In concept a Star Wars game with souls-like gameplay sounds great, and it mostly is, but it feels like everything else is held back as a result. The story, world, and overall content just don't do enough for me, and the gameplay isn't good enough to justify it.

This is such a pale shadow of the older Lucasarts Jedi games, Jedi Knight II, Jedi Outcast.. This feels on rails and repetitive, despite the production values.

The plot is interesting, and Cal's character is attractive and fun to play. The difficulty curve (if you can call it that way) is good, and progressing while discovering your ancient powers is definitely rewarding. Opponents benefits from many detailed patterns and skins as the characters design appear to be one of the most gorgeous point about this game (not especially for Cere though). Special thanks for the Bounty Hunters here and there! 'Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order' is beautiful and you will never realize, except for this game, that five planets are too few to explore. The lore and the universe are fully respected. It is a pleasure to evolve in such a colourful, complex and varied worlds. The main opponents (the Empire) are amazingly represented and evoke huge powers. The music and soundesign are gorgeous. The game offers diverse difficulty levels. It feels like being a game held by strong ambitions and all things considered, well executed.

On the other hand, there are many buggy incomprehensions as when Cal's lightsaber goes through the environment without any damage (referring to the workbench as well as other structures or objects). This goes with many collision and texture bugs and walls you can go through as you get closer to the borders of the maps. Things are made to look good when they are far away, don't try to interact with what you see in the distance. There are way too many collectibles for such a short game (the main story lasts for something like 15 hours) and you are not even rewarded for gathering all the useless objects around the whole galaxy (these are just skins and dreadful paintings). Don't fall into the trap of the deuxe version as I did because wow, this is a void of content. The cutscenes are numerous and sadly unskippable. If they do bring some depth to the story they also are full of conveniences and pathetic dialogues. If, as I've said, planets are fun to explore, they're much less fun to navigate using the mini-map, which is a real nightmare. I can't see how they could have done it better though but it still remains very hard to use properly. And why not using fast travels? Aren't the camps made to do that? The game takes years to launch, as well as going from a planet to another: don't expect to play for less than 20 minutes on this one. But in the end it is not worse than this last inconvenient: you have to use the EA launcher AND be connected to the internet in order to play, even if you have the game (as me) only on Steam! I didn't count the number of times I had to restart my PC just because the EA launcher didn't let me play... Such a mess.

    * Multi-GPU support which functions spectacularly - able to run the game in 4k / 60fps with (2) 1080 Ti cards and the game runs absolutely fantastic with beautiful visuals and smooth performance.
    * - there's a point in the game where you have to climb an AT-AT Imperial Walker and that is a pretty neat mission. They did a really nice job rendering the Walker itself as well as just the whole scene. It was a neat way to change up the pace of the game while capturing the accuracy of the Star Wars assets like the AT-AT Walker.
    * Can upgrade to a dual bladed light saber like Darth Maul uses in Episode 1. Very cool combat animations with it.
    * The final boss fight is very well done. I won't spoil any of it with details, just will say it's very well done and true to the lore, the devs did a nice job with it.

    Cons:

    * Combat is very difficult and unforgiving. I had to play most boss fights on easy, and I'm generally pretty good at combat in these types of games.
    * Further building on the combat - I've seen some references on the Steam store page compare some of the combat to "Dark Souls" which IMO is not a favorable comparison - games where you have to die a bunch of times to figure out what you're supposed to do is not something I'd ever enjoy or recommend as it kills immersion. Teach me how to use the combat system and then let me become a master at it - this game does go over-the-top in some areas where you will face an opponent who you have to die a time or two to learn their moves which is an absolute immersion killer.
    * Seems to be no way to really descend if you want to climb down somewhere - just have to jump and pray you don't die.
    * A lot of instances during the story flow where Cal will just fall to his death - many of these instances are sort of like QTEs where you have to jump in or at a specific spot with exact precision while moving at high speed in order to not die which is a bit of an immersion killer as you cannot always see where you're going and it's a lot of guesswork. This is another situation that I'd say crushes immersion because you have to constantly die and try again in order to know where to go.
    * Like other similar games with similar mechanics, a lot of collectibles will be located in locations early in the game where you can't get to them, forcing you to have to backtrack - I always find this mechanic to be a bit tedious.
    * EA's Origin Client as a requirement even on Steam - this is the key reason I won't buy a personal copy of this game yet. If they remove the Origin Client requirement I'll buy it immediately on Steam.
    * Character development is kinda "meh". Cal is an ok character, but a lot of the people he meets along the way aren't really developed all that well individually or in regard to their relationships with Cal - not saying it's awful, but it could have been done a LOT better as a lot is left up to assumption - for example he'll have only a handful of actual conversations with certain people, if that, but later in the game certain conversations will imply he's really close buddies with those people - overall in this regard it just makes the game's relationships with each other and the protagonist not feel all that thoroughly developed when compared with a game like say The Witcher.
    * Jumping system as far as navigation is pretty bad. Lots of deaths from simply my character not jumping very far on the first try, etc. in areas where you're having to jump through the trees and land exactly right when it's tough to land at all if your character doesn't jump far enough - it's just like an aforementioned bullet point where the movement system is just too unforgiving.
    * Too much "exploring" and just navigating the maps like Tomb Raider...I didn't mind that in Tomb Raider because that's the point, but this game needs a LOT more combat and less just wandering around - because of these types of mechanics, stretches of the game can be very boring.

Other Commentary: I'd like to get another one of these games, and hopefully some of the cons will be addressed. Would love a smoother combat system with bette responses and parrying precision while not making it so difficult that you have to die at least once every boss fight in order to learn the enemy's moves. I'd also like to see, if they do a future game with Cal Kestis, him doing his thing in full Jedi robes as he never gets them in this game as they are on the run for most of the game to deal with their mission and the Jedi are on the run anyway. It would just be cool to be wearing a Jedi robe like Obi Wan & Anakin while fighting with a light saber.

Fallen Order: When being a Jedi feels worse than a stormtrooper.

Prepare for a galactic disappointment with Fallen Order, a game that leaves you questioning if you've truly mastered the Force or just mastered the art of sighing heavily. Picture this: stormtroopers, notorious for their inability to hit the broad side of a Bantha, somehow manage to survive not one, not two, but a mind-numbing three to four lightsaber strikes. It's as if they found an armor upgrade at the discount space station. Someone call a Wookiee because this logic needs some serious fixing!

But that's not the only thing that'll leave you scratching your head faster than R2-D2 in a sandstorm. No, no, my friends. In Fallen Order, you can't simply run through a level like a Jedi on a mission. Oh, no! You're forced to explore every nook and cranny, as if the next step forward could be hiding behind a space slug. It's a game of hide-and-seek, and you're stuck being the seeker.

And let's talk about jumping, shall we? Apparently, Jedi leap distances are about as impressive as a Jawa's vertical jump. You'll find yourself tiptoeing on the edge of ledges, praying you'll make it to the other side. It's like they forgot to equip Jedi with space boots that actually allow for decent jumps. Who needs smooth and effortless when you can have heart-pounding and edge-of-your-seat, am I right?

Now, here's where the real comedy kicks in. Picture this: you, a Jedi, capable of slowing down humans in their tracks like a Jedi traffic cop. But when it comes to monsters, well, let's just say they're immune to the Force. It's like the game creators believed that giant, menacing beasts have some kind of anti-Jedi shield, while conveniently forgetting to distribute the memo to the human villains. Nice going, guys. I'm sure the monster-sized brains came up with that brilliant concept.

And hold on to your blasters because we're just getting started! All the levels are chock-full of tantalizing places you can't access right away. Oh, the anticipation! You'll have to revisit those areas once you've gained some Jedi abilities to upgrade your character's health and force. It's like waiting in line for your favorite intergalactic theme park ride, but instead of thrills and chills, you're rewarded with an upgrade to your character's life bar. Oh, the excitement! Or lack thereof.

Now, let's chat about upgrades, shall we? Prepare for disappointment, my fellow Jedi wannabes. About 99% of the upgrades you'll encounter are as useful as a thermal detonator in a pillow fight. It's a parade of meaningless cosmetic changes that'll have you questioning if Jedi knights were secretly fashionistas. I mean, really, did Obi-Wan Kenobi ever lose sleep over his wardrobe choices or pondered a new shade of lightsaber color? I think not.

But wait, there's more! The fights, my friends, are as underwhelming as Jar Jar Binks trying to tell a joke. The lackluster upgrades and battles make you wonder if you accidentally picked up a plastic lightsaber toy instead of the real deal. Sorry, Jedi, but you'll have to look elsewhere for that authentic lightsaber-wielding thrill. Fallen Order seems to have misplaced it among the stars.

And speaking of misplaced, how on Tatooine did this game manage to earn such high ratings?

But the main plot? Well, let's just say it's like navigating an asteroid field blindfolded. We're chasing the footsteps of a late Jedi researcher who apparently had a penchant for leaving cryptic clues like a Hutt leaving a trail of crumbs to his secret stash of snacks. It's a plot twist that leaves you with more questions than a protocol droid at a trivia night.

In a galaxy far, far away, one would expect a Jedi adventure to be filled with awe-inspiring moments, epic battles, and a sense of mastery over the Force. Yet, Fallen Order manages to deliver an experience that feels more like being stuck in hyperspace traffic than embarking on a legendary quest.

So, how did this game manage to achieve such lofty ratings? It's a mystery that even Yoda would struggle to decipher. Perhaps the Force is playing some cosmic prank on us, or maybe there's a secret Sith conspiracy at play. Whatever the case may be, Fallen Order's high acclaim remains as baffling as a Gungan trying to pronounce "lightsaber."

In conclusion, brace yourself for a lackluster Jedi journey with Fallen Order. It's a game that will have you questioning the logic of lightsaber strikes, exploring every inch of the galaxy, tiptoeing on ledges, and facing off against monsters that are somehow immune to Jedi powers. With underwhelming upgrades, lackluster battles, and a plot that feels more convoluted than navigating an asteroid field, it's no wonder this game falls short of capturing the true essence of being a Jedi. May the Force be with you, because you'll need all the help you can get to find enjoyment in this galaxy far from greatness.

The gameplay is good, but the maps and scenarios are very tedious, it's very boring to go through the same place several times. They recycle a lot the maps. The combat is not up to the level of the game. The best thing is the graphics, but I think I won't finish it because of the laziness of going through the same maps.

Cameron Monaghan's brilliant and believable performance as Cal Kestis is also one of the highlights of this game, and he skillfully weaves one of the most relatable and likable characters since the original Trilogy.

Whether it is his strained relationship with his new allies, his diminished belief in his own abilities, his fear of the repercussions to others around him if he is found out - to his heartbreaking relationship with his friend Prauf (that is all too briefly cut short at the start of the game); Cal is the kind of unlikely hero you can't help but empathize with, and actually WANT to get behind and see succeed.

The cast of misfit characters around him are also as layered and broken, and in that you get a feeling that like the original Trilogy, you are watching them overcome their own limitations, fears, and baggage instead of simply existing from the start as some kind of Marry Sue or Comedic Punching bag.

This game was an extremely welcome surprise.

From the start the game shows you "strong and independent" tehcnical workers (that talk a lot just in case you didn't notice them). It also has female characters in key leandership positions. They are all strong, intelligent, etc. While guys are goofballs. Also all the normal enemies that you kill by the ton are guys. Guess equality ends there.

Bugs and Glitches were still there when i last played like the part where Cal unlocks the dual weild, in my playthrough the lightsaber broke itself completely and proceded to explode which was pretty hilarious. The graphics, even at almost the maximum level, often look crooked, the landscapes are soapy, especially for the year of release, and for the company that made the game ... but I won’t call it frankly bad either. Landscapes are often were very pleasing.

    1) 95% of boxes are wild cosmetic junk. 5% - improvement of healing. Almost all hidden places are not worth the effort, except for those that increase health or strength. As a result, looting - failed.
    2) I almost immediately understood why platforming in this game caused anger in so many people.
    3) The combat system seems to be good, but... there have often been situations where you either get hit in the face from the void (the enemy ignores the dodge)... or the enemy performs unblockable hits 100500 times, especially great when there is someone else nearby... or the animals behaved as if they got drunk barrel of energy drinks with a ton of adrenaline pills (including bugs with getting stuck in wall, or flying into the air). Until the very end, the combat system kept me in an unpleasant feeling that something was going to go wrong ... this was not even in Sekiro and Nioh, so it's not the difficulty of the battle, but the flaw in the system itself.
    4) As a separate point, I want to express my anger to those who did not work out the bugs due to which I went through all the enemies in the arena, and on the last one I won’t be able to apply the “scripted finishing move”, because the monster’s body has disappeared! and I had to reboot the whole arena again!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Best Star Wars campaign in a while!! The souls-like elements are really cool and they are toned down, in comparison to dark souls, which is good. It brings more casual players into the fold. The story is excellent and I loved all the new characters. I can't wait for a follow up or more singleplayer Star Wars games.

And the best thing which game does perfectly is the link between tutorial, story telling, skill tree and game mechanics. Every per couple hours, game shows you part of the tutorial which you can obtain new parkour mechanics or force abilities (which unlocks new abilities in the skill tree) and a story part from the your Jedi's past life. And thus, game doesn't feels boring even you played long hours in a day.

And the level design was good for me. You can change level 's whenever you want, and once you stuck in a path in one planet, you can go another and gain new abilities to continue your way. I liked this idea, but the motivation to discover planets are terrible. They motivate you with only cosmetic skins... That's sucks. İ was played game on grandmaster difficulty, im not a casual player i don't need to skins xd.

    The controls are terrible.

The gameplay in general is terrible. Where do I go? Am I supposed to jump off this cliff? Nope. Why can I climb this wall, but I can't climb other walls? It's an inconsistent, bungled mess. The whole "where am I supposed to go?" thing would be fine if the game had a functional map, but the game's map might be the very worst designed map in any video game ever made in the history of video games. Who designed this? Yuck.

    LONG unskippable cut scenes.

Jedi: Fallen Order is what happens when a big-budget game studio throws millions of dollars at a game. It has no soul. It has no originality. I can just imagine the game developers... "finished the level boss." Nobody cared.

I've played about 2 hours and I have no desire to ever play this game again.

+-Very cinematic vibe, if that's your kind of thing
    +-Rather linear
+-Perhaps too little story overall, and too much of it towards the last third of the game (although it's really a matter of taste).

    -Relies on backtracking
    -Lackluster collectibles
-Combat can have a very frustrating moments due to camera angles and cornering, not an actual challenge
-Using the map can be a serious headache

    Longer review:
Although not without faults, this is a great game. I'd note that I'm a complete newcomer to Star Wars - I have played no other video game, and watched none of the films (I did get interested and watched New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, so far, thanks to this game :) ).
So, does one need background in SW to enjoy this game? Not really, I'm sure old fans would enjoy more context - but this game still stands quite alright on its own.

So, from gameplay aspect - what we get here is relatively classic 3rd person action-adventure, with some Uncharted vibes. You progress through the world with the story pretty much moving you forward. You may hunt for collectibles, if you wish. The game presents some rather vast maps (for a LINEAR game that it is). You'll also fight enemies on the way, of course. I would start with the few complaints I have:
Story - as a person who likes story-driven, I felt there was not enough of it here for the most part. The game turns very cinematic towards the last third, but before it's mostly very thin. As many others indicate, the main character is not as interesting as the supporting cast, which is slightly disappointing.
Collectibles - exploring for them is much more satisfying than the content itself. What you may collect is mostly "notes" which I didn't feel gave much, and cosmetic changes to your character and starship. It's alright, but rather shallow, and I felt I've collected everything mostly for the satisfaction of 100% it and not for the content.
Backtracking - the game relies on it heavily, and while I think it's not as bad as other reviews suggest, this is still a little lackluster. When it's enforced on you because of the story, it is still kept somewhat interesting as the same way will be experienced differently, with some more paths accessible, etc, but backtracking for the sake of completing all collectibles is painful in a non-fun way.
Combat - is actually very fun, but can be very punishing in a very unfair way, on certain situations where the space is just too tight and you'll find yourself cornered with no ability to see anything again and again.

Putting those aside, this is still a very worthwhile experience. Traversing the wonderfully created worlds of Fallen Order is a real pleasure to the eye. The maps are very versatile and interesting and the cinematic phases are absolutely gorgeous.
The combat, besides the faults I've raised above, is very fun and fluid, and while at first it feels a bit limited it gets increasingly more satisfying as you improve your skills and gain new attacks. For a souls-like game, this game is rather accessible for newcomers new to the genre. It's fairly tough but also has an easier difficulty you can switch to whenever you wish, and is mostly very forgiving in the sense of checkpoints locations and getting back your progress once you die. It does take a bit getting used to, mind you, but after a couple of hours I felt the difficulty was quite alright - with just enough challenge. It's also worth mentioning there's a respectable amount of enemy types, so it surely doesn't get boring.

The story (once you get to it) is nothing revolutionary but is good and relatable. Thinking Star-Wars-wise, after watching two of the original trilogy movies I have also got the impression that the game is very loyal to the general lore and vibe of the franchise, including the enemies design and the wonderful soundtrack which wonderfully taps the cues from the films' soundtracks.

Plot is a 1000x better than the sequel movies, albeit not very challenging overall.

Graphics are pretty good. Had some bugs, nothing major.

Accessible if you don't enjoy self punishment games like Dark Souls, just play on minimum difficulty.

I would give 7.5, but there's no microtransactions or forced co-op/multiplayer or over the top SWJ rhetoric. I will give 8.5 and round off to 9.

The puzzles were mostly decent and sometimes annoying, the meat of the game for me personally is the fights, they offer a decent amount and a pretty large variety of enemies and the game play itself is pretty challenging (even on normal mode) which makes the boss battles hard as heck. The story is alright , the characters were fine for the most part and the voice acting was great. One of the best things about this game is the beautiful environments and animations that they show. Like every planet looks unique and has a different structure and life and they have made an amazing job on that part. There aren't that many plotwists and the twists themselves weren't that WOOOAH but I enjoyed the ending and the special guest that showed up for like 5 minutes. This game had done something in a long time which the Tv shows and the crappy Disney movies didn't do, it made me actually enjoy Star Wars again and turned back time to when I was a kid just watching the coolest **** ever on VHS. It is based on the Dark Souls system with rest/meditation/bonfire points and respawns monsters. We are waiting for good CGI videos and several beautiful, but boring levels where we have to look for chests and solve puzzles. Hello Zelda.
It seems that the levels are striking with variety, but this is not so, the path, albeit winding, is one. It gets boring very quickly as if you are swarming in the baby playground.

Sword! The sword has cool on/off sounds, it glows beautifully. It can be customized, but why? In the heat of the battle, there is no time to look at it. Fighting with swords is very simplified, there are big questions to the sword itself. Sword damage is not thought out. On some surfaces, no marks remain, and in passive mode, it simply passes through surfaces without leaving any marks. If that's still forgivable in LEGO Star Wars. But in a game like this? And this is a super Jedi weapon?
I do not believe it. Rather a Toy from Amazon.

It's weird that the developers took the time to draw dozens of costumes for the protagonist, but they were not enough for the variety of levels and the mechanics of the lightsaber.

People rating this game high aren't really thinking about how much better this game could've been, given EA's infinite budget.

This is one of those games that NEEDS to be open-world, it needs NPC's populating the world, it needs crafting, it needs actual customization (like why is my Jedi carrying 20 jackets ponchos in his pocket), it needs to be an RPG. Star Wars isn't meant to be a

Star Wars isn't meant to be a Dark Souls rip-off
    - the saving system is sh!t - you spend half the time tracking back because you forgot to meditate at the 4000th save portal. like why are there so many save portals everywhere :S meditating anywhere (hello witcher 3) would've been more realistic and more game-friendly.
    - like WHY ON EARTH do enemies have to miraculously respawn and most of the time right behind you :S - what a lazy, pathetic, immersion breaking feature.

Like EA should offload the Star Wars series to idk, Ubisoft, or Bethesda, Obsidian, someone who can develop a REAL open-world RPG experience.

As fun as slashing storm troopers in half with your lightsaber is, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen order is fairly underwhelming. The game ran anywhere from 20-50 fps with all the settings on medium or low, and everything else on my pc closed. I had to set the performance in task manager to very high to even get 50 fps. Keep in mind, this is all on a 2,000 dollar pc that is more than capable of running triple A games. The optimization of this Star Wars game can really take away from the experience. Keep this in mind before buying. Expand

Story is good but the progression is really bad it seems like they added soo much platforming and alien creature boss fights just to fill the gap cause the story is short. Most of the times i was fighting a creature of that planet or trying to get to a point where I would finally see a cutscene related to the story.
I expected the game to be better if u are telling a star wars story please focus on the star wars elements not go to this planet solve all these puzzles and get to this point to watch a 5 min cutscene and now go back to your ship this takes approx. 1 hr. just for 5 min of fun

Awesome mix of souls like mechanics with less punishment for mistakes. Another big plus of the game - it started to be boring right before the final mission, so it ended right where I need it. And that run at the end of the game! Felt perfect narrative-wise.

This game has great voice acting, good visuals, and a pretty good story. Unfortunately, several design decisions really drag it down.

    1) No dark side path. You don't really have any incentive to replay the game because of this. 2) It is highly repetitive and you end up having to backtrack over areas constantly The first of these is really the biggest shame frankly. A dark side path

The first of these is really the biggest shame frankly. A dark side path wouldn't just give you this second gameplay option. It also forces your companions to have to address how you are changing as a character. So it's an opportunity to explore the personality of these companions more. By stripping this out of a game like this they completely missed a huge opportunity as far as I'm concerned.

Plus it just removes so much replayability.

Also the force powers are underwhelming as well.

One of the best Star Wars games ever made.

Pros: - Beautiful graphics - Good controls on mouse and keyboard while being made primarily for controller - Upgrading system has that classic feeling to it while not being too complicated - Combat is easy to learn, hard to master - Boss fights are so cool and intense it gets your adrenaline going - I like the character development -

    - Lots of places to explore after beating the game
    - Arena mode

    Cons:
    - I kinda wish there would have been a dark side ending like in Force Unleashed 2, but i understand that its not like cal to fall to the dark side + if we get a sequel then the normal ending would be canon, not the dark side ending.

    - The price is kinda hefty unless you really like open world single player games.

    In conclusion:

    - It really is one of the best Star Wars game and is sequel worthy.

O game me surpreendeu bastante, digo isso, pois foi a EA que fez.
Gameplay boa, trilha boa, graficos bons.
Tem muito elementos de outros games, como o tomb raider e prince of persia.
Joguei pelo gamepass e recomendo jogar por la mesmo.

A high-quality project, I don't like the universe, but the design leveled and the combat system was very delayed (overprice)

Fallen Order is a must have for Star Wars fans and the best Star Wars game in years. Both literally and figuratively: the Force is strong with this one. [01/2020, p.42]

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order gives its best on PC, delivering an awesome experience in 4K and 60 frames per second with advanced visual effects.
