    The best Sonic racing game, and one of the best Sonic games! Driving feels smooth, the items are great, and the different vehicles have their own mechanics that make each track feel different from each other. A great time!

    I've unlocked all characters and tracks after 23 hours (some of that was playing online, which was lag free), so I'm done at this point. Not going to do World Tour or Grand Prix on S rank because the AI is just crazy in that mode and there is no reason to do it aside from achievement hunting. It's a lot of fun and there is a good amount of content there for a kart racer, lots ofI've unlocked all characters and tracks after 23 hours (some of that was playing online, which was lag free), so I'm done at this point. Not going to do World Tour or Grand Prix on S rank because the AI is just crazy in that mode and there is no reason to do it aside from achievement hunting. It's a lot of fun and there is a good amount of content there for a kart racer, lots of challenges to overcome in World Tour mode. Only 20 tracks, but they are longer than Mario Kart tracks (many taking more than 5 minutes to do 3 laps on) and several tracks have third laps that are totally different from the first two, plus you have boat car and plane modes so there is a good amount of variety here. Highly recommended.

    May need to run the launcher through the install dir to get it to open, may need to disable ambient occlusion in the launcher since at least for me the game doesn't run well with it on (my system blows the requirements out of the water). Also has crashes on some cards, but there is a workaround for that if you google it (seems to be specific to 1600 and 2000 series Nvidia cards).    … Expand

    I got the PC version back in July and while it's still mostly just like any old kart racer, this one certainly does it as far as being a good Sonic racing game. The graphics are amazing, most of the tracks look brilliant while staying true to that Sonic/SEGA feel, the level-up/reward system is superb, it's difficulty settings are actually what they say they are (not too easy, not too hard)I got the PC version back in July and while it's still mostly just like any old kart racer, this one certainly does it as far as being a good Sonic racing game.     The stats are complete trash on pretty much any character you play, and the game asks to mod them, shouldn't have to, should just be stats that make sense like seen in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

    There's no hidden tech that makes it fun and exhilarating to come back and play.

    Stunts don't work half the time you try and trick over them, so what's the point of having them implemented.

    1/10 on entertainment

    1/10 on gameplay

    1/10 on controls

    One of the best kart games ever made, the mechanics of transformation are really cool, the circuits that change over the laps that give variety in the races. Many characters not only from the Sonic series but others from SEGA, in addition to the tracks that are from various games. A gigantic evolution compared to the previous game!

    I didn't expect this game to be this fun. And it runs without any problem on a more modern pc with Windows 10 and it has enough settings to play around for an overall smooth experience. Lots of characters from different SEGA series (hell, you can even play Team Fortress 2 characters !), beautiful tracks that evolves throughout the race and gameplay is simple enough to get used to it, withI didn't expect this game to be this fun. And it runs without any problem on a more modern pc with Windows 10 and it has enough settings to play around for an overall smooth experience. Lots of characters from different SEGA series (hell, you can even play Team Fortress 2 characters !), beautiful tracks that evolves throughout the race and gameplay is simple enough to get used to it, with a little bit of training you can get quite good. If you don't own a Nintendo system or just want a fun solo Kart (and plane, and boat ?) Racer then this is a must have. It's not perfect by any means, certain characters just suck to use as their stats are pretty mediocre, while sometimes it's meaningless, and if you have Metal Sonic unlocked you already have him maxed out anyway.
    All in all, if you grab it on sale, it's an awesome deal.    … Expand

    Gameplay

    Sonic & All-Stars Racing feels pretty much like Mario Kart: a race with a kart transforming into a plane/a boat when needed, with objects generated randomly which you can use to get faster or to shoot on your opponents. Races are fast-paced and more interactive than Mario Kart's circuits, as the track and the obstacles change dynamically at every new lap. It makes the race very lively. The impression of speed is much more present than in Mario's game.

    While the mechanics of some items are directly inspired from similar games, some others (the swarm or the overheating engine) bring something new to the genre. The only thing we could regret here is that there are few game changing items (the all-star is basically the only one I can think of), so expect less twists than in Mario Kart.

    Universe, artistic design

    Sega's franchises are actually as iconic as Nintendo's and, although not all playable characters are so well known in the gaming community, each of them has his/her personality, punchlines, and characteristics. Beside Sonic, you will get levels from Jet Set Radio, Super Monkey Ball, Nights, and others. The musics and art are inspired from all the Sega universes represented in the game, and each level faithfully transposes the franchise from which it comes from. On top of that, the design of each level is well thought to be original and serve the pace of the race.

    Play Time

    Of course, like the games of the same kind, Sonic & All-Stars Racing is primarily designed for multiplayer, and with a handful of modes besides the traditional race, it is an excellent game to play with friends. However, it is to be noted that, unlike most Mario Kart's, Sonic has a Career mode with a lot of challenges that can keep a solo player entertained for hours (I have not completed the career yet but it seems like one might need to play 20~30 hours to unlock everything).

    Conclusion

    If you like party games, you must have Sonic & All-Stars Racing; if you want a PC version of Mario Kart, this is THE game.    … Expand

    Despite not being a sonic fan and whilst this game lacks the polish and masterwork of a Mario Kart game, still enjoyed this game enough to unlock all the tracks and play them multiple times. A good time.

    This game is an easy 10 out of 10 for me. It's one of my favourite games of all time and I've only just discovered its existence (and fun factor) this year in 2019. The courses are great fun with a lot of variety some have just driving some driving and flying and others have driving, flying and boating.     And youre also able to play split screen in all of these modes, including the career…
    The career mode is the star of the show.. its challenging and addicting..
    There are a variety of challenges and paths for you to go down, all earning you 1-3 stars for completing..
    There are straight up races, theres drift challenges.. ring challenges, theres a mode where youre trying to take down a tank…. Theres my favorite elimination..
    I havnt had this much fun in a kart racer in a while..
    Before each race you chose your character you think will be best for the challenge youre about to take on and you go at it…
    drifting and tracks for speed boosts, speed pads all over the place, constant offensive and defensive pick ups…
    every race is so thrilling and you actually feel like skill matters here…
    With this resurgence of arcade racers from indie teams lately.. its nice to go back and feel that balance where pickups shortcuts and timing actually matters… especially with the different stats and versions of characters… it doesn’t feel luck based that everyone is on an even playing field .. it feels like every player on the track is in their own world.. in their own race where their objective and your objective and strategy aren’t the same…
    this is really highlighted in modes like elimination where not only are you racing for 1st place, but you only have 3 lives… you have to choose if youre going to risk taking a shortcut where its easy to fly off of the track, or are you going to hang in the back to deal damage, or maintain the lead trying to dodge it with a giant target on your back..
    this was the most interesting mode to me and I wish the campaign had more of it..
    and you heard me right earlier.. every character has different versions of themselves..
    as you use a character you gain xp to level them up.. this will unlock new modded versions of them wit different stats…
    so if you don’t like the base stats of your favorite character you can grind to level them up and choose a different version of them that is more your play style..
    the difficulty you take on these challenges though actually do matter.. you cant just easy mode your way through the career mode..
    you have to go for higher stars in modes you feel more confident in so that you can unlock alternate paths with more tracks as well as unlock characters and a bonus moderation…
    this adds to the addictiveness of going back and mastering tracks or modes, increasing your star count..
    And these tracks are all fun to race through.. especially with the whople transformed thing going on..
    you don’t get to choose when to transform but as you race there will be sections where youll be plying through the air, or racing through the sea just to land back on land again.. and all 3 of these flow perfectly, none of them annoying.. I hate flying in games.. I hate controlling planes.. but it feels responsive and smooth here, you hardly notice that anything has changes…
    My favorite thing this game does that I wish it did more of is actually tranfroming the map as your race it..
    there are some really cool maps that the final lap is completely different than the first 2 as things start to fall and crumble..
    I wish the played with this idea more, making every lap in every tracks different..
    Sonic * All Stars racing again is probably the best Kart racer not on a Nintendo console and is a must play for fans of this genre

    Na falta de kart games fora da plataforma da Nintendo Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed veio pra ocupar esse espaço, trazendo dezenas de personagens da SEGA para correrem em pistas onde há alterações durante a corrida, este com certeza é o maior charme do jogo, possui um cenário bem apelativo e que varia bastante enquanto você corre fazendo com que seu carro se transforme em um avião ouNa falta de kart games fora da plataforma da Nintendo Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed veio pra ocupar esse espaço, trazendo dezenas de personagens da SEGA para correrem em pistas onde há alterações durante a corrida, este com certeza é o maior charme do jogo, possui um cenário bem apelativo e que varia bastante enquanto você corre fazendo com que seu carro se transforme em um avião ou barco durante em meio a paisagens bem coloridas ou a destruição e desmoronamentos.     Un juego bastante entretenido que poco tiene que envidiar a la saga MK. Buenos gráficos, buena jugabilidad, mapas en tierra, mar y aire. Poder jugar con personajes de Sega es toda una delicia. Muchos items para arrojar a tus rivales, turbos y objetos para defenderse.

    Sin duda, recomendado. Un gran juego

    This game is amazing and is awesome for multiplayer. The graphics are stunning and so are the environments. However to make the game even better it would be good to add in more environments instead of having mirror tracks.

However, this and the diverse character roster seem to be the only features this game has the right to boast about. The way the difficulty was designed was nothing to brag about, as I found myself replaying the same level far more than I should due to the fact that in order to unlock most of the characters (which are mainly re-skins of other characters I might add), because on harder difficulties the game boils down to playing the game in a way that barely differs from grinding and you end up having to wait until the AI slips up and you get to make your lucky dash to the finish line until five seconds later when the cpu is already far ahead. My main complaint about this game is that when developing their game, Sega forgot the crucial fact that there is absolutely no reason to add specific features to a game if it makes no one want to purchase or recommend their game.… Expand

    A highly addictive racing game made by Sega. This game is loads of fun. It has a variety of tracks and is compatible with the Xbox One controller. I would recommend using the controller, too, as it can be a bit tricky with the keyboard. 9/10 (Awesome)

    Growing up I was a huge fan of 'Mario Kart'; both the Super Nintendo version and 'Mario Kart 64' as well. Then 'Diddy Kong Racing' came out and it was the greatest thing to ever happen to cart racers. Then Nintendo put out 'Double Dash', and it was the greatest thing to ever happen to cart racers. Then 'Mario Kart' came out for the Wii and needless to say, it wasn't very good. Then thisGrowing up I was a huge fan of 'Mario Kart'; both the Super Nintendo version and 'Mario Kart 64' as well. Then 'Diddy Kong Racing' came out and it was the greatest thing to ever happen to cart racers. Then Nintendo put out 'Double Dash', and it was the greatest thing to ever happen to cart racers. Then 'Mario Kart' came out for the Wii and needless to say, it wasn't very good. Then this game came out and all was well again in the land of cart racers.

    This is without a doubt, one of the best cart racing games to ever have been released. In fact, it's so good that I'm willing to overlook the fact that it's pretty much a complete rip-off of both 'Diddy Kong Racing' and 'Double Dash'. But that's probably what I like most about it. Really though, this game has everything you would want in a cart racing game and more. Various modes: such as 'destroy the tank', 'pass the traffic', and 'boost to the finish line' assure that you'll never get bored. Tons of tracks: 21 to be precise (that's old enough to legally consume alcohol!), a boatload of playable characters, tons of secrets, precision steering, and shortcuts galore!     it offers proper battle mode, intensive online racing which has so far worked out smoothly and some other exclusive modes which Mario Kart 8 doesn't have. It also offers flying and boating as in the old and awesome    Lets put it like this, i prefer this game all day over Mario Kart 8 and i find it vastly superior compared to Mario Kart franchise which is it's biggest rival out there..

It borrows a lot from DKC's groundbreaking system of 3 vehicles but since it's SEGA and they're goddamn crazy they go ahead and add all three during a single track, TRANSFORMING INTO ONE ANOTHER, because, why not!?This game is pretty awesome.     Like all racing games with weapons around the course the RNA is brutal, perhaps a little too brutal, but that's expected since day one.
    The PC port is great as well,hope SEGA keeps showing the love for the PC gamers crowd and also bring successors to this game, with even tighter controls, please. Ever since the demise of Mario Kart in the N64 days, we've been needing that.    … Expand

    Fun game but feels like a very obvious console port by having no keyboard customizeable settings while also packing a notorious rubber-banding AI whereas the slowest and worst possible vehicle/driver magically attains and keeps the speed of constantly being boosted throughout the entire track.     Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed is. when compared to other kart racers like Mariokart, much more fast-paced. Cars just seem faster in this game, and it makes it more challenging and immersive. Also, for a game set in a variety of other games' fantasy-worlds, the graphics are nothing short of stunning. Framerate matters in racing games, and 1440p 60fps has never looked cooler. And the fact that it's on PC is even better- Just get a USB controller. Don't try to play any racing game with a mouse and keyboard or you will have a bad time.

    The difficulty curve can be a bit steep at times. Most of my friends and I, who have many years of racing game experience, were able to beat the entire Easy GP difficulty on day 1, first place by miles on every track. But when you jump up to the Medium difficulty, suddenly the AI's get a brain and start actually using the items. You'll really have to be an aggressive driver and use as many stunts and drift-turbos as you can if you want to beat the higher difficulties. But I always love a challenge. I would highly reccomend this game for anyone looking for a good racing game on PC that takes a step away from "realistic" racers.    … Expand

    There is quite a learning curve to this game, but It's challenging, beautiful, and downright fun! Plenty of unlockable content, a cameo in Breaking Bad, all of your old sega favorites... this game is a cart racer of the highest calibur.

The have a few Sonic characters, but this is a SEGA game, not a Sonic game. Some of the characters are hilariously out of place in the kart racing world (except DanicaSonic and Co.     The gameplay is mostly what you'd expect out of a kart racer, so expect tight kart controls, constant boosts, and projectiles flying everywhere. Compared to Mario Kart, this game seems to be a little less casual-friendly. If you're doing poorly, you'll never pick up a bullet or lightning that could rocket you into first place. There are some more helpful power-ups you'll get if you're behind, but if you start poorly, you'll never catch up. This is also due to the fact that this game offers many more projectile power-ups, and if you're neck-and-neck with a few other racers, you'll spend the remainder of the race blasting each other to bits. I did enjoy the land, sea, and air vehicle sections reminiscent of Diddy Kong Racing.

    Once I mapped the controller to Mario Kart controls, they worked pretty well for me. New players should probably pick characters with good handling. The sounds in this game are annoying, even more so than Mario Kart. The graphics work well enough for a kart racer. I should mention that this is a console port, and SEGA tends to make pretty bad ports in my experience (this game isn't an exception).

    This is about as close to Mario Kart as you're going to get on PC. Fans of kart racing games might enjoy the slightly different gameplay of SEGA and Someone Racing Whatever, but if you have access to a console that plays Mario Kart, you'll want to prioritize Mario Kart before SEGA Racing. Still, this is a decent game to break out with local players if you have a few controllers to share.

    Update: After playing some local multiplayer, there's definitely one more thing that has to be addressed: the fact that nearly any of the game modes can be played multiplayer. That adds a lot of value to this game. Several friends and I have been playing through the story mode to unlock things, and having more players really helps in some of the races, since you win if -any- of you fulfill the win condition. It's not perfect, especially because certain race types become much harder with the addition of more players, but thanks to this feature, this game becomes one of the best local multiplayer games on Steam (as long as you have some Xbox controllers to pass out). While I still prefer the racing mechanics of Mario Kart, being able to play more game types is a huge bonus, and a big reason to choose this game when friends are over.    … Expand

    Where Mario kart games single-player will gladly leave you the first place in any race on any difficulty setting and make sure the closest opponent stays a mile away from you, SASRT's AI will rather hunt you down and take you out like there's a billion dollars bounty on your head

    And don't get me wrong, I love Mario kart, especially Double Dash on gamecube. But Sega's SASRT is just so good it makes Mario Kart games looks like they're the SASRT clones.    … Expand

It actually beats Mario Kart in every aspect thanks to it's diversity, freshness and style. The artwork quality is outstanding compared to other arcade PC games and I run at a constant 60fps on a low-midrange card with everything maxed out; it's that well optimized. The gameplay is fast, responsive and the tracks are very diversified. The levels are all themes of different Sega games in history from Sega Master System up to Dreamcast along with some brilliant remastered music. The world tour mode will encourage you in many different competition to unlock every characters and the multiplayer online, or offline up to 4, will keep you playing this little arcade gem for a while.. and come back to it from time to time because there is nothing else like it on PC.     A pretty solid racing game. It's a lot more like Diddy Kong Racing than it is Mario Kart. It's really fun and tense, with extremely huge and colorful race tracks. From Sonic, to House of the Dead, to Burning Rangers, a lot of the levels are just extremely creative and fun to drive through. There are tons of mini-game missions as well, including versus mode and all those fun things.

I see some comments criticising the difficulty :D Well yes, even I at the beginning had problems and thought that it is too difficult, but this is actually the way the game teaches you to do air flips and drifts... Without those, you would not get to the end.. All in all, great graphics, great music, lots of vehicle choices (even though more is always welcomeI find this game really fun!     This game is fantastically solid. The most surprising thing is that this game is arguably better than any Mario Kart in the last 10 years.

    Gameplay is tight, quick, and FAST. You will be required to master drifting, tricks, item usage/aim and even dodging the items yourself! (YES, no more blue shells!) No more will you be punished for being in first.

    There are 20+ tracks, and they all change from lap-to-lap. You'll be going over a bridge on lap 1 that will be a broken bridge that you turn into a plane off of to continue the race! The soundtrack for the game is pretty damn good, and compliments the AWESOMELY FAST gameplay very well. Not every track is awesome, but some of them are just TOO GOOD to not enjoy. Barring that menu theme. I am so sick of this menu theme.

    I'm a big fan of throwing my PC onto my TV when my friends come over for some gaming. I am very happy that this game has solid split-screen action. I had 60 fps with two players on S Rank with no problems. Very nice. It did chug down to about 45 fps with 3 people though. Then again, playing with three people split-screen is horrendous these days anyway.

    The game does have a few issues I'd like to point out.

    So, when you mess up and fall off the track, it's normal to be put back on the track seconds later, obviously. Probably not at top speed anymore either. I've had this happen to me a few times when it shouldn't have. Usually you'll be in the plane, and fly off in a direction that the game didn't want you to. Sometimes it'll even put you back on the track at an angle on the ground or something. It has lost me races in the past, and I hate it.

    Definitely a game that requires a controller. So, be ready for that. I wouldn't play a racing game without one anyway, but I hear some do.

    The voice acting for just about each and every character is just wrong. This is probably what got to me most, since you hear them all the time. They obviously didn't get any of the original voice actors for any of the characters. Or at least the most of the characters. It's pretty glaring and obnoxious, but it's tolerable at least.

    Luckily, these issues still don't detract just from how much love there is in this game. Definitely not perfect, but the best kart racer on the pc as far as I can tell. If you are even considering buying this game, get it. It's worth it.    … Expand

I have played many games where some graphics look outstanding, but then you have those low quality textures and meshes for all of the objects that are in the background. It subtracts from the game in a major way in my opinion. The audio design for this game is deserving of an "A" grade as well. There aren't any sounds that don't seem to belong in the game, there is no clipping, or sound clips drowning out others. Now that I have covered the typical graphics and audio aspects lets move on to game play.

    The game play controls are so simple that you could pick up the game and just play. This is a great thing seeing as some games just have to many things to do. As for the other aspects of game play I felt this game really delivered. Whether you are flying a plane or driving a car or boat the game holds it's fun and entertainment.

    Now for content. The game has 21 different tracks, which in my opinion is awesome, but it still doesn't compare to Nintendo releasing around 20 new tracks, and twenty old ones in every Mario Kart Game. This means that in every Mario Kart game there are roughly 40 tracks. I also felt that the amount of variation between characters was not optimized, as well as the console mods. The mods could have had much more of an effect in the game. I understand that things must remain balanced, but some of the mods don't really make the character play the way you would think they should. I also felt like there was a lack of characters. Not in the sense of quantity, but in the sense of variety. Obviously Sega wants to include Sonic & Friends, but I felt that Sega shouldn't have had three characters from one game series, and left it at that. Sega has released many other games besides Sonic the Hedgehog, Jet Set Radio, and Space Channel 5. In fact I would have loved to see them bring back more characters from games that came out around the same time that Golden Axe and Shinobi did such as: Phantasy Star, Kid Chameleon, Shinning Force, Vectorman, and maybe even Comix Zone. All of these would have made awesome additions to the game.

    All-in-all though the game is still superb. I know I may have made it seem like the characters and where a huge deal to me, but they aren't enough to sway me below a 9 out of 10. This game is till truly fantastic.    … Expand

    The game has a very high difficulty curve, which is good for single play, however it makes the game less appealing to a casual generic audience, so it doesnt go down as well at partys as games like Mario Kart do.

    The other downfall is the controls while driving the boats, there are times when the controls just feel sluggish, and couple that with areas in the map where your boat gets caught on foliage, or stopped in it;s tracks and stuck behind a pointless wall, and it can be frustrating.

    Other than those 2 things the game is darn near perfect, as long as you are up to overcoming the high difficulty curve! (It took me about 30 trys to beat the second world tour level, but once I beat it I was over the difficulty curve, and the rest of the game became enjoyable).

    A very good kart racing game... almost too good, for the casual player. Races are not easy at all and AI enemies are often very though to beat. Multiplayer experience is crippled by a rating system that penalizes players because of server faults (the game disconnect and I get a -100 penalty? That's a nonsense).

Working through Career modes makes it fun to unlock all the characters, but you'll need to play through all the races on at least medium difficulty to beat the game.

    Obviously the powerups leave lots of the race results up to chance, but the game definitely still rewards skill. With the three different vehicle modes each character has comes a different style of handling. Driving is by far the easiest and has the tightest controls. Boating is slightly harder because the handling becomes much more floaty. Flying is the hardest, adding in the management of the z-axis.

    The core game can be learned in just a few minutes and is absolutely perfect for casual LAN parties, or people like me who just need a break from "sooper srs gaming."    … Expand

    I made a metacritic account just to review this game. I honestly believe it deserves a 10 for the pc version of the game. The pc really has nothing that I know of that compares to this. I have played kart games on consoles but I still consider this the best kart game i've played on any platform. The choices for games that have couch co op on the pc are pretty slim.     Rant aside the actual game is amazing. I can't remember the last time I smiled and laughed so much playing a game. It is a nice break from the mainstream genres. The game is really meant to be played locally with a friend or friends (up to 4 local players). I would also like to thank Sega for bringing this game to the PC as another reviewer had done. Sega hasn't had too many games I regarded highly but this game has changed my opinion of the company and I will be keeping an eye out for their future games.

    The crisp clean menus
    The varied, well animated characters
    The reactions of drivers to the environment with comments, gestures and dancing on/in the vehicles
    Tracks that kept the game fresh through multiple routes lots of things going on in the background and on the track itself
    The narration, such a classic nostalgia bubbling voice from my early gaming years
    The visual were great with as mention lots going on but also they really gave the game an arcade feel that really is never captured to this level on any other title i've played on the pc. I really enjoy the art direction of the game.    … Expand

Yes, it might a rip off from som Mario kart games, but it still is an amazing and very unique.I am having hard time to say anything bad about this game. Parts of road might cave in, a flying ship might suddenly make its way into your path, or surfaces might explode, forcing you to take new paths and keeping each track fresh and fun. The powerups are similar to Mario Kart. The koopa shell is a "drone", a little remote controlled robot that targets a player and finds its way to its target. One thing I really appreciated is there isn't really a "Blue Shell" equivalent that finds the leader and gives you virtually no chance of escape. Instead it's a swarm of giant wasps that fly in front of the leader and stand in his way, forcing the leader to try and dodge the entire swarm as he weaves in and out of them. This is great because the leader is still challenged by an obstacle, but it's one that he can overcome versus a heat-seeking missile that can't be dodged like in Mario Kart.… Expand

The AI is challenging and will make you practice a lot to beat everything the career mode offers on harder levels (A class or S class). My girlfriend and her littler brother plays it on medium or easy and that doesnt kill the fun at all, because ur opponets doesnt act like dumbs. The cars have very different handling, which i think is very nice and adds a lot of replay values into it. Tracks are amazing and the mix of terrains (as the game suggests, ur car is transformed into a boat or an airplane) adds a lot to the game and differs it even more from Mario Kart. Even the laps changes in a lot os tracks, so the first one is totally different from the final lap. The sense of speed is very nice either. The powerups are nice to use. The online multiplayer is very well done and theres almost no lag at all and i didnt find any hackers till now. There are a lot of characters to choose with different driving mods (unlockable as you play with the respective characters). The sound (musics and effects) doesnt lack in anything IMO and plays just fine within the hole game. What else can i say? Theres a lot more, but do yourself a favor and buy it! Worths every cent! Its been a while since i had so much fun with a racing game. One of my favourite games nowadays and i believe ill keep playing it for a very long time.… Expand

    Graphics

    Modernized graphics for classic SEGA games such as Burning Rangers and Panzer Dragoon. The visuals in this game are stunning when you play on the highest settings, and even with a modest computer you'll still get 60+FPS making this game feel amazingly fast and fluid. All the characters are well modeled and textured, and the levels are teeming with beautiful colors and lighting. Each level has been lovingly crafted from older SEGA titles and re-imagined in ways that will bring a tear to long-time fans.

    Sound

    The music in the game mostly consists of remixed themes from older games in a mostly drum'n bass genre, with the odd dubstep-ish song thrown in here and there. But don't let that fool you, the dubstep is done in moderation and actually sounds good, even to someone who doesn't really like that genre. Each song feels fast-paced and full of action to make the gameplay that much more satisfying.

    Gameplay

    Now on the the most important part, gameplay. As you may have guessed, there are 3 modes of driving, air, water, and land. Land plays exactly as you think it would, very much like Mario kart, but a bit faster and the cars feel heavier. Boating/water travel feels like slippery land travel, and is the hardest to steer on because of it. This is mostly noted in the Burning Rangers level, which is mostly boating with sharp turns in which you tend to go bumping a lot. Air travel is, well, air travel. You can still drift in the air, but you have to worry about your X axis as well, which tends to make it more difficult. You can also do stunts in the air as any vehicle, which will give you a boost if done correctly. Of course if you crash mid-stunt you're gonna go slower.

    The items/weapons in the game are well thought out and even if you get smashed by every single weapon, if you're a good enough player you can still get first place. No blue shells here. Although you may want to watch out for the bees.

    Value for the cost

    At $30 you will get way more than your money's worth. Tons of missions and unlockables, GPs to go through, stickers to unlock for doing certain things and of course, multiplayer. The multiplayer is really what will keep bringing you back to this. Online works well for the most part, and racing with up to 10 random people or friends is an absolute delight. Voice chat is included as well, and at the time of writing this there is no way to currently turn that off, but there is a patch on the way which will fix it.

    Final verdict

    A game well worth the money that will keep you entertained for many a month. If you've ever been a fan of racing or kart racing in general you'd be doing yourself a great disservice to not give this a try.    … Expand

But then there was February the first, I bought the game through steam, at a little discount, but still felt i was ripping Sega of, because i truly love this game Its awesome (I do have to say i owned the Master System through to the 32X, so you know, there's a little bit of nostalgic reasons here) I like every aspect of the game, it runs incredibly smooth on my system, the frame rate is buttery smooth, (I just had to use this saying once) the graphics sharp and crisp, (turn blur off) the sound great, music really fitting and uplifting. Games like this make me truly happy, and thankful for the fact i can still play games like this. I really laugh and smile allot when playing this game, but once i putt down my controller, my grumpy face sacks back, and my depressions kick back in again :D Times are hard... I Really would like to say to the Pc community, please buy this game If you like race and or kart games, it's brilliant I know there's allot of pirating in the Pc community, i did it allot my self, and probably will do it again, if they lock the next generation up as they are planning. Well... All and all this game rocks, it's recommended to play this game on your tv, with a controller tough, if you have the possibility to do so. I have a 120hz full hd syncmaster, but play the game on my 720p tv at 60fps, on my attic. Gonna play some more now. Game on And once more, Thanks Sega You gave me fond child hood memories. O yeah... one more thing, it's the name of the game... The only downfall to the PC version of the game is the confusing controls. When you first play, the controls are in odd positions and you need to go into Steam Settings to configure them.     1st All Star Moves, in the 1st game each ASM was unique and presented a real threat for everyone including the 1st place player because they were completely devastating and game breaking (no wonder why they were All Star Moves) while in this one....uhm....cant really tell if there's any difference at all between every character ASM's....the only ones that look really different are Nights and Reala's moves, that was kind of demotivating for me, they dont look or feel that menacing as before, you can be at 1st place, see that someone gets the All Star and not even feel it
    2 The Announcer, in the first game, the Announcer was quite a crazy guy with a really catchy voice who always was informing with precision what was happening with the other racers, specially when triggering the ASM's and sometimes could make you laugh a little bit (sometimes it made me think of Micky Cantor from Monday Night Combat), in this game the announcer feels pretty insipid and with a huge lack of energy compared to the first one and barely talks, that was, once again, in my opinion, kind of a let down 3 Minor detail but still worth mentioning, the attention to details in Items, i feel that this game lacked a more remarkable variety of items and icons during ASMs in the first one each time you grabbed one you could see an icon of something related to what will trigger the All Star, in this one you only get to see a Star with EVERY character, its not much of a big deal but its still marks a bit of lack of attention to details

    But well, all things considered, i cant say that i havent enjoyed the game, its really good and can give you plenty of hours of fun :D i can highly recommend it, if you are a PC Gamer, Sonic Fan and Racing fan, there's no way you can miss this one    … Expand

The main strengths of this game are the amazing track designs and the surprisingly awesome soundtrack (I say surprising because Sega soundtracks tend to suck IMHO) with plenty of imaginative and modernised takes on classic soundtracks. The water play isn't great but luckily it isn't used as often as the fantastic air and land sections.… Expand

    amazing gaem beutifulhl tracsk and so many charactir 25 i think. this is a ame that is taking largte steps in front of the first game. the gameplay is lot of fun. and team fortress and shogun and gfootball manager look good in this game

    Beatyfull tracks, awesome music, a lot of fun from gameplay. 26 charachters. Team fortress, football manager and shogun lookin good in this game. Large step forward from original game.

    Amazingly beautiful tracks where you race, swim and fly, sometimes changing the level as you progress through it, are what makes this game great.
