That's a real GEM. It's a mix between shoot'em up and roguelike, with cool retro visuals, great chip tunes and a truly well balanced difficulty. You'll learn from enemies...and from your errors. It's simply a pleasure to play: MONOLITH for sure deserves more attention from both the players and the critics. A must-buy for action lovers.

Simply the best and most overall balanced roguelike I've ever played. Boss battles and soundtrack are my favorite parts.

Since I'm not into bullet hells, I didn't like like this game when I first played it. But I kept playing just for the sake of completion and suddenly I'm addicted. This is the only game that I care about playing in hard mode, it is more like a progression than just a difficulty setting (without giving any spoiler, the game kinda changes).

My only complaint is that the upgrades are kinda

My only complaint is that the upgrades are kinda broken, some of them are completely useless and a run can be determined by the first couple of upgrades that are available to you, if you start with the item drop one and the replace weapons you have a huge advantage, and they are useless in the later stages; the opposite happens with the second will, creating powerful weapons and 1/3 HP increase, where they are stronger later in the game.

Kudos on the toggle on the weapons purchase, most of the ones I found useless (Sword, Drill, Thunderhead, Pulsar... maybe the reason is my play style?). Some other rogue lites (like deadcells) I refrain for purchasing new weapons since the more weapons you get the lower the chance you find the ones you like.

Even among the many fast-paced Roguelites, Monolith is still a great addition to the genre. Levels are shorter and faster than ever before (whole FLOORS can take less than 3 minutes) and the mechanics and movement feel great to play. My 2 issues are, builds (and upgrades) are not very deep, and many necessary QoL are locked behind the paid DLC. The game WITH the DLC is as good as a 9, butEven among the many fast-paced Roguelites, Monolith is still a great addition to the genre. Один из лучших представителей жанров bullethell и рогаликов. Под маской визуальной простоты и минимализма прячется очень продуманный и глубокий игровой опыт, где уклонение от пуль превращается в танец

I loved Star of Providence to the point of having trouble putting it down because of its fast-paced shmup gameplay, punishing bullet hell patterns, and replayability. Defeating its astoundingly difficult boss battles is satisfying and encourages the player to improve mechanically and thoughtfully. If you make it to the Hard mode, you’ll be treated to bullet patterns that will test your dexterity like few others have done before.

In a year packed to the brim with sprawling AAA blockbusters, the nearly claustrophobic hybrid that is Monolith still manages to leave a mark. It’s not revolutionary, but it deftly merges two genres that have largely been left separate. Most of all, it takes a lean but rock-solid framework and bolts just enough onto it to meet its goals. It accomplishes every one of them with ease, and it never attempts to do something it can’t excel at. It’s an example that more games should strive for.

Scoring any lower would be a bit far for what the game offers and does. It’s like baked beans on toasts: nice and filling, but you wouldn’t call it a proper meal. If you’re into your Rogue type games, looking for something short, snappy and quick. This is a game for you. Personally, this just isn’t my cup of tea with what it does.
