Beautiful game (graphics, atmosphere, spirit...). We need more games like that because it's a smooth and inspiring. Rarely does a long awaited sequel to one of those things that I love feel "worthy" its name. This one does, however. Every part of what originally appealed to me about Samorost is elaborated on in this game. The visuals are nicer, the music is grander, the story is more epic, and the puzzles are slightly better.

This is actually the first Samorost game that feels like it is meant to be taken seriously. I realize that this could be interpreted as an insult to Amanita Design, but even though I have nothing but love for Samorost 1 & 2, I will be honest about that I always felt as though they were more like a "showcase" of the studios capabilities, and lacked a fully thought through story and pacing. Compared to its predecessors, this game feels -complete-.

Samorost 3 still doesn't strike me as grand of an adventure as Machinarium was though, and this is probably due to the fact that it doesn't have any ambition to describe or develop the personality of its characters. This is the third game I play as the little white Samorost gnome, and I still have no idea who he/she really is. But that's okay. Because this game is clearly NOT about its characters. It is all about the environment, and it does a brilliant job of conveying the feel of that environment in every possible way.

The puzzles range from child level to medium, and I think that's a fairly good level for this particular game to be at. This is because the game is completely driven by my desire to see the next environment, and therefore I do not want to be stuck in the same place for too long.

It seems to me that Amanita Design are still searching for that last piece of the puzzle that will enable them to create a masterpiece, and I believe that piece is dramaturgy. Just like their prior games, the story does not have any highs or lows, and the crescendo at the end is just about to dull to make me go over the edge emotionally. Like I said, this game is all about the environment, so It's okay for the story to flat-line, but in the future I'm hoping to see Amanita Design make a true masterpiece that has that last missing puzzle piece of dramaturgy.

Well worth the short time it takes. I'm sure it will inspire you!

It's a beautiful piece of art, but I'm afraid the art too often treads on the gameplay. There is too much reliance on tedious memory puzzles - the puzzle involving the singing mouse on the monk world is a gameplay disaster - it's too hard to get the note sequence correct, and it takes too long between attempts. Many other puzzles suffer from similar problems. I remember enjoying all the previous games from Amanita more than this one. Expand

While Amanita has always been good for original games, this one is more of a nuisance than a game. Most of the sounds are disgusting, the game mechanics look well done at first, but fail in many details, which then turns an adventure game into a diffuse messing around. This point & click game has an amazing music and visuals with a weak but interesting story. If you liked other games like Machinarium and previous Samorost, don't miss this one, highly recommended.
PROS: music and sounds above all, terrific ambient, puzzles are good, no languages requested to be played, trumpet is a fantastic idea
CONS: sometimes you need to stay near to things to take

Although all puzzles might not be all that logical, they all contribute to the surreal and magic world of Samorost and in creating an amazing visual and musical experience. If you liked Amanita's previous games you'll love this

Amanita designs spirits the player away once again to a world of cosmic shroom trips.

Stunning art, clever puzzles with unique mechanics, and an incredible soundtrack.

This game joins Machinarium as some of the best adventure games to come out since the late 90s. Do yourself a rock solid and buy this game.

Finally a game as good as Machinarium. Great puzzles, awesome visuals and music.

The story is a heartwarming fairytale for both old and young.
If you have kids you can "read" the story to your children as a bedtime-story.

It's easier to get help when in stuck (by solving a puzzle) than in Machinarium.

Touching and with spirit. Strongly recommended to all arthouse fans. Puzzles too easy though and are mostly based on pixel-hunting. I prefer Machinarium in most ways.

Amanita, we love you so much, and it looks so gorgeous, but it's TOO UNINTUITIVE. And by that i mean not "hard" or "challenging", it just tedious this time.

This game is so thoroughly beautiful and a blast to play. Every sound aesthetic, every frame a painting. Though the negative side of it is that the puzzles do not follow a strictly deductive logical formula, so it feels much like old school adventure games, but I guess that is just a part of the journey.

Expand

This game is just awful. Is overly noisy, with sounds made by a 1 year old.
The goals of the puzzles are not clear. You have to randomly click everywhere until you hit something. Even watching the solution you don't know what the point is.
The graphics are the only good thing.

One of the most beautiful games I have ever played. It is very good if you just want to sit for a while a relax. 1 point down, because sometimes I just really did not know what to do and felt a bit lost in its beautiful world.

Samorost 3 is a puzzle point-and-click adventure from a small Czech studio Amanita Design. It was released in 2016. What a heartwarming experience this was for me. Yes, I think unique is the right word. The graphics, the story, the ideas, the little creatures, the amazing sounds. All of just works so well. It is pretty short, it took me one afternoon, but that is not a complaint. I just wish there was more of this. I will definitely give the other games from this studio a try. No microtransaction and no SJW.

What a unique gaming experience, really exceptional. Final Verdict: 84%

I do not mind simplicity as long as there’s something valuable underneath it. Samorost 3 can only offer great visuals and for me that is not enough. [06/2016, p.57]

It’s fairly obvious that a major reason for Samorost 3’s existence is to give its series some recognition as something other than a footnote to the rest of its developer’s work, and in that regard, it roundly succeeds. But after shaking off the “browser game” stigma, it merely continues its business as a temporarily enjoyable diversion.

Samorost 3 is stunningly beautiful, classic point & click adventure game. Well-thought puzzles are the icing on this cake. [May 2016]
