Rematch is a great example of when developers take a popular topic and put their own spin on it. Some might describe it as a “Rocket League without cars”, but it is so much more than that. The creativity Rematch encourages creates an engaging team-based game that incorporates every player. With easy to learn controls and flashy skills, fans and non-watchers alike are bound to enjoy this chaotic adaptation of soccer.

Rematch is a multiplayer-focused soccer game that stands out for its physics, animations, and dynamic matches.

Rematch may not be the most complex game ever, but it offers a unique take on multiplayer football, which, with the right team, can be an enormously fun time, at least when things work. Currently, however, there are too many issues, and the community has too little interest in playing the game correctly for me to recommend it to most. If you have a crew of friends who all want to play together and love the sport, then it becomes an easier game to recommend, but most players may want to wait and see what updates Sloclap has planned for Rematch’s future before jumping in.

If there's one thing Rematch is really missing, it's content, so in a way we'd say it's still in an Early Access status. However, in functional terms it's complete, so even in its current state, the game is still pretty decent, and for those looking for a well-made and challenging PvP game, with potential to get even better in the future, Rematch is a good choice.

Rematch, especially with friends, is an immediate, exhilarating caricature of football. Its pared-down mechanics inject joy back into a sport that's been hollowed out, both in real life through surrender to capital and geopolitics, and as simulation, in the gears of service-game profit-making machines. Rematch is an ode to football. It is a fun, adrenaline-filled experience that possesses a steep learning curve, but also provides a huge payoff to anyone who dives into its deep, yet simple systems. It suffers from a lack of content and not-so-small net code issues and bugs, but it is a refreshing take on the sport that many fans will appreciate and enjoy.

I wish Rematch had more modes, and I’d kick a soccer ball at somebody’s head for some bots and crossplay, which is bafflingly absent, though all that and more is allegedly coming down the line. I can’t deny that when I’m playing Rematch, I’m having a blast, and when I’m not, I’m thinking about playing Rematch, even if that means risking the solo queue. Sloclap is onto something here, and I even found myself sneaking a couple matches when I got stuck writing this review. That’s a hell of an accomplishment. Now all I need to do is find a regular team. Anybody looking to kick a ball around?

Rematch is a much more fun soccer game than EA Sports FC, but it's basically just Rocket League. And as a rocket league like game, Rematch does everything right - at least within the lines. The teamwork is satisfying, the games are short and intense, and the feeling of control over the ball is indescribably good. It's especially the play outside the lines where Rematch still has to prove itself. There's still a lot of video game missing from this video game, especially for a game that costs 25 euros and relies on a battle pass. Fortunately, that's easy to fix, so hopefully this figure won't age well.

Rematch is a great arcade sports title that’s sure to win over both hardcore and casual fans. With tight controls and excellent customization options, the title’s fun and easy to pick up. While the soundtrack feels lacking and matchmaking can occasionally balloon, you’d be hard-pressed to find anything like this rooted in traditional soccer. If you dig arcade soccer and are tired of gasoline fumes, you’ll have a great time with Rematch.

Rematch is the perfect solution, especially this summer, for anyone who's long since grown tired of EA's football series and needs a breath of fresh air.

Ultimately, our encounter with Rematch gave us generally positive feelings. Sloclap has reinterpreted the rules of the game of soccer, declining them in a game context dedicated to pure fun, free from all the complications that have occurred in the greatest exponents of the genre in recent years. If you are passionate about the 'most beautiful game in the world' or are looking for a sports title to try your hand at, perhaps in the company of a close-knit group of friends, you should give it a chance: despite a certain lack of content and a few too many uncertainties in the management of physics, it is one of the most genuinely fun multiplayer titles that we have tried in recent times. Will it be able to make its way among the big names in the industry and stand as the 'next big thing' in a competitive landscape such as that of multiplayer titles? Posterity will decide.

A clever and hugely enjoyable online team game, even at this early stage in its career -although it feels more like a rival to Rocket League than EA Sports FC.

Even in its current state with plenty of issues, Rematch is the closest thing to a street football simulation. Despite all its flaws, it's been a long time since I've played a game this addictive.

With Rematch, it’s a clean hit: refined visuals, addictive gameplay, and an original concept make it a standout. It’s proof that there’s still room for innovation in the gaming industry—even when it feels like everything revolves around the same tired themes and formulas.

If Sloclap can rightfully be considered a small forge of ideas, then Rematch is undoubtedly its most ambitious project to date. However, this ambition, when confronted with the reality of execution, sees the game struggling to shine as brightly as hoped—at least initially. That said, it provides a solid foundation to build upon, update after update, with the goal of engaging and growing a community—something that is essential for a project of this kind.

Rematch is arguably the best sports game I've played in years, and that comes down to the air-tight mechanics at the core of its gameplay, and how good it feels to dribble, make a pass, take a shot, or make a save - all of which wonderfully balances its 3v3, 4v4, and 5v5 game modes. It's tackled at the knees by everything around that core gameplay, from its poor UI/UX menu design, to its uninspired visual style and the fact that it currently lacks any offline game modes, and, at least at launch, the several networking issues and bugs that plague the experience.

With missing features, server issues, and some gameplay quirks that need to be ironed out, in many ways, Rematch feels like an early-access game. Its foundation is strong, though, capturing the chaotic energy of playing football with your school pals. It's disorganised at times, and the people you're playing with might be frustrating, but there are very few moments when you're not having fun. It's a different kind of football game, yet it's intuitive, and the allure of improving your skill level is captivating. If Slocap can sand off its rough edges, Rematch could be something special. But even in its current state, saying "no" to one more match is a challenging proposition.

A heart-pumping genre superlative that should not be missed despite some technical issues to sort out.

Rematch is a serious candidate to be the Rocket League of this decade. Beyond the obvious similarities (more obvious once you pick up the controller) it is finally a different take on football than EA FC, closer to the real experience that a footballer can live but without forgetting the ludo thanks to the blatantly arcade approach of some gameplay ideas. Many things are missing, I think (I hope) that they will arrive, for now Fútbol is still bailado (and very danceable).

Rematch is a wonderful reinterpretation of football with just enough innovation to make the sport its own. Thanks to an amazing gameplay loop and beautiful art style, every match has been unforgettably fun. Unfortunately, some current issues with server performance and limited, restrictive content stop Rematch from becoming a must buy. Still, anyone looking for a hot new multiplayer game like nothing else should keep a close eye on Rematch’s future.

Whether you're a soccer fan or a football hater, if you like team games where individual skill is as important as knowledge of the game and trust in your partners, chances are you'll have a great time with Rematch. By bringing together everything that makes soccer a popular and enjoyable game, and changing the zenithal point of view for a much more immersive approach, Sloclap has once again succeeded in revolutionizing a genre that has been well established for years. Rematch is a shot of instant fun that will surprise any skeptic and make you feel like a pro right away, but will also remind you every two minutes that you need more practice. But while it's absolutely exhilarating to play Rematch, this pleasure is marred by a glaring lack of finishing touches, the absence of local multiplayer and server problems that we hope will soon disappear.

Rematch is a strong, almost addictive soccer game with an arcade feel. However, its fundamentally good foundation is severely hindered by technical issues that prevent it from reaching its full potential.

For football enthusiasts, Rematch is certainly worth a try, but for those looking to dive deep, it may not be the right fit for most players. Its mechanics and systems lean far more toward the hardcore end of the spectrum compared to something like FIFA, turning even seemingly simple actions into daunting tasks. While the skill ceiling is impressively high, reaching it requires a serious investment of time and dedication.

While modern sports video games focus on realism and official licenses, Sloclap goes back to basics with Rematch, a football title that prioritizes gameplay above all else and distances itself from the pay-to-win model that has become common in the king of sports.

Rematch is a very good game. It's the game I've wanted for so many years, and I'm overjoyed that it's finally here. It's both fun to watch and fun to play, and I hope Sloclap succeeds in the seemingly impossible task of convincing players to pay for something that, in many ways, looks like a free-to-play title.

While Rematch is much more approachable than Sloclap’s other titles, it is by no means an easy game. Football fans can’t just hop into this one thinking it’ll tide them over till the next EA FC comes out. Rematch requires a certain degree of dedication, and that steep learning curve could put off a lot of players.

Rematch can be fun in bursts and over time it should grow to have a decent community. The emphasis on player skill over unlocking perks and skill points is refreshing, but can be hindered by the control scheme and camera. Some issues also need to be sorted too. Rematch is a nice distraction as an arcadey football game, and it has its place, but it is a small club that needs to build over time to challenge the bigger ones.

ReMatch dreams of being a concentrated action game and an arcade alternative that's both easy to access and challenging. At the start, this is partly the case, and some of its promises are kept: you can feel its potential, the games with friends are wild, and it's hard to put it down. However, Sloclap's title isn't yet up to the task of lasting 90 minutes. Lacking content and fine-tuning, the coming months will need to be dedicated to training if ReMatch has the ambition to lift a major trophy in the world of sports gaming.

Rematch is like attending football practice with a group of eager five-year-olds. Sally's kid turns up in jeans, Bob's son refuses to even get out of the car, and Steve's lad turns up in a £150 personalized Real Madrid kit. What follows is rarely ever considered football.

Rematch has good bones. It’s full of energy, raw and unbridled. But it’s a rough diamond, and rougher than most. The game has serious issues that border on rendering the game completely unfun. But if players stick around for long enough for developer Sloclap to polish those defects, to improve the servers and make goalkeeping feel responsive, then we might just have something here. At the moment, it’s a bit of a mess. But it’s a mess that keeps you coming back, that forces you to play ‘one more match’ in case it’s the one where you finally net a hat trick of bicycle kicks. And it’s a game I’d prefer to play over EA FC any day.

The creators of Sifu have made a game even for those who don't like sports. In mid-April, testing of Rematch began, and at that time, the peak number of online players on Steam exceeded 120,000, and some gamers are already calling the new game the future of virtual football. As soon as the game is released, it has every chance of becoming the new gaming discovery of the year. Despite some minor flaws, REMACH is a game that definitely deserves attention. With these shortcomings addressed, it could become a real hit, winning the hearts of millions of players.

Rematch has everything it needs to become the ultimate arcade soccer game, but it's in desperate need of a technical overhaul. The ideas are there, the fun is there, but the issues overshadow the virtues. Hopefully, with a patch or future updates, the game will resume after this hydration break, or else we'll be forced to go to overtime.

Great arcade football with a strong concept, however technical execution and uneven balance put the brakes on the fun. Rematch urgently needs a few months of fine-tuning.

Rematch stands as a rare and bold attempt to faithfully translate real-world soccer (or football) into the online competitive gaming space—and it pulls it off really well. Though it can feel rather punishing to learn, this competitive game is there for anyone looking to experience the thrill of a real-world sport in an online space.

Rematch is very fun, especially with friends. Its major problems are outside the matches: the lack of crossplay, server issues, a certain feeling of F2P mobile games... being a premium game, etc.
  2. It's telling that the missing feature I desire most is not an emote or a graphics setting or a - pffft - "mandatory pass". But just some way to auto-rematch, so I don't have to tap Y at the end of every game within a 10-second countdown to re-enter the queue for another game. This is how moreish (and perfectly named) Rematch is. My biggest complaint is that I'm sick of the game asking "Do you want to play again?" Of course I do.
  3. Jun 23, 2025
Sloclap could have delayed Rematch to get it in, and I don’t think anyone would be hurt. But they opted to give us the game without it and avoid delaying putting it into our hands. And what they delivered is an excellent experience. Hopefully, they’ll add some single-player-related modes down the road, but for now? I’m good. I haven’t enjoyed a purely multiplayer game like this in a while. And once the crew can get on all at once, I’m looking forward to us taking over the pitch. [Highly Recommended]
