Project wingman scratches an itch that I've had for VR flight action since it was announced for PS4 Ace Combat. This is a full fat VR game made by 2 people with a solid but not groundbreaking story and fun characters and boss fights. Graphically, this game is very impressive for such a small effort.

There are some bugs, that the developers are scrambling to fix as I type this review.

I'll summarize like this: Ace Combat 7, which heavily inspired this game, is like a ribeye at a 5 star restaurant. It's immaculate, made by the chef who's been making it for years and has it to a cold science of spices and flavors. Project Wingman is a New York Strip from your favorite hometown diner. It's not as perfect and immaculate, but it comes with a care and warmth that can only come from a passion for the product. Easy recommendation for any fan of the genre.

The game has a few positive things going for it but it insists on wasting your time by making you start missions from the start rather than having checkpoints. I value my time more than wasting 40 minutes just to have the game tell me the mission was failed at the very last second.

It's a bit rough on the edges at first but with the necessary changes at settings this is an excellent Ace of Combat type of game with an interesting post-apocalyptic campaign after an ecological disaster and a conquest mode. Overall a great work from an indie developer, hope they release a sequel in the future.

Your character is a guy who traded the ability to speak for a body that can sustain 20 Gs of force, the Yellowstone supervolcano has cracked the Earth in half, your squadmates are complete knobs, and your plane alone carries enough missiles to level a small country (and you get to do that!)

I backed this in Kickstarter ages ago, and every penny I helped put into this labour of love was well deserved. If you're a fan of Ace Combat or HAWX, you'll get your 25USD worth very very easily. The planes handle like a dream, the visuals are stunning, and the story is coherent and rather engaging. The only downside I had was just parched out as of 1.04, so I'll give this game a perfect score.

More hard than Ace combat, more fun, and less expensive. Just buy it. The game doesn't pretend to be a deep storytelling masterpiece, but just a challenging and fun arcade sim. And it succeeds plenty in that.

Project Wingman in VR is the way that all Ace Combat style games are meant to be played. Every Ace Combat or arcade jet dogfighting game from this point forward needs to ship with full VR support, there's no excuse anymore. Currently one of the best full VR games out there.

It doesn't take itself too seriously and doesn't suffer from the prepubescent and ear-bleeding writing and banter of Ace Combat 7. Fans of the series will greatly appreciate this and fans of simulators like me, will also love this. Our genre is really starved of good games. As a project made by only a two-man team, this game is just marvelous. I especially like how the aircraft are much more detailed and have better styling than in Ace Combat. You can tell that this game was built with passion with so many fine details, down to the camo of the planes to the messy skies with smoke trails and debris everywhere to the way planes fall to the ground while burning. It is also significantly harder than Ace Combat and the missions are more complex, longer and loaded with numerous targets. The missiles perform better and the planes handle much better than in Ace Combat. Project Wingman is not too realistic, but enjoyable on so many levels. The soundtrack is also insanely good. For the low asking price, this game is a true gem of the skies! Expand

Vibrant game, could be labelled as a Ace Combat clone, but a hell of good one. Campaign is pretty good and conquest mode adds a lot of replayability. Controls are satisfying, and effects are gorgeous (Explosions!!).

Hard to believe this was a 2-man team behind this.

Also to note game is receiving feedback and immediate updates by developers.

Pure, unadulterated, anime-cheese fighter-pilot kino. Best played with a flight stick (make sure it covers pitch, yaw, and roll), but accommodates controller and mouse/keyboard. Story is dumb, cheesy, over-the-top anime ridiculousness and I love every minute of it.

Conquest mode gives the game more replayability than Ace Combat 7. Only downside: no checkpoints and missions are long.

This is the next Ace Combat I've been waiting for. Better than Ace Combat 7 and nearly as good as Ace Combat 6. Completed the campaign in about 12 hours, but that's only about half the content. Great game, perfecting for scratching the Ace Combat itch. Only complaint is minor glitches and a current lack of two-seater planes (which means you often miss out on dialogue with your second-seat character), but the devs have said that they plan to remedy both those issues.

Excelente surpresa, esse jogo não deixa nada devendo para quem curte um combate aéreo.

    Pontos Positivos:
    + Cenários e condições variados
+ Várias opções de aviões e armamentos
    + Visual e som bacanas
    + No PC, suporte nativo a 21:9

    Pontos Negativos
+ As missões são meio longas

Excellent game, I feel like if Ace Combat ditched their licensing stuff they could make the game better - like how this is basically Ace Combat 7 in terms of fun, it's just less polished!

This game caught me by surprise, it takes the genre that Ace Combat really created to new heights, graphically it stuns me every now and then, however the plane models themselves could have done with a bit more work. Gameplay wise I have zero complaints, its fluid, flight controls seem spot on (After tweaking some of the axis curves) and the gunplay feels perfect. 9/10 my only complaint isThis game caught me by surprise, it takes the genre that Ace Combat really created to new heights, graphically it stuns me every now and then, however the plane models themselves could have done with a bit more work. The game looks interesting, but for me, it simply does not work. When I try to start the campaign, and get to the plane selection before a mission, my cursor disappears, and the sensitivity skyrockets for some reason, and I just can't even get the mouse to where it needs to go. I tried with gamepad, and same issue with it as well...

Great game with a decent story, definitely something to fill in between the infrequent releases of Ace Combat. It has a lot of what makes AC games good but builds on top of it too with new things like conquest mode.

An excellent game for a somewhat niche genre, I cannot see someone saying they dislike the game without saying they dislike arcade flight sims.
While it is not flawless, the patch that has already dropped a little more than a week after launch has patch all the things that would knock my rating down from a 10.
I hear VR had some cosmetic/minor issues that where unresolved, but that is

I hear VR had some cosmetic/minor issues that where unresolved, but that is hear-say as I do not
    have a headset.

    Some things I like:
Weapons, All the weapons. Bring Bombs, SPAMRAAMS (multi-lock missiles to cut down chaff), and extra guns (because one isn't enough Dakka), and switch between them is engaging and it feels great to be able to look at a problem and then say I have a solution and change how you are going to fight, a knife fight with extra guns, sniping with long ranged missiles, or just blazing past them all firing at everyone with your multi-lock weapons and waiting to reload as you charge away.

An old gripe about older ace combat and similar was how ace pilot bosses just kinda cheated and turned on a dime, but I really love how the AoA delimiter allows you to do the same, making you feel like a bad ass as you spin around killing people, but having it have drawbacks that just don't make you always spam it just to deal with enemies, keeping it fun to use (Kills your airspeed, can't have flares)

The sound track is great considering its made by like one guy and has a really nice feel to it that hits the right notes for the story and the action

It has an extremely fun and satisfying gameplay thanks to its visual effect, intuitive flight model and phenomenal soundtrack.

Project Wingman is definitely not a simulator- aircraft physics just aren't there, they feel more like spaceships. You carry hundreds of rockets and all sorts of futuristic weapons. It doesn't make it less fun, though. Enemies are not too challenging, but not too simple- just a perfect balance. As long as you don't hit the ground, you will beat every mission sooner or later. The game is in extremely polished techinical condition. It looks surprisingly good, and FPS is as high as it can be. Load times are non-existant.
I didn't really pay attention to the plot, but it's there, represented by a few short, mostly skippable cutscenes.
Missions felt a bit repetitive at times, but each one of them offered something unique or unexpected.
All in all, I've had a great time playing this game.

Project Wingman is an indie aerial combat game that could easily be mistaken for a AAA title. If playing a flight shooter in VR on PC is your dream, look no further. However, with repetitive gameplay and a story that’s difficult to understand, Project Wingman just doesn’t feel exhilarating enough to make it enjoyable for the casual player.

Project Wingman may well be the most frustrating game I’ve ever unabashedly loved by making me feel like the hotshot pilot I’ve never been, and the only price I have to pay is a little bit of my sanity every time I die and remember that there aren’t any checkpoints.
