Kudos to the developer for delivering on their promise. I expected a small flashy game but received a huge product rich of features, with immersive gameplay in and out. Lots can be improved and it is still ongoing, but what's there already provides great pleasure for gamers hungry of good old fun of the 90s. Crap, it's also supercheap.

Game is an instant classic, I spent the whole weekend replaying different builds and didn't study for my exam.
Excellent sounds, art style, weapons feel so good to use, especially minigun (oh the sound), shotguns, magnum pistol, mage staff...
Can easily recommend, well priced with free soundtrack, no pre release dlc BS like we get from ea, ubisoft or others.
Can't wait what is coming next.

I had lots of fun playing it, actually finished on the Casual level, with 13h+ gameplay on the clock. Great nostalgic fun for those who liked Hexen or old Doom. Putting both medieval and tech/gun elements in is a great idea, especially since you can upgrade weapons and stats to customize your character. Treasure actually helps your character, too!

Only gripes are that there's too much "junk" in the levels to move around, and projectiles are too easily caught on corners.

Wow! I've just discovered this game on GOG.com. As a big fan of FPS games I give it 10/10. You ask why? Answer is simple, after playing for 2 hours I realised that PW reminds me very old game I've played in the past - Gloom. Good old school for fans

I've just came here to leave the review. Have you ever played Wolfenstein 3D (or 2.5D if you prefer;))? If yes and you really like it then you cannot make a mistake in... not buying PW. Shooting to pixels have never been more fun. That's right, grab your gun and blast them all.

Have played and I'm in love. Cartloads of amazing adventure... ok, killing and action. I very like the settings board where it possible to adjust almost every aspect of graphic. Too shame there's no multiplayer. Despite that game is awesome and you must just play it.

The best game of 2018. It's like revisiting my fav games from the 90's. I can't express the love for this game, so I'll just say, that I'm going to replay it now, see you later boys. Pickens approves!

The best shooters often spawn from simplicity. In Project Warlock, you run fast, you carry a large arsenal of weapons, and shoot everything that moves. What about the story? Don't worry about it, it's not important. Project Warlock takes you through several episodes, including Castles, Pyramids, Ice Fields, City Streets, and even Hell itself.

Don't worry about it, it's not important. Project Warlock takes you through several episodes, including Castles, Pyramids, Ice Fields, City Streets, and even Hell itself.

Project Warlock's biggest strength is the gameplay. You get a large arsenal of satisfying weapons, and diverse enemies to dispense with them, all while moving at an inhuman speed. The game has you collecting keycards and finding your way through sprawling, interconnected levels, like a modern Wolfenstein 3D. Also, your character is a Warlock so there are spells you can use and unlock in the game as well, whether it's just a torch to light up a dark area, or a freeze spell that turns enemies into immobile blocks of ice ready to be mowed down. Between each level you will enter the workshop, where you can spend points you earn in a level to upgrade your character. These upgrades consist of 3 types, character stats, spells, and weapon upgrades.

The only nitpicks I have with Project Warlock is that while the game does have secrets, it merely just consists of spamming the action key against walls until one opens. More cleverly designed secrets would have been appreciated. Also, the game on normal difficulty is too easy, there is a hard mode, but it acts more like a hardcore mode and doesn't give you any extra lives. A difficulty in between the two would benefit the game for veterans of the FPS genre such as myself. Lastly, the game gives out healthpacks too generously, I often found myself at the end of a level on full health, while still seeing healthpacks all over the ground. The healthpacks that are placed within the level are enough, enemies drop them too frequently and I never felt the urgency of my character on low health.

Nitpicks aside though, Project Warlock is more than a nostalgia trip. Whether you are a veteran of the FPS genre, or have never played the classics, you will enjoy blasting through this fast paced romp of a game. It's a classic formula with modern sensibilities that anyone who loves shooters must play.

This is like replaying Catacomb 3D or Wolfenstein 3D, although it has some pretty interesting weapons and shooting mechanics. The level design is bland, mediocre at best. AI is nonexistent, but at least the monsters have some variety.
There are sadly many better games on the market, so you may give this one a pass.

A short but no-nonsense romp in a game that puts on the shoes of its ancestors DOOM and Wolfenstein 3D, and finds them fitting exceptionally well. Marred only by some technical issues with mouse acceleration, and some dubious enemy placement behind doors with no time to respond.

    This is game is awesome:
+ the weapons are fun (it's hard to chose a favorite)
    + the controls fluid
    + the graphics great
    + the music propelling
+ the weapon and skill development keeps you motivated

    The only downsides are:
    - losing map awareness
    - lots of wall hugging for completionists
    - people not giving it enough credit

Project Warlock is a Doom-like that packs a punch. The levels are full of secrets, the enemies have a great range of behaviours, and the weapons – boy, the weapons – are a joy to use. Add all of that to the 60 levels to learn and explore and the challenges provided by the higher difficulty levels and you have a winning formula. Even if the pixel graphics aren’t your usual cup of tea, Project Warlock is more than worth your time.

Project Warlock is an excellent old school fps that brings back the genre to its roots of the 90s. Search colored keys and kill hordes of ruthless demons in a frenetic and fast paced shooter that is really fun to play.
