A straight puzzler. Not terribly difficult, I beat it in 3-4 hours. Beautiful, creative environments, generally bland puzzles involving letters, numbers, or combinations therein. Safecracker is an accurate title. Puzzles almost as exciting as an IQ test.

Not bad... Played it though without stopping. Took aprox. 8 hrs. There are a wide variety of logic, numerical, visual and situational puzzles. I rather enjoyed solving them, and had a tangible sense of accomplishment after completing all of them.

This game had me playing it for a while. I'm not usually into puzzle games, for example Myst, but I was determined to beat this one despite the rather 'easy' approach the developers took to a storyline. All in all, this game was fun while it lasted. I wish I could have had a bigger payoff for all of my safecracking at the end, but it was still worth the satisfaction I got This game had me playing it for a while. Safecracker is a good puzzle game if you can actually get it working. On Windows Vista and Windows 7, you must run the game in windowed mode. I also had to set a my screen resolution to 1280 x 1024 before launching the game. Additionally I had to Force Vsync On and set SLI mode to single GPU support. Figuring all of that out was a puzzle in itself so WELL DONE developers!

Game play is your basic point-and-click with mouse look, very similar to Myst style games. There are many different types of safes in the game and each one generally offers a unique experience keeping the game entertaining and fresh throughout. There are a couple easy puzzles, but most of them require some level of thinking to conquer. There are some that may even require consultation of a walkthrough. Puzzle gamers will definitely be rewarded by picking this one up.

"Safecracker: The Ultimate Puzzle Adventure" is certainly not the ultimate puzzle adventure, but it's interesting and it's worth a couple of hours from your time.

  1. As long as you're not too hung up on variety and plot, these breaking-and-entering brainteasers will delight puzzle fans.
  2. But there’s a very specific pleasure also to be found in an adventure game in which the plot is simply a thin tissue that connects a series of delightfully attractive and fun puzzles.
  3. A must-have for puzzle fans and definitely worth a look for anyone who values an intellectual challenge.
