Rising Star 2 is an interesting and lovingly crafted title that takes the traditional party-based RPG and drags it on stage with a modern twist. These bards are worth a look if you want something different, but don’t expect it to be rocketing up the charts next week either.

There are elements of Rising Star 2 that work. The excitement of getting that first gig is a great feeling that builds anticipation for that circled date in the calendar. There's something satisfying in seeing an album come together, trying to balance the best price for merchandise at gig, and slowly gaining popularity. It all wears thin, however, as ultimately Rising Star 2 is more of a game about driving a van than it is making music. With better rhythm games coming soon, Rising Star 2 is much more opening act than headliner.

In fact, the last promises of this niche genre were just cash-grabbing traps like Rock God Tycoon, an unfinished game.
No rhythmic gameplay, just pure management. If you have patience, it will deliver.
