Dec 7, 2022Quite enjoyed this game until the hitting shark game, the controls are just not made for something like that, and it wasn't fun, so I quit.

Dec 2, 2022Is there even a game here beyond all the boring world quests? Sadly, the soccer itself is awful and devoid of any fun. Thankfully, there's very little of it. This game is almost entirely a collection of dumb, repetitive side quests with no payoff.

Dec 16, 2022The idea of a sports RPG can be hard, but with time and consistency, it can make results. Soccer Story is interesting. While it has some good things, the gameplay seems thin, making it a result that needs more time to be a good one. It's not bad, but it's not for everyone.

Dec 6, 2022At the beginning of this review, I was trying not to compare this game to Dodgeball Academia. It takes a long time to develop an indie game, and I have little evidence that the two have anything to do with each other. But it’s hard not to look at these two games next to each other and see that the things I really adored about one are mostly absent from the other. There’s definitely an enjoyable experience to be had with Soccer Story, but you’ll need to have a high tolerance for jank to find enjoyment in it.

Dec 5, 2022Soccer Story provides some enjoyable basic entertainment that comes from just kicking the ball around and taking on the challenges and targets as players explore. Some of the puzzles and challenges are good fun and satisfying to complete, but there are also many that are made more frustrating than they need to be. With a flawed match system that becomes trivial once its workings have been figured out and technical issues that stack up as the game progresses, it’s incredibly tough to recommend.

Dec 1, 2022Soccer Story is a good mix of soccer matches and adventure elements, with a world packed with side activities and cute details. It takes a little while to get used to the quick, tackle-driven matches. Playing an upgraded team against a solid computer opponent is both challenging and fun. This football-powered universe might not make a ton of sense but it is interesting to explore. It would work better with a smaller number of side activities. Soccer Story offers an exotic approach to the sport and builds a ton of fun mechanics around the simple act of kicking a ball at a target.
