  • Summary: It's a straightforwardly lovely day in Hus.

It's always a lovely day in Hus. That's not suspicious at all! The bovey is grazing in the field, the faer are roaming around town causing chaos, the shadies are out preaching (they're not a cult!), and a giant stone portal to another dimension

It's always a lovely day in Hus. That's not suspicious at all! The bovey is grazing in the field, the faer are roaming around town causing chaos, the shadies are out preaching (they're not a cult!), and a giant stone portal to another dimension has appeared in the woods.

I hope nothing goes hideously wrong and results in an adventure.

This is the journey of Ren, a twenty-something shepardess who gets thrown into a multiversal conflict while on a fetch quest to find her lost flock. She'll have the fates of her friends in her hands, and YOU will have to help her make the difficult choices.

Will she prevail? Will anyone survive? Why does everything pseudo-mystic have Quantum in the title? These questions and more, or fewer, may or may not be answered!

Quantum Witch is a short experience that has very good narrative beats. Ren’s adventure starts off a little slow, with many visits to a hint skeleton and some cult interactions. But once she goes magical and visits new worlds, the characters become funnier and the questions bigger, exploring big themes in interesting ways. Unfortunately, the actual gameplay is pretty limited, with only a few situations where the plane-shifting power is engaging to use. The presentation is good but requires some love of the 16-bit look. Quantum Witch is fun but it needs extra mechanical depth and a few more places to visit to appeal to a wider audience.

It gets more repetitive with each new playthrough, but the fun presentation, delightful characters, and significant freedom of choice give Quantum Witch enough replay value to want to find everything you can in this magical fantasy universe.

A thought provoking yet funny retro style adventure, that offers one of the most complex and versatile branching narratives in gaming.

A pocket-sized piece of interactive fiction, Quantum Witch does a lot of interesting things with its writing, but its abrupt length and love of quips stop it fully hitting home.

Quantum Witch is a delightfully queer narrative based platformer with wonderful writing, but the lack of direction it gives will lead to frustration.

Quantum Witch's greatest device — its plotforming — hits well when the themes align, but constant tonal shifts make it difficult to truly get immersed without continued whiplash.
