For those new to this strange epic, the raft of under-the-hood fixes and balances makes it the best place to start. [Feb 2010, p.101]

It’s SR2, but with more awesomeness. It’s still cute, it’s still funny, and chances are now you can even run it on your netbook. If you think you might like it, chances are, you’ll love it. You’d be missing out otherwise.
  3. A great attempt, but light years from a supernova.

It may not have all the fancy 3d graphics that make other games like X3 looks amazing, but the 2d art is just as breathtaking. If you have ever wanted to explore a universe your own way at your own pace; be involved in a war of annihlation against a supremely superior force, become a master trader in an ever adjusting galactic economy, partake in truly challenging RTS battles each with unique objectives and challenges that serve to push the limits of your tactical thinking, form your own fleet of experienced wingmen, become the ultimate space pirate and prey on innocent civilian and merchant vessels, or become the greatest mercanary and follow the paper trail, and complete very tricky and witty (text) quests that are just as interesting as they are rewarding then this is your game! If your looking for an adventure in a truly living universe where just to survive is a challenge in itself then this is your game. Like I said 97hrs, one play through. I will say I did not give it a perfect score because of two sticking points. One is the translation, its not perfect English, but that never halted my game play. And second, the RTS battles can be pretty unforgivable early on, but once you learn what works best, you learn to relish the challenges. Full Review »

It is a very rare fit when a mix of Strategy, RPG, Action, and Adventure genres comes into a harmonious **** of a well-executed game. The game is balanced, adventure parts are very-well written and full of humor, the art is amazing, RPG element is awesome where you gain experience and sell/buy equipment for your ship, planetary strategy is fast-paced and intuitive.
You just gotta play this game to know what's it about. I had A BLAST!
