This game was a piece of hot garbage at launch; broken controls, frustrating combat system, far too many bugs. That has completely turned around. It isn't perfect by any stretch, but the combat is now actually quite fun, the game feels much more balanced (you don't have to grind out battles against lesser enemies); the whole thing feels almost completely re-designed. Luckily the Castlevania aesthetic and metal soundtrack are still in tact. If this looked cool to you prior to the horrific (but well deserved) reviews, give it another chance. Expand

This should be the textbook game about great graphics and music and animations
**** keep crying about it being hard.
Awesome graphics - the game doesn't try to look old - it uses pixel graphics, and in a
    great way. Music rocks.

    Pros.:
    - Simple metroidvania-like (platformer actually).
    - Some metal elements.

    Cons.:
    - Everything else. Including game mechanics.

It seems the first version of this game was awful, i don't know, but that the which one i'm playing at the moment is awsome. A very fun classic 2D arcade platformer. I'm really looking forward to a 2nd part or another game like this.

PROS: responsive and smooth controls + varied game + different kind of fighting (different swords and magic, both max powered option) + challenging game +

CONS: sometimes it can be very difficult but if you insist, you're patient and think about the combination of sword and magic (and their max powered) you'll finally beat

8.1 - Very cool art style and level design, on top of good difficulty. Although I was wishing that there could be more to the combat system and possibly some more abilities for your character, overall a really good platformer.

Good game. Artstyle, music and atmosphere are a big plus. It isn't that hard tbh yeah there are a few parts but since it's overall very reminicent of the snes/genesis days i think it's part of the apeal. Minor nitpick: the weapons aren't all that different and the combat could be better but is fine with me. I enjoy it

Its fine. Like nothing special but its cool. Theres metal, heabanging and all that but the combat gets very repetitive and thers not much variety. Still a good game with great challenge.

A beautifully difficult heavy metal nod to 80s platforming.

After a bumpy start, I started to have a lot of fun with Slain. Once you get into a groove, it's hard for anything to stop you. Generous amounts of metal, blood, and headbanging give this game a unique feel, one that is hard to give up. Slain: Back From Hell is well worth a try.

Slain: Back form Hell is the game that has should been since the beginning. It is a great tribute to the gothic and heavy metal culture, and a very challenging game.
