    Since only PC version is on metacritic, I'll write about the PC version and not PS1 version. PS1 version deserved a 9/10 due it's welcome new features: quick turn around, dodge and gunpowder mixing to create ammo. Also, the minigame with mercs where you race against time to run thru the first location of the game was pretty fun. The PC port however wasn't done well.     If you are interested where Resident Evil movie came from, or how the first games in the horror/action genre looked like, you may wish to try RE3, as it's definitely the best game in the series (basically, improved RE2) before it all switched to first person view and went downhill in Sole Survivor.    … Expand

    Despite the fact that my favorite character in the series is the star of this game, I thought it was rather spotty at times. The thing that makes this game so great is Nemesis. He truly redefines the word "resilience". I remember the first time I played this; I was ridiculously terrified whenever he would bust through the door and the intense music would play.     What a classic game! I haven't seen a game of that class in my whole life and will never see because the story ends, and the racoon city is fully destroyed. I am very sad on the end of RE's series and hoping that Capcom will release a game of such class in the future like "Street Fighter" and RE3.

    Much better than RE2. It's more original. There is no one big place, you move through whole city. You always feel chased because of Nemesis. You never know when he will attack you. He is stronger and faster than you. Also he follows you to other rooms! It's really fresh game. RE2 was just like RE1, but this game is something new. It could be a bit longer.

    Respect to this one, I'm a gamer since 2010 and I play this game in 2012 and I really like it. The story is good, gameplay is very simple, sometimes the controller confuses me but that doesn't bother me.

    In my opinion,resident evil 3 is simply a gem. this game is brilliantly-made by far the best resident evil game capcom ever made. the city is full of flesh-tearing and eating zombies,there is a ruthless nemesis,team of mercenaries,simple puzzles,you control a female protagonist known as jill valentine who has previously appeared on the first resident evil game,there is a mercenaries modeIn my opinion,resident evil 3 is simply a gem. this game is brilliantly-made by far the best resident evil game capcom ever made. the city is full of flesh-tearing and eating zombies,there is a ruthless nemesis,team of mercenaries,simple puzzles,you control a female protagonist known as jill valentine who has previously appeared on the first resident evil game,there is a mercenaries mode it's a simple mode where you get to select 3 different characters once you'v selected your character you should do the task before the time runs out and a helluva art of work being put in the gameplay and soundtrack. good times were spent playing this as a kid,for old school gamer's like me i will never give up on the classic resident evil games and this one? this one is just my masterpiece.

    I have the playstation version but it's not here on metacritic for some reason, so I'm just posting my review here. I wasn't a big fan of this one, but it's not a bad game either. It has some cool moments and boss fights, and the atmosphere feels pretty claustrophobic which works for a horror game. However the problems with the first game start resurfacing with the bad inventory design and combat that's unrealistically clunky. The difficulty select is a joke, only easy or hard. Playing on easy is basically a cheat where you start out with a crap load of weapons, ammo and healths in your box whereas hard mode starts you off with absolutely nothing. The game itself really didn't hold my attention for more than a few hours, I'm not sure what it was. It took me like 2 or 3 weeks to beat it because I kept going for long periods of time without playing it because I just didn't care what was going on anymore. Resident Evil has never been strong in terms of plot but at least I didn't have to force myself to finish RE1 and 2.… Expand

    I have spend hours and hours playing this game with my friend. It is still one of my favourite games since 2001 which I will never forget. I gave it 10 points, why? Play it and find out.

    Lo jugué en su día en PS1 (metacritic no ofrece esa versión para analizar) y lo volví a jugar hace poco en versión epsxe. Sigue siendo un juego muy divertido.

    Не застал эту часть в детстве, прошел только сейчас с модом Seamless HD Project (текстуры улучшенные нейросетью). В принципе, все что сказано про первый RE подходит и для этой игры, кроме разве что, бОльшего количества столкновений с боссами (с Немезисом) чем в первой части.

    В целом, прикольная игра, классическая резьба, но честно говоря немного портят иммерсивность очень нелепые    Не застал эту часть в детстве, прошел только сейчас с модом Seamless HD Project (текстуры улучшенные нейросетью).     В целом, прикольная игра, классическая резьба, но честно говоря немного портят иммерсивность очень нелепые моменты, например когда мы находим аккумуляторную батарею, которая нам необходима для ремонта трамвая, в какой-то статуе в закаулке, которая, если в неё положить большую фигурку часов, поворачивается и открывает потайной карман с этой самой батареей..

    Ну в общем, бывают там какие-то нелепые головоломки, которые никак по лору не вписываются в игру. В первой части и второй это объяснялось специальной архитектурой здания со всякими ловушками и прочими приколами (в первой части такой специальный особняк, а во второй полицейский участок был бывшим музеем каким-то). Также раздражают моменты, когда полчаса ищешь ключ к какой-нибудь двери, заходишь внутрь, а дружественный НПС, который вроде как позади тебя был ВНЕЗАПНО оказывается внутри этого запертого здания. И так почти всю игру. Впрочем, этой болезнью болеют почти все RE.

    Ну, думаю затрагивать технические проблемы: аспекты графики, тракторное управление, проблемы с запуском на ПК и прочее - не стоит.

    Мне лично первая часть по атмосфере больше нравится, ну например по музыке, головоломкам и так далее, но я проходил первую часть - ремастер (2015 года) ремейка (2002 года) и подозреваю, что там просто и музыку сделали лучше, и много чего еще улучшили, поэтому сравнение не очень честное (то есть игра из классической трилогии против ремейка), впрочем, разница всего 3 года.

    I am The Destroyer. I will break games, complain about the littlest detail, and tell you whether or not the game is worth buying. A lot of things to say here, but can't due to the 5000 character limit. The game will be judged under year 1999 standards, the year it was first released for Playstation.

    1. Story
    The story takes place in a fictional mid-western town called Raccoon City. The T-Virus has been unleashed, it's citizens decimated, and turned into zombies. Playing as Jill Valentine, you must find your way out of the city. However, that's easier said than done when a Tyrant continues to stock you...
    This story has been done a million times before, but it never get's old. The great part about it is the cut-scenes are balanced, not bring too long or too short.

    2. Voice Acting
    There are a few areas where the voice acting could be improved, but all around, the voice acting is fine.

    3. Graphics and Visuals
    You are going to be amazed when you see all the glass, rubble, fires, destroyed automobiles, and otherwise destruction everywhere. This is what it should feel like in an apocalypse. If this doesn't blow you away then nothing phases you.

    4. Gameplay
    Gameplay refers to survival-horror, customization, and various puzzles you solve within the game. Put it all together and it's Awesome!

    -Survival-Horror-
    Survival-Horror will only be found on Hard difficulty, and doesn't exist on Easy. On Hard difficulty, you will be pushed to the limit as you try to conserve enough ammo & healing to get through an area. But the most intimidating part is that every time you enter an area, enemies could be completely different. You might get Zombies in one area, and then Zombie Dogs in the exact same area the next time you play. This keeps the game fresh as you never know what to expect.
    Unfortunately, those who love the survival-horror genre will be disappointed with the "dodge" feature. Once you master this, there is no survival-horror left at all! You can essentially run around and kill everything with a knife. This takes away from the experience to the point where it shouldn't be present in the game. Another issue is the lack of boss enemies.

    -Customization-
    Unless you're playing on PC or Dreamcast, customization is rather limited. More cannot be said due to this being a spoiler free review.

    -Puzzles-
    Capcom nailed it on the puzzle part. In fact, all of the puzzles are really enjoyable.

    5. Soundtrack
    These tracks will play mind-games with you during gameplay, and this is something you're gonna watch out for if you hope to survive. There are times when these tracks will attempt to overpower your emotions by playing only when the enemies spawn, or just playing when enemies are simply nearby. With enough experience, you'll understand what this means.
    As far as the music itself goes, it is amazing. There are no bad songs, from cut-scenes to gamplay, to even a menu screen.

    6.. Personal Enjoyment
    Oh my god! The amount of saves & reloads I had to do in order to explore an area on Hard mode. I completed the game in 7H 23M, and got an F-Grade for it, but I don't care. It was one of the best moments of my life. You spend so much time trapped in the city and... well... - let's just say there's no other feeling like what you'll be feeling when you complete the game for your first time. You have to be there to experience it.

    7. Overall Verdict
    Despite a few flaws, this game is worthy of preservation, and deserves to be saved. The final verdict for Resident Evil 3 is an 8 out of 10! One of the best Resident Evil games made so far.    … Expand

    This was my favorite horror game as a kid and still is one of my favorite horror and game of all time. Its incredible. Even if you play it this day you will still feel everything in the game because it's so detailed and beautiful made. Its atmosphere is scary and the game makes your heart pumping the whole way through the game.

    Oui, je parle de la version PC, laquelle fonctionne tout de même sur XP (dingue, ça !) mais sans souris ni manette… enfin, pas la manette 360 mais il est écrit dans le manuel que la Sidewinder est prise en compte… la Sidewinder ! de toute façon, pas de port joystick pour la brancher, vu que ma dernière carte son qui marche, je l’ai léguée à ma config des écrans bleus sur Win98). Et puis, faudrait que je la retrouve…

    Bon, de toute façon, ça se joue avec trois touches qui se battent en duel… et le jeu n’est con-stitué que de caméras fixes à la con (comme d’habitude) et surtout, surtout, tu ne peux pas sauvegarder quand tu veux, et puis quoi encore hein…?! Faut d’abord trouver une machine à écrire… ah, je vais peut-être pouvoir sauvegarder, tiens… ah mais non, connard, il faut aussi trouver un ruban encreur et revenir à la putain de machine à écrire ! bah putain…!

    Pas de mini-carte non plus pendant qu’on y est (et puis quoi encore, t’es fou, toi…!) mais une carte qui prend tout l’écran qu’on passe sa vie à ouvrir et fermer : c’est d’un chiant… oui, j’e m’en souviens bien maintenant : c’est F6, échap pour fermer, F6, échap, F6, échap… Et là tiens, tu peux pas ouvrir la porte, là, parce que t’as pas (encore) trouvé le briquet, connaaard…!

    Alors, ce gros jeu de merde marche quand même y compris en 1024×768, tout accéléré Direct3D, bah dis donc ! certes, ça change du VGA de la plaiestassion mais bon… on note quelques artefacts graphiques quand même. Oui, c’est un gros portage de merde d’un sale jeu de merde, j’ai bien compris ! je le donne à ma poubelle, elle se débrouillera avec.    … Expand

    Classic - it is sure a classic. I was only now able to get to know the Resident Evil series, so I can't "evaluate it from my bell tower" as if I had played in the past, as a child, but I will try to be a little stratified and to do that:
    "Eternal doors" ...I hate those long animations. But I understand that in old game this was done to load locations and so on.

    Very tight control. There is no longer an excuse here as "old age". I played other old games now and the controls there was plus-minus adequate, but in this game everything is very tight: stand still while shooting, slow turns(turning on 180dgr does not always help). This can be felt very strongly in a fight with enemies that cannot be killed in a couple of seconds, especially in skirmishes with Nemesis.
    Interesting plot and atmosphere. Good made locations and puzzles... Generally it's a good game, but I can't give it 10 or 9 because I didn't receive much pleasure as I could with that tight and not convenient for me control.    … Expand

    Resident Evil 3 en mi opinión, es uno de los mejores de la saga, y el mejor de la trilogía clásica. Si bien al darte mucho armamento, ya no se siente la misma sensación de horror que antes, los gráficos son mejores, la música me gusto mas, la inclusión de Nemesis un gran añadido, la capacidad de poder tu munición y los nuevos movimientos que si bien son un poco extraños el como ejecutarlosResident Evil 3 en mi opinión, es uno de los mejores de la saga, y el mejor de la trilogía clásica. Si bien al darte mucho armamento, ya no se siente la misma sensación de horror que antes, los gráficos son mejores, la música me gusto mas, la inclusión de Nemesis un gran añadido, la capacidad de poder tu munición y los nuevos movimientos que si bien son un poco extraños el como ejecutarlos (como el esquivar rápidamente), se agradecen el tenerlos. Un juego de mi infancia, al que le tengo mucho cariño y que recomiendo a todo fan de los Resident Evil clásicos.
    Pd: La versión de PC según tengo entendido, originalmente presentaba muchos problemas gráficos, rendimiento pésimo y controles malos. Sin embargo, con un parche ya se puede jugar sin problemas.    … Expand

    I did not understand why the score was low. It was legend. Definitely try it. It may be problematic on new systems. I hope it will get an updated remastered version.

Игра была пройдена неоднократно, с друзьями даже соревновались на скорость прохождения. Вообщем отличное продолжение первых двух частей. Игра которую стоит пройти тем, кто ранее в неё не играл!     Simplesmente um game épico, Nemesis é um inimigo marcante, sobre o game, a gameplay é aprimorada depois do 2, é mais ágil e rápida, sua história conta o fim de Reaccon City.

    Capcom obviously strove to create a game that would preserve the spirit and outlooks of its prequels (read - it's another damn PSX1 port). It seems that they pushed this tendency one step too far, and forgot to actually deliver anything new to the gaming scene.

    Such a pleasure for longtime fans. The series keeps getting better, rather than rotting like the game's antagonists and citizens of Raccoon City...What makes Nemesis better than the previous installments is the improved interface.

    Resident Evil 3 isn't the best place to start for a newcomer to the series. It's a zombie-killing rampage that lacks the inventive game structure that made "Resident Evil 2" so good.
