    I honestly hate a lot of these remasters or remakes because most of the time they fail abysmally. River City Girls is one of those games which on paper sounds like a great idea, remake the old classic River City Ransom but reverse the roles and make it more appealing by adding anime style sequences, the problem is - it suffers from a large array of gameplay issues which can make it moreI honestly hate a lot of these remasters or remakes because most of the time they fail abysmally.     First off, if you are the easily frustrated then don't bother with this game, because it's hard unless you use cheesy tactics and if you don't know those tactics, then the game can be quite brutal especially vs boss fights which require a very tactical approach otherwise you'll die over and over again and playing two player co-op is more or less the way to go. Players who know the original game fully well know this is one of the hardest games, and RCG follows the exact same pattern of high difficulty...again, unless you cheese and then it can become quite easy but then it becomes mundane.

    Controls are pretty terrible, some moves range from being OP to useless. Many boss battles can hit you easily because your character moves quite slowly and running requires a double direction tap which isn't always easy to do.

    The soundtrack is quite good, and has alot of well known voice actors giving life to many of the characters, but unfortunately again - the high difficulty and frustration factor seriously limit this game, and the ending is...well assuming you are willing to play through alot of frustration to reach the end that is.    … Expand

    While being visually stunning, the gameplay might feel a bit clunky and unresposive.
    The music may feel off in some instances but shine with glamour in others.
    It's a very hard to rate game since most of its potential was wasted in the open world which does not make the game any better than any other classic beat'em up affair.     Nice beat 'em up. Very good visuals and OST. Good but not amazing mechanics, somewhat funny story, but nothing special really. If you're missing a good beat me up for several hours - go for it, otherwise skip.

    Игра с потрясающим артстайлом как графики, так и музыки. Все проблемы которой решаются одним модом: UserXpMod. Игра со стёбным закосом под японщину80-х 90-х. Бредовость и отсылочки местного сюжета ни раз и ни два заставят вас улыбнуться. Сложность достаточная для того, чтобы регулярно убивать игрока, но это всегда планка, которую можно преодолеть за несколько попыток. И, конечно же,Игра с потрясающим артстайлом как графики, так и музыки. Все проблемы которой решаются одним модом: UserXpMod. Игра со стёбным закосом под японщину80-х 90-х.     I enjoyed this game. The enemies can feel pretty spongey but I think it controls well. I would argue a good d-pad is a must for this game. I really enjoyed the soundtrack and the art style. not a perfect game but a good couch co-op throwback game.

    I know this game is really good and while I haven't played it, I'm still giving it a 10 to level the playing field since people are giving it zero's just because they can't rebind controls. Get over it guys.

    Wayforward has done an amazing job making another great game! Beautiful animations, fun gameplay, and tons of replayability! A worthy sequel to River City Ransom.

    Una buena idea reivindicativa, que las chicas rescaten por una vez a sus chicos del peligro, se queda en un juego bastante predefinido e insulso en el que muchos enemigos sin importancia aguantan demasiados golpes, ralentizando el ritmo del juego, y en el que los diálogos entre personajes no consiguen crear unos personajes carismáticos al ser insulsos y tontos.

    Además, su corta duración    Una buena idea reivindicativa, que las chicas rescaten por una vez a sus chicos del peligro, se queda en un juego bastante predefinido e insulso en el que muchos enemigos sin importancia aguantan demasiados golpes, ralentizando el ritmo del juego, y en el que los diálogos entre personajes no consiguen crear unos personajes carismáticos al ser insulsos y tontos.

    Además, su corta duración y una dificultad demasiado sencilla solo consiguen que lo haya jugado de rebote gracias al Game Pass y no por méritos propios.    … Expand

    Growing up I was a HUGE fan of RIver City Ransom for the NES. I've missed a few American localizations of other titles in the series, but River CIty Girls was one that I really didn't want to pass by.

    Series mainstays, Kunio and Ricky (Alex and Jack in US titles), have been kidnapped and this time it's up to their girlfriends, Misako and Kyoko, to rescue them. It's a classic beat'em up    Growing up I was a HUGE fan of RIver City Ransom for the NES. I've missed a few American localizations of other titles in the series, but River CIty Girls was one that I really didn't want to pass by.

    Series mainstays, Kunio and Ricky (Alex and Jack in US titles), have been kidnapped and this time it's up to their girlfriends, Misako and Kyoko, to rescue them. It's a classic beat'em up with purchasable items, tons of awesome moves, and a killer soundtrack. There's also plenty of easter eggs and nods to other old games in the genre tossed in for good measure.

    I often found myself grinning at the girls' antics as they pummel their way through several districts of River City in hopes of finding clues about what happened to their beloved boys. Along the way they meet all sorts of quirky characters, bosses, and shop keepers. Misako and Kyoko both play a bit differently, but are balanced, so playing one or the other purely comes down to preference.

    The only downside of the game is the ending. It's a bit unsatisfying and confusing to anyone who's not SUPER into the series as a whole (including games not brought over to the US, something that's only discovered by finding and defeating the game's secret boss.) What IS nice is that you can play a New Game+, adding Kunio and Riki as playable characters.

    If you're a fan of old-school beat'em ups, River City Girls is certainly worth your attention. It looks great, plays great, and has plenty of nostalgia to keep you coming back for more.    … Expand

    Оговорка перед началом, до этого я никогда не играл в игры жанра beet 'em up, но когда я вижу трейлер игры я с большой вероятностью могу сказать что игра мне понравится, и тут я не прогадал тоже.

    Сначала пройдусь по плюсам: +Прекрасный арт и пиксель дизайн и видео ролики боссов, благодоря которым они воспринимаются ещё более атмосферно и интересно. А так же вставки истории в стиле    Оговорка перед началом, до этого я никогда не играл в игры жанра beet 'em up, но когда я вижу трейлер игры я с большой вероятностью могу сказать что игра мне понравится, и тут я не прогадал тоже.

    Сначала пройдусь по плюсам:
    +Прекрасный арт и пиксель дизайн и видео ролики боссов, благодоря которым они воспринимаются ещё более атмосферно и интересно. А так же вставки истории в стиле манги которые раскрывают персонажей, жалко только что нету субтитров у неё, для кого то это будет крайне неудобно.
    +Запоминающиеся персонажи, как и первостепенные, по типу боссов и главных героев, так и второстепенные которые будут давать квесты по ходу игры или с которыми надо будет просто поговорить что бы пройти далее по сюжету, и разные прорисованные магазины в которые по этому и интересно попадать
    +Разнообразие боссов и секретный босс+секретная концовка которую ты можешь получить, либо на новую игру+, либо походя по миру после основного прохождения и пособирая предметы коллекционированья(всего 25 штук, многие на видном месте прям)
    +Забавные ситуации и юмор в целом понравились
    +Просто прекрасная музыка 12/10, которая играет во всех играх одну из ключевых ролей и может в соло вытянуть не очень хороший геймплей или арт дизайн, особенно запомнились треки - Boss Noize и If You Dare, который очень напомнил мне nightcall из Драйва

    Теперь про минусы:
    -Как я говорил ранее, я не играл в beet 'em up'ы, по этому не совсем в курсе должно ли так быть, но, как минимум если вы тоже не играли в них ранее, не советую проходить игру на сложной сложности на первое прохождение, теряется кайф от неё, думаю она бы мне понравилась гораздо больше если бы я сразу проходил её на нормальной, если же вы играете в двоём, думаю сложная будет уже хорошим выбором.
    -Не знал что при смерти теряется 25% твоих денег, и я на это за всю игру не обратил ни разу внимания, узнал об этом лишь на второе прохождение, и то только потому что в каком то ролике это упомянули, который я посмотрел после первого прохождения игры уже.
    -Кнопка подбора оружия и взаимодействия с НПС и переходом в локации, стоят на одну и ту же кнопку, из за чего случаются ситуации когда ты подбираешь оружия вместо того что бы взаимодействовать с чем то, и тебе просто так сносят хп, или когда тебя с оружием в руках сбивают враги, ты встаёшь и хочешь дать быструю тычку и отбежать, ты берёшь оружие, и видимо в этот момент твоя неуязвимость пропадает, и враги тебя опять опрокидывают, от чего прям реально начинает гореть жопа.
    -Бывают ситуации когда много врагов тебя зажимают и ты можешь потерять наверное вплоть до 40% хп.

    В конце хотелось бы сказать что игра крайне хороша и её точно стоит пройти несмотря на эти минусы, они на самом деле не особо значительные, разве что минус с биндом на одну кнопку, но он фикситься модом UserXpMod.    … Expand

    We had fun with River City Girls, almost as much as with the old titles of the franchise and expecially in coop mode, but we're not sure purists will appreciate some of the new ideas. It's a pity that the game is a little bit pricey, too.

    There's trouble once again in River City, and this time only the girls can save the day! Using a variety of attacks, weapons, and items, these hot-blooded heroines are ready to teach the city’s lowlifes a lesson - either solo or in 2-player co-op! It’s an old-school rumble for a new generation!
