Some of the puzzles in this game are nice, but usually quite simple. At least they're not too annoying. Unfortunately the game is very linear, and that is too noticeable. The "special effects" are the standard pap that hasn't changed since Half-Life 1. The different liquids are fun, but most of all I love the hard-light bridges. Generally though, the game really lacks any life. Expand

Great game. Great humor/great void acting. Interesting look into the origins of the aperature. Even the length of the game is pretty good to be fun but not get too tedious. The only problem really is the PRICE vs the LENGTH. I bought the game on sale for like $5 on steam, so i have no problem. But at anything above $10 it's just not a good value for your money. The game on average takes people 8-12 hours. In my opinon any game that costs you anything more than $1 per hour of entertainment is just not a great value when there are plenty of titles that will. Expand

Didn't finish the game. Yeah, the plot is not so bad, the voice acting and dialogues are nearly perfect. That ball robot is a real charachter and a personality. I thaught it Was Chris Martin from Coldplay who gave him his voice all the time I was playing)

But as I've already said, I didn't finish the game, cause for me it became really boring and grey. The second part of the came is a total crap, cheap and very cliche. I don't want to be very subjective, but it's just not what I've expected from the sequel of a game I find on of the most innovative and original.

Portal 2 is longer, with more content than it's predecessor, but I didn't enjoy it as much. The puzzles are still well-made, with most being satisfying to complete. The inclusion of gel also adds a welcome new mechanic to the gameplay. However, many of the puzzles aren't as challenging as the ones in the first game, and instead feel unnecessarily lengthened, especially in the second half. The areas are bigger, and the puzzles are longer, but the puzzles themselves are also less dense; often the solution is clear, but the process to get to it feels tedious. The writing is great, and the visuals are also great, but the light-hearted sections I felt were good, but they led to the atmospheric sections to be not quite as impactful as the first. Overall though, it's still a good game, and definitely worth the try if you liked the first one. Expand

Why does this game get so many 10/10 ratings? I honestly don't know.
Good graphics, ok humor, good sound.
Sadly, the puzzles get boring very quickly, and puzzles are the main part of the game. I was glad it was over.

The presentation is beyond fantastic and they came up with a lot of unique ideas to expand on the basic portal premise, but 90% of the puzzles stick to portal-able surfaces in only places where they "approve" you to shoot portals. This sounds like a good idea to make the puzzle design clearer, but all it does is ruin the game by literally giving away the solution really quick. This sounds like a good idea to make the puzzle design clearer, but all it does is ruin the game by literally giving away the solution really quick. If you see a little patch of surface that works with portals, the end of the story is you are gonna want to put a portal there and you will progress. The first Portal dumped you in rooms where the portal gun worked on any surface, which makes you feel much smarter when you figure it out. Portal 2 feels like an interactive movie, like it's the MGS4 of Portal. You feel stupid when they point out where you're "allowed" to shoot portals and by the time the game is over, you don't really feel like you played a puzzle game. Every once in a while you'll see this for $1 on a Steam sale, I would not even pay $10 for how it is normally. They spent too much time trying to fleece idiots and normies with the whole meme that Portal became, and not that much time making good puzzles. The entire point of puzzle games is you do puzzles wrong the first couple times before you figure it out. They forgot that and went for the memes. Expand

About the same as the first portal for me. Fun, quirky, funny, creative, but ultimately forgettable.

This game evokes my past life. It was not a good past life. At least EA doesn't own my past life

Almost as good as the first one. Main reasons are lack of cake, unfunny Wheatley and slightly boring one-solution middle-levels. Otherwise Portal 2 is as clever as it is well written. And now Half-Life 2: Ep 3, please. [May 2011]

The graphics may not be of the same caliber of other AAA titles, and the story may falter from time to time, but those are paltry excuses not to experience one of the best current generation games around.
