    Sacralith: The Archer's Tale marries expert-level visual polish with a clever and engaging bow shooting extravaganza to make what is clearly approaching AAA territory. The narrative, and characters within it, are also high on visual polish, and thanks to motion capture, are decidedly 'human enough' to be convincing. The level of difficulty is extremely high, making for multiple hours of bow shooting throughout the game's singular campaign.

    Sacralith: The Archer’s Tale is a great blend of archery and tower defense gameplay, utilizing node-based teleportation to keep it friendly for any player. While there are a few hiccups here and there, Odd Meter has given us one of the best VR archery games on the market. The RPG elements keep it fresh, and the wide variety of special arrows offer many gameplay choices. Here’s to hoping we get to see a lot more of the Sacralith world.

    This is easily my favorite VR game. That's saying a lot, since I've played a ton of them. I know this will probably get lost on metacriticThis is easily my favorite VR game. I know this will probably get lost on metacritic since it's apparently the only review, but I wanted to do my "part" to give this team some serious love.

    I don't want to deter people with a lengthy review, so I'll break it down into Pros and Cons, and elaborate on my favorite parts.

    Pros:

    - Excellent graphics - on par with your standard 2015+ 3D games
    - Incredibly accurate hit boxes
    - RPG elements to let you upgrade your bow to new shots
    - Intuitive controls. The ability to slow time, grab a special arrow, and fire away makes you feel like a god
    - Unique concept
    - Humor - it's not overly narrated and the story isn't heavy, but even the intro made me laugh. These guys have a great sense of humor
    - Pacing is perfect. There were a few moments that wore me out but overall the pacing is both intense and exciting without being overbearing
    - So much room for expansion/DLC
    - Small team, but it doesn't show - it feels like an AAA title but onto the cons...

    Cons:

    - It's short. If you have arm stamina, if that's a thing, you might get tired and it feels like it's just long enough, but I rarely get tired and I burned through the whole campaign in one sitting
    - The story is succinct and to the point, but I would *love* more from the characters
    - Some arrows are clearly inferior - for example, the heal arrow is almost mandatory, whereas a handful of other arrows are just fluff and entertainment, not efficiency

    The main things I want to point out that impressed me the most in the Pros list are pretty simple. The hitboxes blew my mind. You can literally shoot between legs. Shields block attacks even if they're just hanging off the NPCs back. It's frustrating at times but also the realism makes you get better at being accurate and it's far more rewarding.

    I absolutely love the team behind this. I would enjoy the hell out of a game by these guys that had a bigger budget and could afford to double the size of the game and story. The ending was epic, and the credits gave me a Neverending story vibe I wasn't expecting; no spoilers.

    The concept is truly unique; tower defense? archery? rpg? story? upgrades? competent allies? Holy crap, what a great concept. Loved every second of it.

    The last thing I'll say is I know VR games are expensive to produce, and I'm guessing the Return on Investment (ROI) is not great. We may never see this team expand on the game or make another in a larger capacity, but if you have some cash to burn and you want a night of awesome gaming (with replayability) in VR pick this up. You won't be disappointed. Fair warning though, it's relatively short, as I said (4 - 6 hours depending on skill) and it's not "easy." Don't get frustrated, git gud and be patience. Sniping 10 enemies in a row is the most rewarding this game gets, and damn it feels good to be an Archer.    … Full Review »
