  1. Unlike Audiosurf, Raycatcher doesn’t offer interesting gameplay modes. It fails on other accounts as well: playlists are clumsy, there is no pause, and, more importantly, no Internet features like leaderboards and achievements. All in all, with or without music, Raycatcher is just another boring arcade.

An interesting idea that doesn't work quite as well as we'd like. [Issue#23, p.63]

This program is best not played as a 'game' as such. You should think of it as a way of doing something while you listen to music. This program is best not played as a 'game' as such. The beatsync isn't great and the 'puzzles' are really just hectic arcade colour management but all in all, with a price of $5US you can't go wrong. Expand

2009 Title, that was a flop. I unfortunately found this game on Steam, didn't look, and wasted a few bucks on this. My issue is mainly in how2009 Title, that was a flop. I unfortunately found this game on Steam, didn't look, and wasted a few bucks on this. My issue is mainly in how this game does not even live up to the claim that it allows the player to create their own playlist. My guess is that this was created on Windows XP by 2 hack indie companies trying to begin in the market. With it being 800x600 full screen, no higher resolution options supported, no options to change controls (mouse movement is the only control), no sound options, and flat or just offending sarcasm about intellectual matters regarding science or politics, this game is just terrible. Even overlooking all that, the game is still so damn boring. The only movement is the rays, and there really isn't any visual objects moving in sync to various beats. The rays themselves are lame. I don't understand how they thought this title was going to net them positive reviews and sales. Absolutely terrible, and I'm going to take a guess that the 2 studios, with 5 names overall mentioned when loading the game, and the obscure music, all contributed to this title being released like this.
