This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Regency Solitaire is a great solitaire game. The graphics, artwork, music and sound effects make it a joy to play. It's a relaxing game and you can go at your own pace. The game has quite a lot of variety, particularly if you compare it some other solitaire games which have maybe two or three spreads of cards at most. There are also some special abilities at your disposal that charge up as you play, enabling you to remove a couple of cards or shuffle the cards on the table.

If you are a person who enjoys reading Jane Austen and novels in a derivative style, there is a familiar central story set in the early 19th century about a young woman called Bella. As the heroine, you want her to grow rich and marry a handsome chap. It is quite hard to understand how she manages to win so much money at cards without putting-up any money herself. The sub-plot about a roguish brother who gambles the family's money away (forcing Bella to win it back) is a paradox. Thankfully, you can play the game in non-story mode if you prefer, which is very likely if you have played through the game once already.

It's definitely worth getting this game if you enjoy solitaire. The developers have produced something quite charming. It has enough elements to keep you playing for at least a few hours, possibly many more.

Solitaire is hardly new, but Regency Solitaire, with its attention to detail in story, gameplay, and artistry, stands as an example of how a standard game can be reinvented with creativity.

Simple, yet so addictive, a must have for fans of simple card games.
