side, so up to 18 total), lots of humor, great graphics, awsome multiplayer, upgraded map editor for more great possibities in map making. cons: tasking on hardware to run at full settings, a bit laggy online, only comes with Terran campain so long wait to play other stories nutral: cost of expansions will not be the same price as a full game, but will offer over 20 missions per side, no new units...at this time...will be offered to keep balancing issues out I think this game is not perfict, but it is awsome and a must have for RTS fans People who are giving this game less then a 5 are probally morons who dont know what their talking about. I can not see one acutal complaint about the game that was not a known issue (like only comming with one storyline), or the price (which will come down in 6 months). Also, morons dont realise that they will, in 2-3 years, will be able to buy the game and all the expansions as a package deal, so if you dont like the price, dont give a bad rating beaucse this is a standard for games now (call of duty, music games that can cost $100s of dollars for the songs you want, or Fallout games). This is the game the RTS genera really needs, with all the crappy RTS games that are comming out now.… Expand

The game balance at launch is much better than the original game was at its launch, and with Blizzards track record of supporting their games well after release the game will continue to get better as time goes on. Seriously the docs are about the crappiest I have ever seen included with a game! Nice online docs sort of make up for this.     Conservative 9, because I don't like to give out 10's. The graphics are amazingly polished and definitely evoke that feeling that the game won't forget its lineage, the races are amazingly balanced, and the soundtrack is possibly the best to come from Blizzard (and that's saying something for the comppany with the best sound in gaming today).
