    A masterpiece for insiders. If you own a Port Royal I, or a Patrician and do not want another, this is not your game. When you want the best trading sim and also like wooden ship this is big time. When you own Port Royal I it is hard to recommend. I bought this full price and think it is worth it! A suppreme game has been made better! But its gameplay and qualitity is almost the same as A masterpiece for insiders. If you own a Port Royal I, or a Patrician and do not want another, this is not your game. When you want the best trading sim and also like wooden ship this is big time. When you own Port Royal I it is hard to recommend. I bought this full price and think it is worth it! A suppreme game has been made better! But its gameplay and qualitity is almost the same as version I. I give this 'addition' a 10 because I wonder why I ever stopped playing the previous version anymore.     A well execute and enjoyable traders / pirates of the Carribean simulation. Play as pirate, privateer, or trader. Let down by the tactical ship battle aspect, which is OK but can get tedious and just doesn't work as a good gameplay mechanism. Also lacks sufficient detail and mechanisms for large-scale management of a trading empire, so a long game can degenerate into micromanagement hell.A well execute and enjoyable traders / pirates of the Carribean simulation.     This game is captivating. As it is all free play you can play it at you leisure (so far 58 hours of pleasure!). The game play has heaps of variety, twists and turns to keep you hooked and divorced :-) Highly recommended. Better that all the SimCity and tycoon games put together.

    Absolutely amazing game. Only if there were some endings to the free play mode! After one has received 16 towns as gift nothing happens, whatever you do!

    Economic empire sim based in the Carribean. You can control fleets, build production facilities, improve towns, collect bounties on pirates, conquer ports for your nation... or just trade all day and count your money. There is a lot to learn and the UI takes some getting used to but there are plenty of tooltips and long tutorials (3-4 hours). There are 4 scenarios after the tutorials butEconomic empire sim based in the Carribean. You can control fleets, build production facilities, improve towns, collect bounties on pirates, conquer ports for your nation... or just trade all day and count your money. There is a lot to learn and the UI takes some getting used to but there are plenty of tooltips and long tutorials (3-4 hours).     The open ended gameplay is the fun part! The missions get boring over time, but the unlimited free play is what keeps it a winner. As for the graphics: it is fairy 2D, but also sufficient for the game. At least the in town view looks better than Age of empires 2!

    Enjoyed my time with it. I wouldn't agree that it has a great learning curve however it's all pretty intuitive and easy to jump in as what I remember. Have to agree that I played this about 5 or 6 years ago but it has stuck in my memory with me having a great time with it.

    I would recommend this game if you like economy in your games, and basic strategy. I enjoyed my time with it and    Enjoyed my time with it.     This game is a must have for all lovers of economic and strategy sims. infinite hours of addicting gameplay. It has a learning curve but once you are familiar with it, especially setting trade routes the game gets a whole lot better. gameplay is great and the music is relaxing!

    Sort of fun for a few hours, but then the tedium sets in. After a couple days all I could think was "boooooring!"

    Buy and sell. That's it. Fun in the beginning, but after a while boring because it's always the same.

    I have to say that despite having spent many hours on the first one, this just didnt have enough extras to stop me feeling like i had loaded up port royale again. played microsoft pirates as a kid and dreamt about the possibilities which could follw on, but the developers have lacked in vision for over a decade now. very disappointing.

    No, no and no. This sequel is a big disappointment. I was expecting better sea battles and more trading options than in the original Port Royale. Instead of that, they simplified the sea battles and removed some trading options!!!!!! WTF!!!!!!! The new content they added is not even enough for an add-on, let alone for a sequel :@

    basic of trading game. think the trading route, manage your industrial building and their supply line. batter some pirate or be the pirate. make large fleet of trading ship to trade and flagships to defend it.

    There are several games: Sea Dogs (Corsairs), Sid Meier's The Pirates!, Port Royale. Sea dogs are more about sailing and battles. The Pirates! are more about battles in an interactive way. Port Royale is about the economy. Long time ago Sea Dogs 3 reminded of Port Royale, but the game was a failure. Pros.: - Economy. Many different approaches to success. - Hints    It's a cool game.

    - Atmosphere.
    - Versatility.

    Cons.:
    - Building the city - the most annoying part of the game.
    - Money issue is very serious. It's killing the interest. You're in a constant money loss situation. You have to improvise or gamble in each city to keep up.

    So far, this money is the only serious flaw. If they make the problem more gradual or let players earn more money through gambling would be nicer. Much nicer. Otherwise, it's just becoming annoying.    … Expand

    A trading game with some aspects of RTS added, so for the armchair empire sim fans it will probably rate at least a look, and probably an outright purchase, but the game probably isn’t for everyone since the steep learning curve could well put some people off, but perseverance will pay off for sure.
