    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Power of Defense is an indie "Tower-Defense" type game by a German company that is almost good. First of all being a non-American game is very apparent because of the constant grammatical errors and incorrect use of idioms. Some parts are still funny and you can tell what they were going for despite most of it being lost in translation. However, the biggest downfall of this game is the actual gameplay. I enjoy Tower Defense games a lot, Plants vs Zombies, Defense Grid, etc. I enjoy the micro-managing of resources and putting them towards better offensive or defensive tools, but I don't see much of that in this game. I have yet to see what the real strategy of this game is, because it all seems very random. You can try the same exact approach to a situation 10 times and get 10 different results. I believe there are 12 levels and each level is very similar in design. You have resources which can create robots to fight off the other robots coming towards you on an almost conveyor belt type path. If 10 bad robots get all the way to your portal by your robot factory you lose and if you do the same you win. There are a several different type of robots; ones that shoot ice, other flames, other that can steal enemy robots, and so on. Big problem is that you don't really get to use all the robots until the last level and then the game is over. There are power-ups in the game that cost way too much in resources and chances are if you have that much in resources you are probably going to beat the level anyhow and usually it's not worth it to get one of these power-ups because depletes all or most of your resources which leaves you very vulnerable. Which brings me to my next point; the balance is horrible. Most Tower Defense type games have you plotted against a different type of bad-guy versus your guys but all the robots eventually end up the same, but for some reason the AI has way more resources than you. I don't mind a challenge but it's not even fun because you will patiently wait to gather resources meanwhile the AI keeps chucking out the stronger and more powerful robots with no hesitation. I took a risk and spent 9 bucks on this game because it was on Steam and convenient, however I would not recommend anyone to buy this game, or at least now. It appears that they will be releasing updates since it clearly states version 1.0 at the bottom. If they can do a lot of polishing including adding more game modes than just 12 levels and that's it, then it may be worth the money. Also it suppose to include a multi-player but doesn't seem to work as of yet. Power of Defense is simple and good idea but the execution isn't there.… Expand

    Since pod has been updated to 1.1 I can only say: Well done! It is a completely different game, a game I very enjoy to play. By the way: I agree 1.0 was a pain.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game needed to cook a little longer in the pan. How about getting someone who speaks English to translate the game into English? No local scores, as far as I can tell. And though the robot upgrades are continually made available, sending out a million of the cheapest thing they've got wins every time. There are bugs like overlapping text boxes and floating cans of recyclables. The dialogue sounds like a 12-year-old wrote it. "Sissy." "No, you're a sissy." "Oh yeah, well you're a sissy." You're kidding me, right? I wanted to like this game, because the dueling tower defense idea is interesting and original. Unfortunately, this game is just a waste of $9.… Expand

    I totally agree with td gamer, you have to play 1.1 :-)
    There are still some mistakes therefore I give 9 points, but this game is definitely not 1 point.

    I completely agree with DeathPocket. Save your money for a game developer that has some understanding of what gameplay means. I cannot believe I wasted 10 dollars on this POS game.

    All in all Power of Defense is a solid PC game. It is a mix of strategy and tower defense, but there is not enough variety to keep the gamer playing for hours.
