    Portal is an incredible gameplay concept, that had an incredible game built around it. The story and pacing are good, the jokes are funny, and holy **** that 3rd act is something else

    The villain makes this game prefect. Not gonna tell you much about the villain. But I will tell you that this game is a simple masterpiece. The test chambers in this game are pretty good. If it's a Valve game... YOU KNOW IT'S GONNA BE GOOD. There's only really like 2 Valve games that are bad. This low count of bad games makes them the King of gaming (I'm looking at YOU 343).     Valve really needs to make more new games with their IPs man. Portal has one of the most unique and creative concepts for a game I've ever seen, and the potential this series has is through the roof. The execution of those ideas, while flawed in a few ways, still made for an excellent experience, and I can confidently say that even with only two games, Portal is one of my favorite series.Valve really needs to make more new games with their IPs man. Both games in the Portal series excel at what they do, and while Portal 2 has more depth and is way more replayable these days, you shouldn't count out the first game under any circumstance.… Expand

    Un juego corto, pero entretenido de principio a fin, una mecánica de portales ingeniosamente diseñada, con un final abierto más que decente. Si te quedas con ganas de más, existe su secuela, por lo que la duración del juego, pese a ser su mayor punto en contra, se puede remediar fácilmente. Sua história é relativamente boa, preparando-nos para o que viria a seguir, em sua continuação. Tem bons gráficos para sua época e não exige muito dos computadores para ser jogado, o que é um pontoPortal 1 é um jogo muito bem feito, tendo puzzles desafiadores, mas que são mentalmente solucionáveis e sem a necessidade de tutoriais ou gameplays do Youtube para conseguir passar de fase. Sua história é relativamente boa, preparando-nos para o que viria a seguir, em sua continuação. Tem bons gráficos para sua época e não exige muito dos computadores para ser jogado, o que é um ponto muito positivo, por ele rodar em quase qualquer PC. Sua gameplay é fluída, sendo muito raros os bugs (em minhas gameplays foram nulos) e se torna muito desafiadora, principalmente nos Mapas Avançados e Desafios, apesar de ser um jogo de quebra-cabeça. Minha única reclamação é o fato do jogo ser bem curto, tendo apenas umas 4 horas de gameplay no modo história. Apesar disso, vale muito a pena seu preço em promoção, que é sempre recorrente. Recomendo comprar Portal 2 junto, ou o pacote dos dois jogos, porque a sequência desse jogo é uma obra-prima.… Expand

    Great puzzle game, thoroughly enjoyed almost every moment, some puzzles here are more frustrating than challenging, however, mostly due to the pretty wacky physics engine. Overall it's a great, simple puzzle game, that is merely overshadowed by just how much of a sheer masterpiece its sequel is.

    Portal es una obra maestra. Cuando empecé a jugarlo, no entendía el por qué de las tan buenas críticas al juego. El inicio es muy simple y cuando digo muy, es muy simple. Pero, cada vez el juego se iba volviendo mejor.     Portal es una obra maestra. Cuando empecé a jugarlo, no entendía el por qué de las tan buenas críticas al juego. El inicio es muy simple y cuando digo muy, es muy simple. Pero, cada vez el juego se iba volviendo mejor. Cada puzzle es más difícil que el anterior, con una idea que es muy simple y al mismo tiempo compleja (como es el usar dos portales para ir a distintos sitios), que se usa de forma genial durante 19 niveles.

    La historia es simple (no por ello mala, es bastante original) pero lo mejor es sin duda su villana: GlaDos. Glados es de los mejores antagonistas que he visto en mucho tiempo, porque solo te quiere para que hagas las pruebas y a tu casa, solo quiere que la obedezcas y ese humor sádico que tiene a veces es genial.

    Los puzles son magistrales, de los mejores que me he encontrado en videojuegos, que se complementan con un diseño de niveles perfecto que te tendrá horas atrapado en Aperture Science. La ambientación es de locos, con unos sonidos perfectos para el entorno y un estilo artístico muy minimalista pero muy funcional.

    A brilliant idea with the portal gun, the gradual introduction of new elements to the puzzles, a wonderfully built plot and atmosphere. My only complaint is that the game is too short!

    One of the best puzzle games I've ever played. Each level was hard enough to make me consider how to get past it but also not to hard to make the actual solution be nonsense. I just wish Portal was longer.

    Perfect for speedrunning. Really good. In my opinion it has one of the best tutorial. Best thing are the turrets. THEY ARE SO CUTE! The Humor is not for everyone but I love it. 10/10

    Portal es un gran juego de puzzles que a día de hoy se sigue sintiendo original e innovador. Lo que más destaca en este juego son sin duda su cuidada y característica jugabilidad y sus sorprendentes físicas, siendo estas últimas de las mejores que he visto en un videojuego. Cada nivel ofrece cosas nuevas y todas las mecánicas que ofrece la Portal Gun están muy bien desarrolladas ePortal es un gran juego de puzzles que a día de hoy se sigue sintiendo original e innovador. Lo que más destaca en este juego son sin duda su cuidada y característica jugabilidad y sus sorprendentes físicas, siendo estas últimas de las mejores que he visto en un videojuego. Cada nivel ofrece cosas nuevas y todas las mecánicas que ofrece la Portal Gun están muy bien desarrolladas e integradas. En cuanto a los gráficos, el juego no ha envejecido nada mal y esa estética que tiene contribuye a una historia plagada de ironía pero con un terror subyacente que ha conseguido transmitirme una sensación única. Esta historia es muy breve y sin complejidad, pero con pocos conceptos consigue ser espeluznante. A esto ayuda uno de los mejores personajes que he visto en los videojuegos, GLaDOS, ya que con su humor y sus diálogos consigue que el jugador se sienta incómodo constantemente sabiendo que está siendo utilizado como sujeto de pruebas. Cabe destacar que a nivel sonoro no está mal, y la banda sonora se basa en una simple melodía que suena en ciertas ocasiones pero que en el final del juego resulta en una canción inolvidable y magistral. Es cierto que la pelea final resulta algo decepcionante, o que quizá no todos los puzzles son extremadamente entretenidos; pero en su conjunto da una obra realmente sólida muy recomendable para todo tipo de jugador y a los amantes de los juegos de puzzles. 8,8/10

    Un classique parmis les puzzle games, à faire absolument.

    Des salles pas toujours évidentes qui nécessitent souvent de l'observation et de la réflexion pour en venir à bout, sans en être trop complexe et lassant. Un renouvellement entre les salles assez impressionnant qui fait que le jeu nous tiens jusqu'au bout, sans trop rajouter de mécaniques pour nous perdre.     Um dos melhores do mundo os graficos source são muito bons a jogabilidade e diferente do que qualquer outro jogo de puzzle nunca vi na minha vida essa mecanica de portais so nesse jogo e os puzzles são bem dificeis e a historia e mais ou menos

    Very interesting mechanism even after 15 years. Simple concept but you need to manage the concept to resolve the puzzles. The game design is also very smooth, you don't feel overwhelmed since the puzzles will guide you. The last mission is difficult but a very good example to show you how capable the game is. Didn't get a chance to play the additional missions.

    This game is really good, in this review, I will not talk about the good points but about the bad points.

    1) The game is to short (I know it was a bonus game in the orange box).
    2) The less steps challenge.

    portal is a single-player puzzle game, that has a lot of pros and almost zero cons, so let me list off the pros and cons

    pros: + the game makes your little monkey brain actually think on how to solve the levels and makes you smarter + most of the achievements are challenging, and fun to do + after you complete the game you can play bonus levels + the game has some comedy cons: -    portal is a single-player puzzle game, that has a lot of pros and almost zero cons, so let me list off the pros and cons

    pros:
    + the game makes your little monkey brain actually think on how to solve the levels and makes you smarter
    + most of the achievements are challenging, and fun to do
    + after you complete the game you can play bonus levels
    + the game has some comedy
    cons:
    - there is an achievement that is super hard to get unless you cheat your way out of doing it
    that's about it for the pros and cons, however i'm not done yet
    i'm flabbergasted that some people hate this game, because the game teaches you the basics and then leaves you alone and you have to slowly figure it out for yourself how to optimally figure out some puzzles and if you are stuck on a level for a long time, finally figuring out the solution fills your brain with dopamine.

The atmosphere makes me feel like I am just alone, with my only guidance being an AI. The soundtrack replicates this so well, with tracks like “taste of blood,” “self esteem fund,” and “android hell.” The gameplay is also very good as well, since itI love this game so much. Like it left a huge mark on me being the first pc game I have ever purchased, and it was worthy of a purchase. The atmosphere makes me feel like I am just alone, with my only guidance being an AI. The soundtrack replicates this so well, with tracks like “taste of blood,” “self esteem fund,” and “android hell.” The gameplay is also very good as well, since it revolves around solving puzzles with a gun that shoots portals (get cuz the game is named portal, you have a portal gun, what a revelation) and the icing of the cake (or a lie for that matter) is the story. It isn’t relatively a big cinematic story that has lots of characters and emotional moments, it’s just you, stuck in a chamber, alone, while an AI watches you solve puzzles.

    This gaming classic brought us this super good portal feature. Very original and fun puzzle game. I never actually paid attention but also storytelling method is also still valid in 2023 for me.
    No real downside for the game but only I'd like to mention that I am fun of tense atmosphere.

    BEFORE WE BEGIN:
    The game was tested in the Still Alive version, 100% completed and the platinum trophy has been obtained.

    A WILD PORTAL APPEARS!:
    Portal, as a typical Valve title, features impeccable level design and attention to detail right from the start. From the first minutes of play, everything is structured to create an exponential learning curve; initially the player will find himself inside a closed cell as Chell, a young girl who has been hired to test some new Aperture Science technology. Apparently, the capsule in which Chell lingers would appear to have no way out, but after a few seconds, thanks to the appearance of a portal, the player will be free to begin testing the various chambers of the Aperture facility. From there on, the player will be faced with several tests, and when he or she has mastered the potential of the blue portal, he or she will also unlock the orange one, kicking off the full potential of the game.

    A NEW CUBY FRIEND:
    As can be inferred from the name of the game or the introduction of the reviews, it is all about using portals, mainly two, one blue and one orange. These portals do not have different characteristics, but are actually unlocked at different times so that the player can figure out how to use one at a time. Several other mechanics are present, which in the same way as the portals are explained right from the start, namely the use of cubes to press buttons; obviously it is very intuitive as a mechanic, but combined with the use of portals to reach tricky buttons makes it more fun and complicated. Other mechanics rely on dodging and destroying deadly turrets, or repelling energy orbs in order to activate passages. Plot-wise, the first chapter does not hold a candle to the second, with a rather simple story with few narrative twists.

    HEY, THAT’S ME!:
    Graphically Portal awakens perfectly to a game of its era; moreover, due to its simplicity the game becomes almost immortal. Obviously, the aesthetics of the logos and the use of colors are excellently done.

    HEARING THE RADIO:
    From an audio standpoint, there is not much to discuss; the use of sound effects to make clear the use of the various game objects and their interaction with the environment is excellent.

    ACHIEVEMENTS:
    The achievements in this title are fairly simple and quick to complete. The Still Alive version of Portal provides several extra levels to tackle and two challenges in the campaign that are rather tough, namely finishing the game without ever being hit by turrets and finishing it by going only through orange portals. The latter is an obvious nod to the Orange Box collection and provides a more thoughtful approach to the game's puzzles.

    BUT WHY 9?

    PROS - CONS:
    All in all, the original Portal does not have much to discuss; all the pros have already been mentioned in the parts above; of negative points, however, I personally struggle to find any, as it really is a near-perfect game. Small appreciable detail in both Portal is the Commentary mode, where the developers explain their approach in the making of this title, useful for young programmers or very curious gamers.

    This game is like a prototype. The puzzles are short. It's not very confusing. As if Valve thought the game would not work, they made the game short and gave it together with the first orange box package.

    Bu This game can be played by those who like strategy, puzzle a little, and action. But let me tell you from the beginning. The puzzles in the game are mind-blowing. Even I barely finished the game. So don't be upset or angry if you can't pass any level when you play. The puzzles in the game are already very difficult :xd

    It feels like a horror game with the music being so quiet and the voice acting being so cold you can almost feel as a kind of cold hate coming from it. the portals are so fun to play It's amazing that they even make this game 2007. It's truly is the highlight of the Orange Box.

    I've always heard of Portal but It just never sparked me any interest. Until recently when I found out it was in promotion on Steam and I've decided to buy it.

    I just finished it and it was the best gaming experience I've ever had.

Great sound design, fun and original puzzles, amazing physics and controls, simple but remarkable plot and it's long enough to keep you entertained and short enough to not to make you tired. Graphics and performance are top-notch, but constant loadings in elevators are quite annoying.

    Portal is a simple, yet brilliant puzzle game. The concept of Portal is incredibly novel, especially for the time, and I think it has aged quite well. It's fun, challenging, atmospheric, and iconic.

    I can barely describe how deeply immersed I feel everytime I come back to this game. Everything from the world, the ambient sounds, the music, the characters... Everything is so well connected. Completing the puzzles is really satisfiying and the storyline keeps asking you to move forward to continue to know what's next.     One of the best puzzle games I have played. The levels are very creative because of the very smaty gimmick of portals, and the story unravels in a very interesting way. However, the game is incredibly small in length. It took me 2 hours to finish. But giving the price of the game, that is not a problem. It is a must play.
