This is just the best way to play this game. For those of you who don't know Sonic CD is one of the best games in the Sonic The HedgehogThis is just the best way to play this game. For those of you who don't know Sonic CD is one of the best games in the Sonic The Hedgehog series, and this is a great PC port. Sonic CD was originally released on the Mega CD. This port has some good options such as resolution control, so the game will fit and scale to proper resolutions, at least for the 16:9 monitor that I was using. The control is great, I was using a keyboard because I don't have controller. One thing I noticed is that the frame rate is locked at 60 FPS, but it isn't noticeable and only know that because I had a frame rate counter. I would highly recommend this game for anyone that loves the Sonic series, retro platformers, or platformers in general. Full Review »

Sonic CD is one of my favorite Sonic games. I even bought the ill-fated Sega CD for this game. Unlike all other Sonic CD games where prettySonic CD is one of my favorite Sonic games. I even bought the ill-fated Sega CD for this game. Unlike all other Sonic CD games where pretty much the only goal is to exit stage left, this game forces you to be more careful in how you progress through it by giving you the following goals.
    * Destroy the robot generator in the past
    * Destroy the Metal Sonic hologram in the past
    * Travel to good future and exit the level

You must travel between the past, present and future in order to accomplish these goals. To time travel you must hit the appropriate sign post and then maintain a good running speed for 3-5 seconds without getting hit or stopped. Finding the right spots for time travel can be very tricky. It is hard to do when you want to do it and sometimes too easy when you don't. Sometimes you may wind up in the wrong time period (such as the bad futures) while they are fun to explore they won't help you accomplish your goals and traveling into the past can be very tricky in the later stages. Each time period changes the layout of the level and the backgrounds and music and each zone has a good and bad future so each zone is really 4 zones in 1. The game is massive and you'll frequently go over the 10 minute limit on levels trying to accomplish the goals and find just the right spots to time travel. Sometimes accomplishing the goals can be a tedious hunt, in which case I recommend the following guide to help you out of those tight spots: http://www.soniczone0.com/games/soniccd/stagesandstory/ The guide has a level map for each stage with time travel spots noted.

The achievements are very fun extras that were introduced with the XBox360 release. The PC version does them very well but I must warn you that ALL achievements must be accomplished with Sonic rather than Tails (unlockable).

The PC port is just the perfect way to experience this classic game and is greatly enhanced with options to choose the video filters:
    * Retro - looks like an old CRT TV complete with scanlines
    * Smooth - bilinear filtering, looks good while preserving the blocky corners
    * Sharp (recommended)- very nice smoothing that does a great job of extrapolating sharp points and smoothing the sprites, And options to choose music:
    * Japanese - Highly regarded as one of the best Sonic soundtracks ever.
    * American - Similar and yet quite different. While most people prefer the Japanese soundtrack there are some gems in the American soundtrack such as Stardust Speedway's bad future.

An XBox360 gamepad is highly recommended for playing this game.

To me, sonic CD is the best sonic game ever, it has a ton of new special features, like the super peel out, time travelling, new zones,To me, sonic CD is the best sonic game ever, it has a ton of new special features, like the super peel out, time travelling, new zones, enemies, good soundtrack... etc. The fact that they remade this game was a good idea, when sonic looks up there's a sprite sequence which is cool i gotta say, an options screen which is pretty useful, plus there's a option if you want to choose between the JP/PAL or US Soundtrack, and i gotta say that's a good thing they added there.
