In the end I simply gave up and cut my losses while near the end of Act 3. The game centres around this time loop mechanic that, while it produced an interesting narrative, just didn’t work in many ways for me. For instance the game champions it’s “dire consequences” based on your choices but many times unless you pick exactly the choices the game wants then you can’t progress and will repeat the same loop over and over. Other times the choices you make during conversations don’t matter at all. These aren’t dire consequences but felt more like a kinetic novel that was trying to pretend it wasn’t one. One time you are given a JRPG style fight scene but unless you pick “run” then you will repeat the loop over and over. In another choice where you can choose to vandalize property or not your character refuses to take part regardless. Another time where you have the option to kiss someone or not to your character refuses them regardless. Why give me any other options then if you’re going to do the same thing anyway ? Even if you’re progressing through the loops properly you still have to endure either reading the dialogue many times or using the skip option. I was liking learning about the various characters and back story but it was just becoming a chore to play through and game’s are supposed to be fun at the end of the day. The art and music were pretty good although the music was a bit repetitive with many moments of silence. I will say that the epilogue was absolutely fantastic and had the rest of the game been like that then I would have enjoyed it more. It wasn’t just because that is where a lot of the story gets revealed but it had more choices and less time loop mechanics and even the ones it did have weren’t really annoying. Overall I really liked the characters and dialogue the deeper I got into the game.
I played Siren’s Call on Linux. It never crashed and I didn’t notice any spelling errors. You can save whenever you want when in conversations but you can’t save when at the map or certain choice screens. I have no idea why this was. There were thirty six save slots. The game also wiped my save slots after each act, I’m not sure if this was a bug or not. If not I have no idea how this could be considered a good idea. The RAM usage got to be higher than almost any other visual novel I have played but the art and animations didn’t really justify it in my eyes. I have tons of RAM so it wasn’t a performance issue but it’s still weird.
Disk Space Used: 1.05 GB
CPU Usage: 14-42 %

Even though Siren’s Call is free I can’t recommend it. Maybe it just wasn’t for me but I took issue with a lot of the core game play and story mechanics. The epilogue was highly enjoyable but the journey there wasn’t very fun for me. I managed to finish the game in eight hours and forty six minutes.
