    This is the best Civilization yet and feels like it has already has a major expansion. It took everything good from IV and V and combined them with some new stuff like districts and honestly a gorgeous art style. I've played them all and this one is the best and will continue to add and improve for years!

    Really, why all this bashing on Civilization VI? Does any of you played Civ V without expansions and DLC? In its initial release? It was one of the worst Civilization to date and most of the people were saying how they preferred Civ IV (With all expansions again) than Civ V (Without Expansions)... it was justified cause Civ V was just a skeleton of a game in it's release (No Religion?!).Really, why all this bashing on Civilization VI? Does any of you played Civ V without expansions and DLC? In its initial release? It was one of the worst Civilization to date and most of the people were saying how they preferred Civ IV (With all expansions again) than Civ V (Without Expansions)... it was justified cause Civ V was just a skeleton of a game in it's release (No Religion?!). Although the new skeleton (no stacks of Doom) was better and so it grow to be better than it's predecessors.
    Now it's the same for VI...though it's not justified. Cause it's the best initial release of civilization until now! It's the first one that not only revolutionize like V (Unstacking Cities) but also having almost every feature of it's predecessors(with expansion) without expansions!
    So please be mature and stop talking about the unit graphics and clash of clans and see the essence of this game which is much more strategic and full in its release. It has the best skeleton to build upon.
    Also except units, which for the first time have different looks in different civilizations (without mods), the map and cities are gorgeous and much, much better than Civ V with it's chaotic and ugly architecture of super, one ultimate type cities and labyrinth of roads, simplistic wonders in wrong place (pyramids inside a frozen lake! :P ), with useless worker in every hex.

    P.S. If you learn to play with unstacked cities you can never go back to the old mess. Same as when we learnt to play with unstacked units we couldn't go back.

    Familiar enough to be comfortable but different than any previous version. I have been playing for 25 years now and I have purchased each major civ version. After 10 hours I am really enjoying it. I am having constant "battles" with my apostles vs the other religions. The graphics are gorgeous. I do sometimes find it difficult to find my sleeping units and when my religious units move around.

    Civ 6 introduces new gameplay that keeps the franchise fresh. Districts, builders, a religious victory. It has been fun exploring this new game and learning its nuances. I look forward to new civs being added and the possibility of a diplomatic victory in future dlc and expansions.

    It can be hard to not let go of Civ V, but once you do there's so much to love. Great new addition to the series. Theological warfare, less uneventful turns, the addition of multi-tile cities (although I believe Endless Legend does this better), linking units together, diplomacy made more interesting (although it's no longer a victory condition)... Great music, great artstyle that gives meIt can be hard to not let go of Civ V, but once you do there's so much to love. Great new addition to the series.     Having logged over 2,000 hours playing Civ V http://steamcommunity.com/id/ZenFury/ I'm enjoying Civ VI and it's changes!

    I was very sceptical after how Civ V started off at release as well as Beyond Earth. However I've been pleasantly surprised at how polished Civ VI is right off the bat. Imagine how it will evolve with Mods, Patches, and Expansions! PROS * Fun and new ideas *

    It could be a hell of a scenario.

    It is my current (first) playthrough of Civilization VI.

    How do you build a Civilization in Civ VI? The Settlers remain as they always were. The “Builders” (replacing the “Workers”) finally rid us of endless turns of waiting, finishing every job in a single turn. Alas, you can use a Builder ONLY THREE TIMES (later, with certain perks, more). However, over 50% of the work that the Workers used to do, is now a matter of city production. Enter DISTRICTS, Civ VI’s biggest step forward. Everything a civilization does – pursuing science, creating Great Works, generating a robust economy or building a mighty army, establishing a potent religion or appeasing your population with Amenities – has to do with Districts you construct for your cities. This is a very time-consuming endeavor, one that calls upon you to make wise choices, for a city’s tiles are NOT infinite, and those Districts are going to be there FOREVER, as will the stunning Wonders that you produce!

    Scientific advancement remains as important as ever. Civilization VI divides the Tech Tree in TWO fields of knowledge, which evolve concurrently, Science (no-brainer) and Civics i.e. perks that you choose (from a set of Policy Cards) to form and re-form your Government. Geography is more important than ever. Access to resources and terrain will be the make-or-break element in building Wonders and Districts, creating units, even BOOSTING scientific discoveries. The quests from City States help on that front too.

    You gain City State benefits by sending Envoys; if you send more Envoys than any other Civilization, you become their Suzerain, and aside from Gold, Faith, Culture, they become your allies. And since City States are so useful when they are on their own, be kind to them and let them deal with Barbarians only, not your armies.

    This time, Barbarians are SMART: they send Scouts to your cities. If those Scouts get a peek, they report back and soon you have many more Barbarians attacking AND trying to kidnap your civilian units! So, KILL those pesky Scouts the moment they appear! Thankfully, you can now BIND civilian and military units, essentially providing protection to SettlersBuilders, Religious units and those infinitely precious Great People.

    A robust Culture is your way of claiming Great People, in the process creating Great Works (housed in appropriate Districts!) to win the Cultural Victory, but also strengthen your civilization, by e.g. providing a window for additional policies or boosting your scientific advancement. Alternatively, you can FORCE Great People to be yours, with Gold or Faith. Yes, Faith is THAT powerful in Civ VI. Each civilization can get one Great Prophet and start either a Religion with predetermined tenets and symbols, or make an entirely new Religion from scratch. (I chose the Starry Turtle and founded the “Children of the Great A’Tuin”!)

    To spread your religion, you will build Missionaries, Apostles to (also) gain new tenets and engage in Theological Combat, and Inquisitors to “cleanse heresy” from your lands. But remember: defeating a Civilization that founded a Religion DOES NOT wipe out religious followers! They can continue to exist and flourish. And YOU can accidentally commit Religious Suicide if you are not careful WHERE you build your Inquisitors!

    As Leaders go, the AI in Civilization VI seems to be less random than in previous iterations. An example: early in the game, I met Scythia. Their Queen was proud and dismissive. But the moment I acquired a much more powerful military than her, she messaged me to let me know how she admires my forces. Then I got greedy and attacked a friendly City State. Since she HATES backstabbing, she hated me, and then Denounced me. But STILL, dozens of turns later, she was NOT as stupid as to declare war on me.

    With the lovely advent of Corps and Armies (comprised of two and three Units respectively) I expect I will at some point see colorful stuff, like Siege engines accompanying Tanks or some other unreal weirdness. But I LIKE weird; after all Civilization IS all about weird, alternate History.

    And this is where I stop. There are plenty of things left for you to discover. If I can say ONE thing that some people might choose to perceive as negative, is that the game CONSTANTLY FORCES YOU ON YOUR TOES. EVERY turn is potentially important. THIS, I see as Civilization VI’s greatest victory.

    Have been playing Civilization since Civ2 and Civ6 is everything you could want from the series. Its coming of age incorporates the best ideas and advancements from previous games and is a recommended purchase for any 4X player.

    This game Is honestly beautiful, at first I was a bit worried about how the new cartoonish style would flow in the game. Honestly it grows on you quite quickly and it fits the game well, for a launch i would say this lives up to its predecessors, we already see a lot of features and there is a lot to do in this game without spoiling too much.     I would say this game is a 9 out of 10 at current state, 1 point off due to incompetent AIs, but it is surely a step in the right direction in almost any other aspects, adding more depth and more planning to an already successful formula. Firaxis has done a wonderful job and deserves our praise.

    The civ series never was for kids so these low user scores are from kids , if you are a civ fan and give this game below 7 your not a civ fan ,i really enjoy civ 6 and i like the graphic it reminds me civ3 some people like real graphic but i like this kind of graphic for a civ game and i should say again if you are a kid dont play civ gane and keep your score for yourself..

    First Civ game since Civ 3 that's ready to play right out of the box. No need to wait for expansions or mods on this one. Only played 2 games, and while some of the mechanics and strategies are different--it's pure Civ through and through. Looking forward to digging into this one--deeply. Oh yeah--it has Sean Bean narrating it. What u waiting for? Fly to Steam and buy it you fools!

    Update. After playing a couple of playthroughs. This game in its curent state is definitely not a 10, maybe a 8-9. But comparing to previous iterations it definitely deserves a 10.
    U see there a lot of biased reviews, some people are turned away by its art style, but for this kind of games, graphics should not have such a big impact. Is it badly optimized? Probably, I can't say for sure,

Probably, I can't say for sure, I just updated my videocard, but I can tell for sure Civ5 graphical engine was weak and Extremely badly chosen and yet almost nobody complained.
    Most people say that Civ5 is a much better value now, that Civ6 feels like an alpha. And yes I can confirm, Civ6 needs a lot of tweakings, and yes there are plenty of strange things happening, especially in the AI department but as of game design its miles away from Civ5. In my first 3 playthroughs with Civ5 I had much worse experience with Civ5 AI than with Civ6. So should I say to u better buy Civ5 with its 2 expansion. hell no, if u didn't got it till now, I don't know why u would bother now.
    But if u are afraid of being turned away by some stupid (buged) AI decisions, or some badly done UI, then u should wait. U can see about the reviews that 1 of 5 people are really pissed off.
    Now some details why I consider a big leap in game design this iteration.
    First of all, I consider different victory condition mostly stupid maybe because they are badly designed in its core, but mostly because Civilization is about the voyage not the destination, those should be only achievements. The only good victory condition should be Diplomatic Victory just like Orion1.
    So a 4x game is all about power gain (strategy), and wear down enemy power (tactics).
    Now in Civ5 they did something about tactics, but it was a small leap only, and because of AI not really impactfull.
    We all know that power is all about economics, economics will say how much military, culture or religion can u have. Now what about strategy? Investing in culture or religion power doesn't help u proportionally in gaining more power as military power does. So they exist only for the sole purpose of victory condition but never actually help u to get there. Every time I went on rampage I didn't win domination victory, that's just a stupid waste of time, everytime I won the culture, science, religion victory (in that order). Firaxis should understand that culture and religion should be another way of getting more power, not wasting it just to check a victory condition.
    Long story short, now for the first time in the series they changed the economics, starting from cities, science, and civics. Do they need tweaking? YES. And maybe we will got them in the expansions, or in Civ7, but after 25 years they finally changed something fundamentally. And that's why I gave him a 10.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was full of expectation waiting for this game. I play Civilization since 1, played a lot all of them (my Civ5 in Steam is at 1,160 hours) and since I liked so much Civ5, I was afraid of Civ6. The non-realistic graphics seemed a bad omen. Man, they were turning it into a Tropico look alike! Two days for release and they put out the Battle Royale (a game without a person playing, with only AI civs) and the graphics... well, the resolution wasnt great, but I didnt like it. Then finally the game was out. First thing, I couldnt run it. Only a very helpful review on Steam (cant find it again, I guess was deleted) explaining what to do (remove Visual C 2015 (both 32 and 64bits) and reinstall from game _CommonRedist folder. Then it worked.

    First thing I noticed starting a game was, of course, graphics. Not bad, not bad at all. I guess I was expecting something bad and so it surprised me. You can even turn on sun movement and it changes nicely. The civ leaders figures are kind of funny. Now they all follow a same pattern, and this pattern is toward the comical, which is in synch with the more toy-like graphics. But they could be a bit more diverse. I miss the beautiful Teodora! (:
    Another detail about graphics: the info and everything uses a lot of screen space. Very good for older people (I'm 55)! I guess here and there there could be more info, right click info and so on, but its well done.

    Then the game itself. Its a very interesting change upon Civ5. It changes so much I had to go back a couple of levels to be comfortably ahead of other civs (I'm used to win on Civ5 almost always on King) so much the game changed. You have to learn many new things, its all different. Which is good.

    Districts are great, very interesting idea. Now Civil developments are on a structure like Science, you have to research them. I see pros and cons on this. Before we could go for what was more of our interest, now you kind of have to research all of them. But this can also be good, you get all of them (:

    Diplomacy is more interesting, some options more. City-states are a bit different, now you get them by sending Envoys instead of buying them with money. I guess they could have left also the money as alternative, would be more realistic.

    The one thing I'm missing are the workers! Now we have Builders, and they can just build a small number of improvements then they vanish. Also, you dont have to build roads, they appear by themselves when Traders move between cities. I miss the roads we build. We could build them for moving troops, not depending on commerce. Again here, we could have both ways, it would be more interesting.

    But all in all, its a very interesting game (played only 11 hours on the first day! (: ), well polished and balanced. Cant wait to see the MODs and DLCs that will come around!

    After having played Civ V and Beyond Earth throughout their release cycles, I can honestly say that this game is vastly more promising than either of them. While Beyond Earth never achieved a sense of being complete, it was still a good game once expanded. Civilization V ended up being an absolutely incredible work by the time of it's completion.     Much better than expected for a vanilla release in

    A lot of the systems are more robust and complex, the mid-game is not boring, and the overall feel and pace of the game is good, not to mention retaining the one more turn compulsion.

    And at the very least, it is not a step back from BNW.

    This might just become the best Civ game yet once there have been some updates and expansions. The game is very impressive so far. Not yet encountered any bugs or glitches. The UI is nice and clean and the visuals are great. The only con I see so far is that the mini map is not exactly clear.     The best civilization game to date. Played 2 games, lost both. But worth it. It is still the civilization that I love yet new features make everything more manageable and detailed.

    Everything that I wanted that CIV V could not deliver.
    Finally you have the feeling again of creating a civilization, not just 4 cities. The AI could need some love from the developers, but it is definitely capable of providing a challenge.

    Fantastic game ... been a Civ fan since the nineties and this is the best yet. Annoying barbarians, slowish road and general unit movement aside, this has the most potential pre-DLC than any previous release. Districts, civics, new wonders, graphics, civs, unique units, leaders, etc etc, all awesome. If you are an old timer like me, no brainer but if you are new to the concept ... treatFantastic game ... been a Civ fan since the nineties and this is the best yet.     Beautiful! This sequel is far much different with Civilization V! I need more time to adjust this new game style, though. The graphics, music and strategy all those things are so amazing.

    Better than Civ5. Civ6 very successfully merges the advantages of Civ4 and Civ5.
    Graphic design is Casual (well..someone doesn't like it) and Gameplay is pretty well-structured.

    The groundwork has been set for an incredible CIV cycle over the next half a decade or so. I am looking forward to following the stream of patches and expansion which made CIV V such a great game. This year’s release does take a bit of adjusting from the previous iteration, but it’s similar enough to just pick up and play without tutorials.     Civ6 is truly a worthy successor to its predecessors. The gameplay is great, I love the visual style, and I've lost many many hours to playing it. Warning, it is VERY addicting!
