Sin Slayer is an RPG with roguelike elements set in a dark fantasy world where you as the player's decisions will determine how challenging the game becomes. This is a JRPG-style turn-based with text style dialogue. The game sets in a place called the Valley of Fallen Sinners. Your goal is the heroes must to defeat your foes and discovering and destroying the seven seals of the Portal of the Worlds. By completing this task, you will open gates of the portals allowing all the tormented souls to escape their prison. So the legends say.
The church is your headquarters and where you'll have the ability to craft items and level up your crew. Once you select the heroes and accepted your quest. It's time to enter the world. No playthrough is the same and the maps are randomly generated. The layout of the game feels as if I'm playing on a large board game with spaces greyed out preventing the player from planning their move. Once you walk on top of a greyed out space, it'll reveal what it has to offer. You have a chance of running into either some monsters, alters, chests, traps, and sometimes side quests. Sins of Slayer has a sin mechanic and almost everything you do will either gain or lose sin. The more sin you obtain, the harder the game becomes. Keep that in mind if you decide on looting a corpse or tamper with a grave. Even consuming food to heal your team gives you sin. I learned that the hard way and was owned. Since can be removed from finding alters to pray or abandoning shady choices.
The combat system is pretty simple and each character and creature have their strengths and weaknesses. You gain rage for you to be able to use different abilities in combat. Theirs a bit of a strategy and a learning curve. Leveling your characters takes a minute. Not that big of a deal if you are ok with grinding for experience. Combat will feel very repetitive and at times feels like it drags. Once you figure out the quirks of combat, it's smooth sailing.
Pros: The game allows you to determine how much of a challenge you are willing to do based on how much sin you've obtained. The leveling system is simple as well as the combat system. I enjoyed the dark gritty feel of the graphics.
Cons: It can be very slow-paced. I don't enjoy getting sin stacked on me for consuming food to heal my hero. Some of the battle music feels like it's out of place but that's just nitpicking.

Overall Sin Slayers a good game even with its sin mechanic. Once you get to know the mechanics and how everything works can become an enjoyable game. Everything about this game feels like an old school style RPG. I recommend giving this game a chance if you're into old-style RPGs.… Expand
