Shadowverse has new interesting gameplay mechanics and can be a good alternative to Hearthstone.

  1. It’s a mess, but it’s a fun mess, like 52 pickup. It’s got the prettiest rectangles I’ve ever done seen, the back and forth of evolving makes every match exciting, and despite its faults Shadowverse can still produce the highs that keep me coming back to card games. My latest match was textbook CCG fun: I managed to barely scrape by in an unfavorable matchup, only to win at one health on the back of a few lucky top-decks on my end and two weak evolutions from my opponent. In that brief moment, I was over the moon about Shadowverse, and sometimes that’s enough.

Cygames has been very generous to all players when it comes to giving out free packs and cards, this is something that other developers and teams usually never do.
But to sum the game up: Shadowverse is a multiplayer online cardgame that was first
released on mobile and pc on asia. It was added to Steam with english version on 28.10.2016.

The game has unique gameplay mechanic called evolve which lets you power up your
minion cards stats permanently (usually its 2+/2+) for exchange of 1 evolve point. If you go first you get 2 evolve points, going second however gives you 3 evolve points, 2 extra cards drawn on your first turn and first evolve of the game. Yes, I know what you are thinking, it seems that going second in the game is extremely unbalanced and I have to say I would agree on that. This is something that many people have criticized during the early days of the game and I hope devs can find some sort of solution to this.

Shadowverse has 7 playable classes. Forestcraft, Swordcraft, Runecraft,
Dragoncraft, Shadowcraft, Bloodcraft and Havencraft. These classes play all different
and each of them have lots of great cards and gimmicks.

If you are looking for a new card game but you are not willing to spend any money, I recommend you give this game a try. Its free so you lose nothing. Word of warning though: If you can't get past the fact that this game has anime styled cards and characters in that case this game might not be for you.

I however give Shadowverse a solid 8/10, because it earns its free-to-play title in every way possible.
Its very entertaining to play and brings new mechanics and style on the table of online cardgames.

Even if you play arena which is draft mode the game is unpleasant to play at best. It uses extremely lengthy play animations that countdown the turn timer, and can not be disabled...then sometimes will randomly lag on top of that. I played about 100 draft games, and lost about 20 for no other reason than timing out as I tried to drop a 3-4 card combo and couldn't complete game winning actions because the animations took stupidly long.
