It just runs so well, so damn smooth and the sound effects are out of this world. Even just starting up my ship is a euphoric experience for me in Elite Dangerous and I never get tired of it. The ships are overly complicated in Star Citizen and the set up is intimidating. Playing it feels more like hard work. That's not to say I don't enjoy Star Citizen, it's the second best space sim in my opinion and there are aspects of it that are better than elite dangerous I love my persona and character development in Star Citizen as well as walking around my ship and the graphics are mind blowing. What I usually do is play Star Citizen for a few hours and when exhaustion sets in and I get tired of the bugs I switch to Elite Dangerous which feels more polished and way more chilled to play. But we really are spoiled brats when we get to play such amazing games and we fight over which is better. Play your favourite or play both and just be grateful you are born in a time that we can have such amazing experiences in video games. When I was a kid I used to fantasize about exploring space and having amazing adventures there. 10 year old me would have pissed his pants with excitement if he could have played either of these two games back then. The creator of this game should face criminal charges for mismanagement and fraud (hired his wife, hide fact that she is his wife, wife used company's office and workers to further her "movie career" with husband's approval).

    Ten thousand broken promises.

its barely a game, tried it for free cant think about how sad it is to buy it.
it runs poorly on my very high end pc and bugs and glitches appear every couple of minutes
also calling it alpha is no excuse for the teams bad coding knowledge

Cannot stand it anymore. For 10 years now I revisit on a yearly basis, but enough is enough. If I could, I would command my money back.

An over 10 year old game with exactly that old graphics, sluggish and messy controls by foot, and arcade-ish mouse controls in space, this is a disgrace for all the good ones Mr. Roberts created decades ago. It is a shame. Uninstalled it for good

edit: And for the 10/10 ratings, stating "it is Alpha, there are meant to be bugs": How many decades until we reach the beta? So entertaining, at least for once.

    Strange.

But if you're reading this, the Star Citizen saga is one worth reading up on - it's basically a vaporware game that started out with good intentions but feature creep and an insane fan base morphed the game into a decade plus long scam where the developers make more money from not releasing it than if they ever did. Seriously look it up, it's a case study on the sunk cost fallacy.

Because of the direction the game has taken, I said goodbye to SC as a potential player several years ago. At the same time, with more than $100, I am also one of the gullible who have participated in this orgy of money destruction.

After more than 10 years of development, a playable (i.e. largely bug-free) version is not in sight. Instead, the whole thing has turned into an orgy of selling virtual spaceships at real-money fantasy prices. A few years ago, even virtual properties on planets were considered for sale for real money.

A telling example of something going wrong with CGI and in the development of the game is the fact that only now, after more than ten years of development, has a localization of the game begun. Does that mean that only now is a concrete end goal being strived for? Or is it possibly a signal to the remaining SC believers that they can expect a playable version soon (i.e. in the next 10 years)?

In my estimation, however, the majority of the owners of these expensive, virtual spaceships will not be able to fly with them in their lifetimes. At least not in a playable version. Possibly the disappointed majority already rejects this game, also because of the concrete implementation of the game idea. Because there are also serious points of criticism about the implementation of the game idea from my point of view. Another showstopper after completion will also be the question of the running costs for this monster.

My current experience when re-testing is that this supposedly so great software doesn't even offer the possibility to specify the respective output screen in the options. This inevitably makes you wonder, "What have they been doing for 10 years!"

    Deutsch:

As I said before, the game is still in Alpha, so it is normal that there are bugs. I'd like to point out that the bugs in question are generally easy to solve, when you encounter them once, you don't get fooled the second time around.
This project is one of my favorites, indeed, no other game is as ambitious, the game has to date a hundred ships of all sizes, which can accommodate crews of 1 to 500 people. Dozens of planets and moons to explore. Several professions from the most calm like exploration to the most intense like bounty hunting where you have to hunt down real players who would have done illegal things, with some narrative part.
In addition, the game offers a mix between the piloting of ships and the FPS part (combat with weapons such as pistols, combat knives, shotguns, snipers).

In summary, this game is the most ambitious I've seen, offering countless professions, which will allow you not to be bored for a long time.
The bugs you may encounter in this Alpha are usually annoying the first time but avoidable afterwards, and are quickly corrected by the developers who listen to the community (which is rare for games of this magnitude).

What we have currently is a Star Citizen "Alpha 3.17.4". That's right, 10 years and it is still in Alpha. The last time I played this hot trash, my $90 fighter and 4-5 other fighters were trying to take down a single premium several hundred dollar alien craft in PVP for nearly 30 minutes, and it repeatedly smoked all of us, because in its current state the game is pay to play.

I am honestly so butt hurt about this. I feel like I was robbed by the developer, and I will never support any game Chris peddles in the future. Maybe in my death bed in 60 years I will finally see it enter Beta.

I've been following SC development for 4 years now, and while I can't recommend this game to people that simply want to play something and are not interested in tech and/or gaming development, I can't blatantly say it's a scam. They've made impressive progress on many fronts, and the scale they're working at is unparalleled.

The reason this game is funded, even if it didn't have a stellar progress of development, is because the targeted audience fiercely wants this idea to be born. There is currently no other idea on the market that fits the vision of SC.

The community is one of the most mature you'll get, and is friendly. Did Chris Roberts inflate the promises for the game? Probably yes, and as all things in life he will pay in some way if this is such.
Still, the developers gathered for this project, and the progress I've observed until now are indicators of potential success.

Will this MMORPG succeed? I don't know. But this is not a released game and this is not a scam.

The game is still in early Alpha development and as such should not be rated as a finished product. However, it has a lot to show for it despite being an Alpha, as some its' features and scope are unrivaled. I suggest you do a YouTube search and watch people play the game, or better yet, try it during a free-fly week which happen throughout the year.
