Postal 2: Paradise Lost is an expansion pack that's meant explicitly for fans who love the idea of a first-person adventure title and don't mind its broad and potentially offensive humor. The fans should also be able to deal with a litany of bugs to get to a game that lets them do almost anything they want and play any way they want. For that audience, the pack is certainly worth it, warts and all.

Postal 2: Paradise Lost isn’t a disaster, but it is a fairly hard game to recommend in the end. Unless you have a lot of affection for the original game and you have been eagerly awaiting more content, it is an expansion pack that you should probably skip.

If you have played the old postal games, years and years ago, you know exactly what i"m talking about. There is nothing better than to play a game and constantly be laughing at how horrible it is, its extremely entertaining and would recommend it to anyone with that special sense of humor. Don't expect much from graphics or anything, the gameplay/story makes up for that. Also, the game is single player only, for all you BitT's out there, you know what I am saying. Full Review »

I enjoyed III, but PL makes it look like the incompenent bungle RWS themselves frequently insist it is. PL offers an entire new week of chores, new weapons, mechanics and redone versions of the base games levels. The dual wield mechanic in particular is very enjoyable when coupled with the new lever-action shotgun. For an expansion to a game that's over a decade old, Paradise Lost looks pretty good. There are some better models and textures then others- the robot factory looks good enough that you might forget it was rendered in Unreal 2 Engine.

The Dude awakens from a years-long coma to find himself back in the **** known as Paradise, Arizona, now minus his dog Champ and with the town even worse for the wear thanks to his antics in Apocalypse Weekend (And with the events of Postal III retconned as a terrible coma dream). Still, there's plenty to do and people to talk to- including people you probably killed in the base game. Guess maybe canon Dude isn't a mass murdering psychotic after all. Or is he?

The fact that there very few actual new maps is offset by a new set of errands and a different flow to the objectives themselves, with more cutscenes, dialogue and boss fights in the style of Apocalypse Weekend spaced between the freeroam segments. There is also a LOT of new dialogue for the Dude courtesy of both Rick Hunter AND Corey Cruise, playing a version of the Postal III Dude that serves as a voice in Postal 2 Dude's head- complete with his own model, brown coat and all.

This campaign presents the Dude in a more sympathetic light then before- all he really wants is to get his dog back, and plenty of **** are in his way. How many people have to suffer, get cut in half, explode, set on fire or pissed on for that is, again, entirely up to the player. Regardless, its just as crude and tasteless as its predecessors, shows a lack of respect for other peoples' existence in the vein of South Park or Republicans, and won't win any awards from people that wish to elevate the status of games as an artistic medium. It also takes a fairly vicious jab at Tim Schafer and Double Fine that I don't quite get the point of. That being said, its an actually reasonably priced DLC and shows a care and dedication to its parent game that more well-known studios could and should learn from.
